Crystal Dynamics, the newly-minted owners of the Legacy of Kain IP, wants to know how fans would like the series to make a comeback and has duly sent out a survey to garner feedback.
The survey, which you can fill out for yourself, is surprisingly in-depth and query's your memories of the franchise, which began with Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen on PS1, released back in 1996. Crystal Dynamics published that original title, so there is a pleasing symmetry at play here.
Blood Omen's sequel, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, is perhaps best the best-known game in the series and was developed by Crystal Dynamics. Despite having an incredibly mixed reception, Soul Reaver has its die-hard fans, and a remake would make the most sense to us, or a reboot of the franchise for the modern era.
Were you a fan of the Legacy of Kain franchise? What form would you like to see the series take if it were to return? Fill out the survey, If you are so inclined, and head down to the comments section, we promise we don't bite.

No remake or remaster..the story deserves to be continued and with the advances in tech having the characters unleashed upon a open world enviroment such as elden ring or even valhalla would be amazing..its not going to happen though is it in these days of endless remasters and creative laziness..
@Northern_munkey It pretty much needs the remake treatment because they have to reintroduce a large audience to it. The amount of people who know where the story left off from Defiance will be very small.
Blood Omen remake would be OK but Soul Reaver needs a conclusion. I'm still waiting for the coin to land on its side.
Finish the story you cowards!
Start with a remaster and then continue the story if there is enough interest.
Remaster Blood Omen and Soul Reaver, remaster and fix self-rotating camera in Defiance and than maybe continue.
@AdamNovice a nice recap intro explaining the past events..i suppose if its a total from the ground up remake like what they did with demon souls then i'd be ok with that but not a shoddy remaster as i'm fed up with over priced lazy remasters..
Did someone say Soul Reaver. Yes please bring it all back. Past, present and any future creations. One of the best games I've played back in the days and today simply not much out that is anywhere near similar
I never got to play these but would love the opportunity to play through them now… particularly with upscaled visuals and ideally some gameplay tweaks to suit the modern gamer.
I get why fans of the originals would want the story continued… but on a personal level, I’d like to play through remakes/remasters of the originals and then play a modern continuation after I’ve done so.
I think they can go straight reboot for this one. It would make for a great modern action rpg series. Getting through those 20 year old games again isn't something most people would be willing to do. I sure wouldn't. Give me a fresh entry point.
Remake the series, the narrative is so rich but the production quality always varied from game to game, would be great to have a polished recap of the franchise before continuing it.
This and GEX ... would be so awesome
I would love them to be remade. Blood Omen was so good. I loved its aesthetic. I never got round to finishing Soul Reaver sadly.
A remastered a remake or a reboot is all good.more games more better.word up son
I've never heard of it so don't know what the game is like
I would just like to play them again. A remake/reboot would be interesting but without Amy Hennig at the helm or the original cast it would be missing that special something. A ‘Cowabunga Collection’ style compilation of all the games on modern hardware though? Now you’re talking. 👍
Remastered collection to start with some updated gameplay and quality of life improvements.
The first game on PS1 was a really fun and hilariously gory isometric RPG. Good memories of playing it many moons ago!
Gave my vote saturday. Here hoping for a remaster of the 5 games and a new sequel!!
see straight away people clamouring for remasters etc.
ps5 is going to be sadly known as the RE-generation. and if it continues that would be a shame.
put theold games on ps+ in the lead up to a new release.
i was 18 when this came out i feel old lol 😆.still have the discs yes if this is released again il definitely play through again 👍
Hi there fellow gamers.
Big Fan of the franchise and I´m really glad that Crystal Dynamics are actually doing this survey.
I do wish for a proper sequel over a remaster, though a remake could be nice.
This is kinda tricky for newcomers to the series, sice there is a LOT of story and lore between all games, but I still would very much for them to actually finish and conclude the story.
LoK: Defiance was not the "real" ending. There is much more to tell, wich is why CD would need to either get Amy Henning´s notes or better yet, get Amy Henning herself to write the story.
Nevertheless, this is still very good news for LoK fans.
Really hope they can actually gather enough feedback and bring this beloved and great series back.
Cheers, stay safe everyone and all the best
Finally Nosgoth wake up from grave, i completed survey and can't wait for more news or annoucements 👍💪
PS1 and PS2 era games need a remake first.
Could always add soul Reaver to ps plus premium
Reboooooot,
Look at new tomb Raider and hitman, they are better than ever.
And they need to introduce fresh air to new generation of players,
Reboot will fresh and new for us too.
@Northern_munkey I agree 100% defiance was left with alot of un awnserd questions. No remaster or reboot.. I do know Tony Jay pasted away years ago the voice of the elder god.
I say start completely anew with the modern crystal dynamic magic. Remakes of old games would be tainted with old game design choices & mechanics. CD is a legendary team, let them flex their muscles with no restrictions & with a new story.
I voted in the survey, even though I've never played any of the game before.
Personally I'd prefer they remake the super old games, but only remaster the more recent titles.
