With the Silent Hill 2 remake being announced as a PlayStation console exclusive, it should surprise no one to learn that hype for this return to survival horror has already hit a fever pitch. The teaser shared on the official PlayStation YouTube account has already racked up more than 2 million views, which is quite a feat considering it's only been 24 hours since the announcement.
If it feels like we have been talking about a return to Silent Hill in one form or another for years, it's because, well, we have. Things really began heating up back in May, though, when it was first reported that the title might be a PlayStation console exclusive. We are just glad that a return to that town, the one we see in our restless dreams, is officially on the horizon, and it looks like we aren't the only ones.
How excited are you to return to Silent Hill? Did you play the original back on PS2? Let us know where your hype levels are at in the comments section below.

lets hope this Blooper team I heard all bad things and not many positive things pull it off. đŹ
While there are little things that irk me a little from the trailer like the mirror scene losing all ambiguity and mystique, itâs definitely looking better than I expected from Bloober. Weâll see.
@nessisonett Stuff like the mirror scene is my issue Bloober. They always seem to try their hardest to copy SH vibes into their games but fail so hard doing it because it seems they do not get it. Let's hope Ito has a close eye on them. As soon as they give this remake "their own twist", I fear for the worst honestly.
I have never played Silent Hill or know something about it. Still, the trailer and screenshots looks like it is quiete an athmosperic game. I really like games with stories that are not built for kids and have depth to it.
I see no reason behind this negativity around bloober except trolls getting on the bandwagon. Everything bloober released so far was decent and very atmospheric. I'm a huge silent hill fan and don't have the slightest worries and even if it shouldn't work out well, there's still pcsx2 or my dusty PS2 slim.
Ye This is fine. But Very disappointing at the same time. Seems like everyone forgot that the reason we are hyped for Silent Hill is because KOJIMA WAS MAKING A HORROR GAME!? Not because all silent hill games are â10/10â and definitely not because âKonami is the best publisherâ⌠WE DID NOT WANT 10 SILENT HILL INDIE GAMES, WE WANTED A HORROR GAME FROM KOJIMA! A new thinking game, horror like we never seen before.
@Majk_SVK Then youâre in for a treat, SH2 is definitely not for kids, and neither is the rest of the series. Hope you enjoy it, and that you get a chance to play the original as well as all the other games đ
@jrt87 but let's be honest, the combat in silent hill was never it's strong suit.
Looking forward to this - think Silent Hill 2 was the only one of the series that I actually completed.
99.99% sure that the actor doing performance capture for James is Luke Roberts (used to be in Holly City!)
@tameshiyaku What worries parts of the fanbase isn't the notion that Bloober is bad per se. But they said multiple times that some of their games are inspired by the psychological horror from Silent Hill. And you can tell that they are aiming at psychological horror but (and that is only my opinion), it is executed horribly in their games which is why I hope that Ito and the team have a close eye on this. But as you said, there's always the possibility to play the OG game. it would just be a shame if such an influential title would not capture the spirit that made it so great.
@nessisonett Thank you for pointing out the mirror scene, really bugs me that they changed it in that way
@dschons Masahiro Ito has said in his tweets that he is aware of the worries of Bloober handling this so I really hope he is
21 years since the original Silent Hill 2 released. Was my second PS2 game after Twisted Metal Black. Sure triggers my midlife Crisis. I should buy a DeLorean!
I think the way he looks is just horrible, way too caricature-ish for some reason, and he looks old af. This was somehow made even more aparent after getting the RE4 trailer the next day. No bueno.
His face looks too long. Like a deformed hotdog
@DylanP speak for yourself. Many people love Silent Hill since decades, and Kojima never had anything to do with them until that teaser from some years ago. Silent Hill 2 is regarded as one of the best ones in the franchise with the most emotional story, I rather much preferred the original Silent Team remaking it rather than Kojima or anyone else who'll likely not be able to translate it well in a remake.
@Shredderlovespizza that's because Silent Hill 2 is the most beloved one in the franchise, the first 4 are considered the better SH games because the original Japanese developer was making them, but overall SH2 is regarded as the best one and one of the best horror/psychological games of all time.
@Finozzi1696 are you crazy? I would be the angriest person in the world if they PUT KOJIMA ON A REMAKE!? You are proving my point perfectly, totally forgot why we were excited in the first place... you are not special bro, everybody in the world prefers the original team for the remake, and no one was excited for Kojima to work on a remake of SH2.
Also, the SH2 remake sounds fine, I will get it day one (even tho its an indie studio and Konami is treating SH with 0 respect). But to be excited by 10 different indie games...
just because a game has the name Silent Hill, doesn't mean it will be great, BUT Kojima kinda does. GIVE US SILENT HILLS (not Silent HILLF)
