Update: The playable demo for Valkyrie Elysium is now available to download from the PlayStation Store on PS5 and PS4. As noted below in the original article, the progress that you make in the demo can be carried over to the full game when it releases later this month.
Original Story: A playable demo for upcoming action RPG Valkyrie Elysium will launch on the 15th September — that's tomorrow at the time of writing this article. It'll be available on both PS5 and PS4, and the progress that you make in the demo can be carried over to the full game, after it releases near the end of the month on the 27th September.
Square Enix is making a habit of doing demos for its soon-to-launch products, isn't it? Fellow RPG The DioField Chronicle got a generous demo back in August, ahead of its quickly approaching release on the 22nd September.
It'll be interesting to see just how well these games perform. The Japanese publisher seems keen on pushing smaller projects like DioField and Valkyrie, supplementing its blockbuster properties like Final Fantasy — which itself is set to have a huge year in 2023. Demos should help these titles find an audience.

Nice, excited to try it out before preorder the PS5 version. Kinda miss the OG turn based combat but I'm willing to give it a chance.
Ah I didn't see the "demo" in that title on first reading.
I've gone through quite the range of emotions in the last 20 seconds.
Will give this demo a shot though for sure. I love when progress carries over.
N.i.c.e. i will try this demo.word up son
Awesome, i was hoping for a demo for this game. It looked interesting in the trailers but don't know that much about the game yet, i only know its an action rpg and thats about it, so i hope the demo will tell me more about the game.
is this a premium demo only?
Good call on SE for doing a demo. The reception for this game seem very mixed. So allowing people to try first, is always welcome.
Great news - always appreciate getting a demo. Also, love when you get to keep the progress.
Have this as a Rental - basically my version of a "demo"... so was playing it safe.
@stvevan Pretty sure you don’t need PS Plus at all for this one
Looking forward to trying this,the trailer looked awesome.
So far I've tried Diofield Chronicle and Harvestella demos on Switch and both have convinced me to buy them.
Definitely checking this out. Love the og but kinda iffy on what I've seen so far.
Lets Gooooooo!
Great news. Looking forward to trying this out.
Nice, now I dont have to see someone play it to decide if I want to pre order for this game specifically.
Definitely downloading this after it drops. Interested in it, but given how iffy the genre has been on PlayStation lately (some good ones, some that are merely mediocre), it'll be good to be able to try it first as I wouldn't have gotten it on release day otherwise.
Wasn't too interested initially but trailers after the debut one convinced me this would be a game I could get into. Looking forward to the demo.
Just finished installing it. Will give it a try on my lunch break.
My gripe with demos is when they drop you half way into the game. I’m assuming if progress carries over this demo starts at the beginning which is a big plus. May give it a go.
@stvevan
You are thinking of premium trials. Demos are different.
Ok cool.i will definitely downloading it.either today or tomorrow.word up son
wow performance sure is rough on ps5. was expecting a locked 60 with how it looks but goes down to low 40s.
@voltan @thecollector316 Thanks, ive never really bothered with demos
@skyshot horrible pop in too
Just played through the demo... Not really a fan of the art style or gameplay the story might end up being good but what's in the demo was super bland.
Gave the demo a shot, and im actually very much enjoying it. But I do agree with what some people say, the graphics are not good, especially if you play on a PS5. Can definitely feel and see its a low budget game.
Wow, this is absolutely a PS3 performance game. A decent one, but yeesh. There's no way I'd pay full price for it.
Looks and plays... more meh than wohooo. Pass here.
It reminds me a little of Darksiders only not as good.
Awesome to see more brand new games getting free public demos before release!
