Staying true to its word, Square Enix has announced a lengthy Star Ocean: The Divine Force livestream for next week on 29th June 2022. Clocking in at an impressive 40 minutes, the show will get underway at 12pm BST / 4am PT/ 7am ET.
It'll be presented by the voice actor of main character Raymond Lawrence, Subaru Kimura, and includes an eight-minute video introducing the game's opening video. There will also be details concerning game systems and other characters as well as other bits of information. "We are planning a very intense program full of premiere," the Square Enix blog post claims.
Star Ocean: The Divine Force is still slated for a PS5, PS4 release at some point in 2022; it's likely we'll get a confirmed release date as part of this livestream. Will you be tuning in next week? Let us know in the comments below.

40 minutes for 1 game? crazy
I hope they change their terrible trophies for this game God what a crime was the other one.
@Flaming_Kaiser For the uninitiated what was the trophy issue?
40 minutes seems a long time to watch for 1 game, and 7 in the morning is a no from me, but I'll probably watch the bits and pieces that get put up on YT.
Was FFXVI supposed to be this year only to get a summer 2023 release date? I'd like to see the one from the holiday but we'll see. XC3 is starting to release next month and finishing 18 months later December 2023, not a fan of that. 😝
Can’t believe this presentation is longer than the FF7 one. Seems like a long presentation for one game. Wonder if Square’s going to do such a big presentation for other 2022 titles…
Can we at least change the hair style?
Really not liking it 😒
The good thing about this new entry is that considering how bad the last one was, it's almost impossible for this to not be an improvement.
Important question - since this is 8PM in Japan and narrated by a person named Subaru Kimura is it going to be in Japanese?
I am cautiously optimistic. I loved Star Ocean 1 to 4, and then 5 was just lame. Hoping 6 is here to rectify the mistakes.
Even though they said Star Ocean, do you think they'll sneak in details Tactics Ogre Reborn, Diofield Chronicles, or any of their other unnaounced games? I'm more interested in those to be honest. 40 minutes is way too long for one game.
@somnambulance @Voltan 40 minutes is a crazy amount of time, would be cool if we got a surprise localization announcement for Star Ocean 2's PS4 port.
It still hasn't hit the UK/Europe or USA yet.
@rjejr Final Fantasy 16 was always rumored to be released in 2022, especially after hearing the game was in it's final legs of development.
However it was never given a release date/window before the recent State of Play.
@themightyant from memory I think part of it was having to play a very long game multiple times on different difficulties to get the platinum. Then there were a few others that were also massive time sinks.
This is the best news I’ve heard all day! I’m a huge Star Ocean fan. I’ve loved every game in the franchise except for Integrity and Faithlessness, which was just okay. I’m hopeful that The Divine Force will be better than Integrity and Faithlessness, but I’m still keeping my expectations tempered. Regardless, I think it’s actually a miracle that we’re even getting a new Star Ocean game at all. I’ll definitely be eagerly looking forward to June 29 to see more on The Divine Force. I also hope that the Japanese PS4 port of Star Ocean: Second Evolution will receive a localization or a new remaster at some point in the future too, but I know even ports and remasters take time and resources. Either way, I’m very excited! I’m keeping my expectations tempered, but I’m still excited all the same!
Exciting! I'm curious to see more.
@Dannydesu sadly pretty standard fare for JRPGs. I have a crazy number with only have 20-40% of the trophies/achievements despite completing the main story and going out of my way to collect everything. Don’t know why they seem so keen on that, very annoying and almost forces you to need a guide.
@KidBoruto "Final Fantasy 16 was always rumored to be released in 2022"
Thanks. SO:TDF never had a release date except 2022 either right? So it could have slipped. Probably slipped, what doesn't?🤷♂️
40 minutes does give me hope for Nov-Dec though. 👍
@themightyant Nothing is tracked get all items get all skill in one play through and you to finish the game several times to even get a chance to get that Platinum trophy.
@themightyant With Dragon Quest Heroes 2 i just gave up im stuck at 95% of the trophies i dont mind some difficulty but i didnt get a weapon because my inventory was full.
And i had to go through the game again i just broke i already wasted nearly 200 hours on the game looking for enemies and getting some items.....
Trophies are fun for me if they are doable and not massive timesinks.
@rjejr I can still see Star Ocean launching in 2022, especially if they're giving us a 40 minute dedicated Star Ocean direct.
@Kingdom_Hearts95 I'm expecting a surprise announcement that they're bringing over the PS4 port of Star Ocean 2 to the USA and UK/Europe finally!
@Flaming_Kaiser I don’t even bother going for the platinum on most JRPGs for this reason. They just don’t respect our time. Usually so many missable events that need a guide and multiple play throughs. Better things to do
@KidBoruto I can see it getting a release date for later this year, then getting delayed in the fall, b/c that's how things seem to work these days. 🤷
@rjejr Hopefully Star Ocean 6 won't suffer a similar delay!
Also would you play Star Ocean 2 if they finally ported over the Japanese PS4 port to the USA and UK/Europe?
@KidBoruto Honestly, I have no idea what order the Star Ocean games are in. I know my wife watched me play, um, Last Hope, think that was PS3, I skipped the last 4 on PS4 b/c bad reviews.
Ok hit up wiki, 2nd Story on PS1, End of Time PS2, then Last Hope PS3. 👍
@rjejr I beat the stories for End of Time and Last Hope, but never bothered to 100% them.
As for 2nd Story, I've only played the PSP remake. I was near the end of the story but then stopped for some reason...
@KidBoruto Did this "event" just end? I can't find anything about it but according to this article it just happened? Maybe the date got lost in translation?🤷
Hey @LiamCroft you wrote his article, I think you wrote out the times wrong. While technically the show is June 29th that's in Japan at 8:00PM, which you didn't mention, so the 3 times yo Ed list are June 30th. It's hard to figure tat out though when you only write the date for Japan but not the time in Japan.
At least I think that's what happened.
@rjejr The Japanese time wasn't mentioned in this article. The show did start just under an hour ago; I believe we'll have an article covering it at some point today.
