Final Fantasy XVI has been missing in action at Tokyo Game Show 2022 — outside of some lovely new artwork — but don't let that get you down, because it sounds like we'll see more of the game very soon. That's according to producer Naoki Yoshida, who, during Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIV presentation, said that the team has plans to release a new trailer for XVI in the "next month or so". October is probably the plan, then.
Now, obviously, plans can change, but the developer simply wouldn't be sharing this information if it wasn't very likely to happen. Yoshida also says once the new trailer is out, the hope is that he'll be able to give fans a "rough idea" of the title's release date. Currently, Final Fantasy XVI has a 'summer 2023' release window.
Are you hyped to see more of Final Fantasy XVI? Wish Clive well on his adventures in the comments section below.

Maybe there is still hope for a Playstation Showcase. FF16 has only been shown off in Sony events and there's still big unknowns like PSVR2 release date.
@Grumblevolcano Plus a God of War Ragnarok deep dive is inevitable — although it could quite easily just get its own State of Play.
But yeah, several things do line up to suggest that Sony might be doing something soon. At least the insiders on Twitter can pretend they knew all along if it does happen!
PlayStation showcase in October probably then.
Yes please. That is all.
@Grumblevolcano A showcase does seem likely, especially If you remember that PS working on a new AAA IP and will apparently be announced before October.
It seems kind of counter-productive to show Final Fantasy 16 again before Final Fantasy seven reunion it out.
Looks like something special is coming in October 😉
The release window 'summer 2023' is an interesting one...
I expect, and also partly hope, that SE will allow a few months of breathing room between FFXVI and Zelda TotK.
I'm personally very excited for both games, and I wouldn't want to see FF's success impacted/diminished from a release too close to TotK (similar to the impact felt by Horizon FW due to Elden Ring).
Also I partly hope that this gets an August/September release to allow me to play through TotK in entirety, then fully devote myself to FF16. Can't wait for both!
2023 in general is shaping up to be killer across all platforms, and pretty exciting in terms of high-profiles releases.
If it's a summer 2023 release window then I'm not gonna care for another trailer this early in.
@Ryall Why? That game will come more than a half a year later than 16
@Athrum Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion is set to come out on the 13th of December 2022. Final Fantasy 16 is next year.
@Ryall That's a re-release of an old game however.
YEEESSSSS. XVI is the only thing interesting coming out of SE right now.
What is all the secrecy about? They need to blow the lid off this game by now. It is coming next summer and we barely know anything about the game. Are they sure they will be able to release it in less than a year from now?
@Ryall Oh sorry, thought you were talking about FF7 part 2, not Crisis Core.
A dedicated state of play would be nice
@UltimateOtaku91 @4kgk2 @ShogunRok @Grumblevolcano I will be seriously shocked if the rumored PlayStation showcase doesn't happen.
Especially with everything confirmed to be shown off in October.
