Oh no. Ubisoft's multiplayer pirate action game, Skull & Bones, has been delayed once more, with Ubisoft officially announcing the news on its website.
The game, which was scheduled for launch on 8th November, will be pushed back yet again. It's now pencilled in for release on 9th March, 2023.
The team made the "tough decision" in order to spend more time "polishing and balancing the experience ahead of the worldwide launch", the blog post reads. The extra few months will allow the studio to deliver "the best possible experience".
The silver lining is that an open beta test will be taking place in the near future. No details have been provided yet, but considering the game was mere weeks away from launch, we imagine we'll hear more about that very soon.

I honestly keep forgetting this game exists.
Smart move, feel bad for any game releasing in. November that's not God of war or pokemon.
Just can it already move the devs over to other projects and move on
It was a tough decision
Translation: we saw the Ragnarok trailer and we aint going against that
There's almost no way this game is a success. I'd say it won't live up to expectations, but I don't even think there are any for it at this point. It's just gonna be dead in the water.
Better! They need give up on put psn plus necessary foe play.theres no more offline games???? Theres a lot players out there thta just want a good and old dashion offline games. or online but whith no need plus!!
I literally laughed out loud when I saw this headline; it had a pretty good release date compared to march next year! Ouch.
Portugal is not gonna be happy about this...
General reminder that this game was announced in 2017.
Oh thank God. Now GoW Ragnarok has a chance.
@Americansamurai1 sonic will be fine
PS6 Launch Title
Looks like everyone is clearing the way for Ragnarok.
I'm actually shocked. I figured they were going to release it no matter what this time in November just to be done with it. I doubt it's just because of God of War considering it's not like March is going to be a dead month for game releases either. Interesting choice.
All the Devs spending years working on this crap: "We are cursed men....Ms. Turner"
Lol. Good move though as it stood no chance what with God of War, Gotham Knights and MW2 and all that being released.
I was invited to play the closed alpha... honestly what a mess of a game. Sorry to say but this will be born dead. There is nothing they could do to it while delaying. Its simple not good enough for a todays Standard.
Ubisoft is a joke these days. Full stop.
They had no chance against God of War. I believe that the delay was planned already, but who knows.🤔
This game is seriously reminding me of Duke Nukem Forever. Being in development hell for years on in, a lack of focus, work constantly being scrapped, the developers not being able to decide on what the game should actually be, and then releasing to little hype and a product that ultimately might not be terrible but not good either.
I guess Sonic is the only one whose balls hang low enough to go up against Kratos.
I played the closed beta. Still a mess of a game sadly, still much to do. I’ve been waiting for this game since it was announced, by the time it comes out my arthritis will prevent me from playing.
Please bin this doomed project ☠️
Black Flag's tenth anniversary will probably pass by before this even releases 😅 just go play that. It's this game, but with a story and no need for the online mess.
Most ubisoft games get delayed at least once or twice, No doubt Skull and bones will be pushed back to next October because they hate spring launches.
Take this one out behind the shed and put it out of its misery!
I know delays are forgotten but a bad launch is forever. This screams "bad launch" no matter what date it'll release. Guess I'll stick with playing Black Flag then.
@Quintumply I've heard there's some weird finance stuff with the Singaporean government whereby they 'have' to get a game out at the end, but am not sure about the truth of it all. If it exists at all. Anything you know on this?
Regardless this game has been handled like an aging supermarket trolley.
@themightyant That's right, yeah. It's partially government funded and Ubisoft is obligated to put the game out. If this wasn't the case I think the game might've been cancelled a while ago.
I doubt this has anything to do with God of War and more to do with Skull and Bones being a bit ***** and them knowing it and hoping they can do something about it in four months of extra time. S&B's main platforms will be PC and maybe XB because of Ubi+, no one wants to spent £70 on a game that would've made more sense two years after AC Black Flag, but a month of Ubi+ to play it with friends and maybe play through AC Valhalla? much better value proposition.
@RBMango I wish I could forget about this game...they are so close to what I really want in a pirate game.
Just switch focus to offline single player and add land exploration + battles and I'd be all in.
