Screenshots claiming to be from an internal pitch demo of the rumoured Silent Hill 2 remake have leaked, showing main character James Sunderland from a camera perspective reminiscent of Resident Evil 2 and the classic nurse enemy. The three images can be viewed below.
Whilst very blurry, prominent leaker Dusk Golem has said "these are from an internal pitch demo from Bloober [Team] before they got greenlit, so it’s literally a no-budget proof of concept thing. This isn’t actually what the final game looks like." Website VGC then states its own sources can corroborate these claims. Furthermore, it says the remake will be a timed PlayStation exclusive along with a PC release.
Rumours of multiple Silent Hill projects being in the works have been knocking about for years now, with some stretching as far back as Sony's first PS5 showcase in June 2020. Since then, the claims have come and gone but remain bubbling under the surface. Lately, it's been suggested a reveal of at least one of the Silent Hill games in production may not be too far away.
Konami plans to announce a new game from a "world-loved series" later this month at TGS, but VGC has said it's unlikely to be a Silent Hill title. Therefore, there could be a different event for the game to be announced at if the rumour is true.

I can't be the only one sick of all these remakes?
An absolute YES to more silent hill but a definite NO to unimaginative risk-averse remakes around every corner.
Funny how those leaked screenshot always have the quality of a potato, similar to those UFO pictures
Bloober Team ...Oh lord.
I love Silent Hill 2 but just leave it alone. I don’t trust them to do it justice. They should just contact the fans working on the remaster and port it to console.
I want to like this but Bloober Team games aren't exactly scary or atmospheric like SH2.
I’m nervous.
Was hyped until I saw the name bloober 😬
No outrage because of the potential timed exclusive? Nah thought not
Anyway I never played the originals so I will defo give it a try whenever it seems the light of day
@StylesT wait till the news that it's a Xbox exclusive then it will explode lol
I know silent hill is cool and all but I cannot imagine a worse combination than Modern Konami + Bloober Team
I kinda wish we would get a re-release of Silent Hill 2 that actually runs like the original PS2 version, not a broken, messy port.
May aswell call all timed exclusives by Sony, exclusives, we know what their timed exclusive contracts mean lol
On all serious note, interested to see whether this comes to fruition. Personally don't think Bloober are a bad studio.
I hope Blooper is aware they have one heck of a long road ahead of them if they’re aiming to do the original justice.
It would be great if they made James Sunderland wear a black and white stripe shirt 😁
@Deadlyblack Check out the PC version for that!
@UltimateOtaku91 Was hyped until I saw the name "Konami".
Apparently, Sony slide also leaked which includes same screenshots and other Silent Hill projects. https://www.resetera.com/threads/first-images-of-the-silent-hill-2-remake-by-bloober-have-leaked-timed-ps-console-exclusive-new-endings-more-confirmed-via-vgc-other-sources.627934/page-7#post-92638336
@StylesT the saddest thing about the timed exclusivity, isn't that it keeps it off Xbox for a year, but rather Sony would have paid money for the exclusivity whilst at the same time raising their console prices and complaining about affordability. The console wars are costing us players more.
@StylesT
“Timed” is obviously not really an issue. Not like forever exclusivity anyway.
Nevertheless, would be better if money was spent on new games rather than moneyhatting content temporarily.
@thefourfoldroot1 Beat me to it, was going to say exactly that.
@pip_muzz
It's a masterpiece. The best horror game of all time.
It's pretty much unavailable on most platforms as well. It absolutely deserves a remake.
Can you naysayers just shut up for once?
@nessisonett
Christ almighty I hate this mindset with a passion.
I LOVE The last airbender. They can absolutely NEVER do it justice, but am I annoyed or sad that they're making a live action show out of it? HELL NO.
It's STILL THERE. Why are people so absolutely mindbogglingly illogical??? Always the vocal types as well. Debbie downers, Jezus Christ.
You can continue your life without playing it.
I've been wanting a remake for over a decade. Let me have my fun ffs.
Is there any point in timed exclusives for Sony when multiplatform games seem to sell 85% on PS5 and 10% on PS4?
This is about the only thing that would interest me, if it's well made.
@pip_muzz Oh, I don't know. I'd love a Dino Crisis Remake.
@Grimwood You sure are bored out of your mind to be attention seeking.
@BoldAndBrash The original Silent Hill 2 is available for PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and PC.
It is currently available for a large variety of consoles (admittedly mostly with the poor port from the HD collection but still)
If this was a re-release of the original classic game I'd be all for it. I agree, it isn't just one of the best horror games of all time, but one of the very best video games of all time. One of the first and best examples as Games as Art even.
It doesn't need to be remade. It just needs re-releasing. There is a very large difference between the two.
@Uncharted2007 rather than a remake of Dino Crisis, we could simply have a new entry in the series. Not everything has to be remade. I'd absolutely love a new Dino Crisis too. Imagine if we got a remake of the original Devil May Cry instead of Devil May Cry 5. For every game remade, a potential new classic is lost.
I’ll take what I can get at this point with Silent Hill. I still want to believe that Kojima will get his hands on the franchise too though…
@StylesT I didn't see any outrage over the numerous "console launch exclusive" games Xbox had at their E3 event either. The original SH2 was also exclusive to Ps2 for a few months.
@pip_muzz Yup bruh I completely agree new ips or sequels is why I envested into next gen not pretty re-releases.
Ah another blurry image leaked for Silent Hill content. I didn't know it was Tuesday again!
@pip_muzz if you hate remakes etc then I wouldn't get a switch.
The whole industry seems to be more focussed on online games, remasters, remakes, HD ports, trilogy collections and directors cut, GOTY editions.
@BoldAndBrash Christ alive, calm down.
lol hopefully we can make out the writing on the wall for that puzzle i was totally frustrated couldnt make it out and ive a good magnifying glass 😂 my glasses
silent hill is awesome been too long more please

@pip_muzz Dino Crisis is one of those series that left us on... well... a terrible note. The third game is one I think most of us try to forget ever occurring. That's why it would make sense to remake the series or reboot the series entirely.
@pip_muzz
The HD remakes suck though.
The games are old enough to be remade and it's perfectly fine to do so. Why can the RE games do it, when this one suddenly isn't allowed?
RE4 is literally everywhere already and pretty modern as well with its recent releases. Yet it gets a remake and people are fine with it.
SH is outdated and I'd love to see that world in a modern jacket. If not, play it on your own hardware.
I'm only on PS4/5 and it's not on there
@BoldAndBrash @Gloamin Thanks guys, absolutely agree! First of all, bloober doesn't deserve this disrespect. They do great work with the means they have. These comment board snobs don't give a thought how it would feel to have your work scrutinized before it has even taken form yet.
Also these snobbish purists who think they personally own a IP and become entitled through their pathological fandom.
Cool.im dowm with a remake of silent hill 2.word up son
@pip_muzz uhm, as a fellow Shenmue fan... has releasing a sequel decades later saved an IP? Not sure if a remake of 1&2 would have set the world on fire, but definitely would of invited more people to the series. The remasters were great imo, but I'm kidding myself thinking a newcomer would have fun playing them.
Time exclusive sounds terrible enough but developed by Team Blooper sounds even worse, I hate when Japanese IP's (includes films, anime, games) are done or remade by western developers.
I got zero expectations for this and I will still end up disappointed. Instead of Square I would prefer Sony purchased Konami, fired everyone at the top and saved all the mistreated properties crying for help.
@BoldAndBrash ummm RE4 remake sucks as well! As does the Dead Space remake, Last of Us 1 remake and almost every remake in memory.
As you've said yourself, the fact you limit your gaming to PS4/PS5 only is your problem.
@nessisonett use an emulator if you own the original
@tameshiyaku I'd have rather had Shenmue 3 for all its Dreamcast era throwbacks than a remake of 1+2 designed for a modern audience. I absolutely loved Shenmue 3
@Uncharted2007 agree about Dino Crisis 3. That game can stay in the past where it belongs. But rather than a remake of the 1st one, no reason not to make a new game similar in design to the originals. And if it's a hit, then port/update the originals games as well. Then it's a win-win.
@pip_muzz absolutely loved Shenmue 3 as well, but all the love in the world from a niche original fanbase won't sell enough to finish the story. If a SH2 remake is handled with care, it'll invite new people in and increase interest in a new entry.
Also Resi4 remake isn't out yet, so how can you say it sucks,... be real.
SH 2 was bloody awesome.
I stand by 1 being better though, that game did terrible things to me as a kid.
@tameshiyaku it's because RE4 is essentially the basis of all modern third person shooter game design that it's as unnecessary as the Last of Us remake is.
At least with RE2 remake, they transposed the old survival horror mechanics to modern design, but RE4 plays like every game out today already. Hence totally unnecessary.
Shinier graphics don't make a better game.
I'd much rather we have Kojima's Silent Hills and look forward with gaming/franchises rather than always looking into the past.
@Vix
Yeah. Bloober team. Might as well cancel it hahahaha.
Where the hell is the showcase? They better not skip this week
I do hate the way certain games are mistreated sometimes in the same series when it comes to remakes and remasters. Silent Hill 2 remake that's great and all but what about the first original SH and SH3. There's also rumours of MGS3 Snake Eater remake but again what about the PS1 original and MGS4. Then there's RE3 remake being treated like crap compared to the RE2 remake and then Capcom completely ignoring a Code Veronica remake which I'd argue is a far superior survival horror game than the RE4 original ever was
@pip_muzz Fair... so long as they keep Regina.
@Uncharted2007 Dino Crisis without Regina and her red hair & shotgun just isn't Dino Crisis at all 👍
Well they nailed the foggy atmosphere. Can't see a thing on those screenshots. I just hope they deliver a good remake.
@Grimwood Silent Hill 1 and 2, 3 where fantastic so i have 5o disagree.
Would be better to properly remaster the previous games and produce a new game.
Or you can copy Capcom and leverage the strength of certain titles (RE2, RE4, SH2) to sell a new game with a nostaligic facade.
What I’ve heard about Bloober Team’s past work makes me nervous. Konami’s last attempt at re-releasing Silent Hill 2 makes me nervouser. But let’s wait and see.
I'm not against games being remade and actually I've been enjoying a lot of them recently. The issue with trying to remake Silent Hill 2 is there's so much more than just better graphics and controls. The game is on another level when it comes to everything else. That original vision will sadly be lost when whoever it is tries to make it new again. I find it very hard to believe that any other studio besides Team Silent will be able to have that same impact.
Doesn't need a remake. silent hill 2 enhanced edition is already perfect on pc. Officially port that over would be preferable to remake.
Wasn't the original Silent Hill 2 third-person camera perspective anyway?
how long have we been pondering these rumours now? 4 years? i'm so done with it. if the game turns out to be real and meets expectations, that will be awesome! but it is more likely that the game will merely turn out to be real... unless they have a top tier developer on the project which is highly unlikely (based on konami's track record of mediocre silent hill sequels after shutting down team silent). they couldn't even figure out how to adequately remaster silent hill 2/3 for christ sakes! even if the original source code was missing, it would be doable with some extra time and effort. heck, my understanding is that kingdom hearts 1 and 2 had to be rebuilt due to the same reasons but those remasters turned out great!
If it is a timed exclusive I can already see Xbox fanatics heads exploding lol that being said as I've said before Sony should stop making these deals if they're going pass the cost on to its customers through higher game prices & console price increases
@Grimwood nope that would be final fantasy or metal gear solid lol
@Snake_V5 Yes, but it was from a much wider perspective and you didn't have too much control over it. These new screenshots suggest you'll have full control and it's over the shoulder.
@pip_muzz how do re4 & dead space remakes suck when they aren't even out yet & we've not seen much of them
@AndyKazama If only we could actually buy it on PC since Sony just decided to remove the HD collection on PS Now.
Just give it to me already!!!!
@Mylo I agree. They’ve not made a third person horror game with action.
@mariomaster96 it's like these pictures were taken with a early 2000s phone rofl 🤣🤣
I'd really rather just have a competent remastered collection of the first four games. I don't trust a questionable Western studio like Bloober Team with a project like this.
Assuming this is real, of course. The 144p pictures don't inspire confidence.
@Enigk
Often it simply means they prioritise a platform and will shift focus on other platforms later. I think a lot of indie devs work this way. That’s what happened with their previous game the medium 🤷🏼♂️
What a shame. i was really hoping it would be a remake of the first one
@Gloamin making a game of this calibre in this way, the one thing they won't get is development time. If they were a PS WWS or part of XBOX Game Studios then they'd get that, but this? There is already a deadline.
@Nepp67 agreed. Konami need to make the version I mentioned official. The fans did an amazing job fixing the pc port.
@BoldAndBrash
Well said sir. There's nothing wrong with a remake. There's thousands of games out there and plenty for anyone seeking good entertainment. There's also a whole generation of gamers that started gaming over the last ten years that never got a chance to play some of the classic titles. As the technology changes I enjoy the occasional remake like RE 2 & 3. And for those that don't like it, play something else and stop complaining. It makes you look spoilt.
@pip_muzz here's a solution including your gang gang squad squad that liked your comment don't buy remakes same with film remakes don't watch them problem solved
@Vil me too y'all gonna talk crap, whine and complain if they do announce a new silent hill game this month
@somnambulance he's not get over it
@pip_muzz
Yeah me not buying multiple half a K consoles is my problem? I'm seriously being unreasonable huh?
Only TLOU1 remake has been out and it's a masterpiece updated very nicely. The others aren't even out yet, but yet you're saying they suck or that they shouldn't be made, huh?
They would somehow ruin the originals or something? You would buy the disc of the remasters and that disc grab a knife and fck up your original disc, huh?
Is that how it works? Am I really that stupid? Am I the unreasonable one? Fine.
@Zombiechris Why? Whether the Kojima Ruse Cruise is real or not, it’s been more entertaining than most games are.
I want a Silent Hill game but this has me very nervous. Silent Hill 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. Though I think Bloober Team is a young talented studio that’s still learning, I don’t know if they were ready to tackle a SH 2 remake. They do really well with environments and atmosphere. I’d say their downfall is storytelling (which the story is done for them, they just need to follow what’s already done.) and combat. Many of their games, there’s zero combat. If they are working with another company or team that can do the combat for them, this might turn out to be really good. I’m just not getting my hope up.
@Beerheadgamer82 I agree with a lot of what you are saying. Doing a SH 2 remake before the original SH seems off. I think it has to do with popularity and sales. The first two games are the best selling out of the franchise. The second game is considered the best and one of the most iconic horror games of all time. It looks like Bloober realizes that which might be why they started with 2 instead of 1.
Id also say that’s very similar with the point you brought up with Capcom and RE 4 before Veronica. Though I agree Veronica needs the remake treatment more than 4, it didn’t sell as well as 4. The 4th game is the fan favorite, companies want to make money so they skip the ones they feel won’t make as much.
As for RE 3 being treated like crap compared to RE 2 remake, I think that also had to do with sales. RE 2 sold better than 3 back in the day. Since they already remade 2 and had some of the locations done, I think that’s why we got an RE 3 remake. They probably looked at it as a quick way to make money as part of the work is done after RE 2. If the locations weren’t done, I think Capcom would have skipped 3 and went right to 4. Not saying any of this is okay or right, just my own personal thoughts and theories on this.
@Gloamin hehehe one would hope
@EvilSilentFrame yup those are my exact thoughts also, going for the ones that sold more but I didn't want to mention it yesterday cause it sucks. I'd argue this with SH1 still stuck on 32 bit PS1 needing a remake more than SH2. Why not just do all 3 cause for me SH1 is just as good as SH2 ever was. Out of all the RE remakes RE3 had the most potential out of all RE games to be something very special but no RE2 remake Mr X was way more Nemesis than the actual Nemesis. You are right but I didn't want to admit this yesterday cause I think it's just so lame ignoring other important titles in the series. I mean SH2 might not have existed at all if SH1 wasn't very successful and highly praised at the time
@somnambulance he's not involved with any silent hill game don't why you guys still believe he is plus he's working on his own game
@Zombiechris the cryptic nature of Kojima’s modern era games and tactics to advertise his games have led people to not necessarily trust what Kojima or other potentially involved parties say. Kojima himself said he will one day pull another stunt bigger in scope than MGSV one day and that it will be big enough to get him kicked out of the industry if he fails to do it right. There have been groups such as Never Be Game Over that have been watching his every move to see a conspiracy and Kojima himself has played into it whether it means anything or is just something he does for fun. You’ve got to remember he was involved in Silent Hills and PT, and PT especially is as condensed a cryptic and symbolic title as any game ever released. As for me, whatever Kojima does, I’ll support it.
@somnambulance y'all hyping yourself up
If this is a real thing, probably won't be announced until the rumored October PlayStation Showcase.
