Far Cry 6 was already a fairly out-there open world experience when it launched last year, allowing you to fashion a firearm out of an old Walkman which would play the Macarena while you chopped down hordes of foes. Now it’s getting even crazier, with the release of the Lost Between Worlds expansion, due out on 6th December for $19.99.
“Following their exploration of a mysterious meteorite impact site, Dani will discover themselves in a twisted space between worlds accompanied by a noncorporeal lifeform named Fai,” the press release teases. “Players will need to repair Fai’s broken spacecraft by collecting five lost shards, each increasing Dani’s overall stats for survivability, bringing them one step closer to escape.”
There’s a roguelite aspect here, as you’ll need to navigate 15 different Rifts, at your own pace and with your own strategy, in order to recover the aforementioned shards. As you progress, you’ll unlock new tools and combat abilities, allowing you to revisit certain areas and uncover fresh paths. Fascinatingly, there’s even inspiration from classics like Ikaruga; for example, you’ll need to toggle between coloured weapons to defeat different enemies.
Upon completing the DLC, you’ll unlock new gear which you can use in the main game to further liberate Yara. And this may come in handy in New Game +, which is available from today as part of a title update, alongside a feature called Completionist Aid, which will help you to track down any outstanding collectibles you haven’t discovered yet.
Of course, if you’re yet to even try Far Cry 6, then a free trial is available on the PS Store for PS5 and PS4 from today, allowing you to play through the entire first chapter from the campaign. And if you like it, you’ll be able to transfer your progression into the main game, which is currently available digitally at a discounted price.

Sounds interesting. This franchise is always the same, but their DLC always goes a little wacky
@AFCC It's the same with a lot of the Assassin's Creed expansions over the years. Sometimes it feels like Ubisoft should just let its developers get creative and make some crazy stuff — it's often more interesting!
I really enjoyed my time with Far Cry 6 but I'm not sure how I feel about this DLC. The environments look cool but I don't love the spiky color-coded enemy design. I also wish it wasn't Rogue-like again like the previous DLCs even though I liked those.
I don't know, I guess I was expecting something else but I wouldn't say I'm not interested. Just unsure at the moment.
Soooo not apart of the Season Pass??? This has gotta be the first time this has happened: have a season pass and make DLC that costs money outside of it??
@Olskeezy not a first im afraid.
An unfortunate trend with Ubisoft now. Unlike in the past where the Season Pass got you all of the DLC, now with Far Cry 6 and Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the Season Pass only gets you the first year's worth of DLC. Yes, Dawn of Ragnarok was almost like another game, but it's still an unfortunate trend that seems to be forming with Ubisoft. Even worse with Far Cry 6 though, where the DLC for it was basically a waste and probably the best piece of content is released separate so they can charge more.
@Olskeezy nah it's happened often enough over the years, cod bo3 had the chronicles dlc drop excluded from the $50 season pass. And that's 7 years back.
Looks amazing! Reminds me of Blood Dragon which was such a blast!
I, for one, love these wacky expansions. Definitely gonna check this one out. Since I sold my PS5 copy of the game I’ll probably sub 1 month Ubi+ on PC for this one. Should be able to load my PS5 save anyway.
Is this included in the season pass????
@Nintendo4Sonic from the comments above, I think not
If thats true, that's criminal. The game costed 100€ when i got it at release and this DLC costs extra?
@Olskeezy depends on the developer/publisher but it's not a given nowadays that there's even just one "season pass" - some games have multiple season passes
@Pokemaniacal yeah, i don't like this approach, the previous dlc was also roguelike and i didn't finish any of them which is a 1st for me in the series, Ubisoft has changed their gameplay for the worst, i didn't even go back to Valhalla for the same reason, i'm just not a fan of random, inventory stripped away from you, it's just not a fun experience for me
@Nintendo4Sonic it's included in the newly released Game Of The Year Edition, which is essentially the same as the Ultimate Edition except it also includes this extra DLC, and is currently on sale on the PS Store at £39.99 (RRP £99.99 - price in different regions will vary though)
This is why I never buy Ubi games on release. The base game is always pretty much a carbon copy of previous games in the franchise, possibly borrowing from other Ubi IPs or general changes in gameplay trends- and the price of the "complete game" is always ridiculous, but it's usually a lot cheaper a year or two later.
I'm quite happy having picked up AC Valhalla complete edition for £40. It'll be a long while before I can be bothered to pick up Far Cry 6 though, it just seems pretty much like all the other Far Cries and I'm still working my way through 4 (kind of - ended up stopping to play something more interesting and haven't gone back to it in months)
The far cry games don’t have the same appeal to me as they once did. I loved 2 and 3 and didn’t mind 4 but after that it just became a bit samey and not in a good way. That said, some of the dlc’s have looked quite good
Far Cry 6 was a blast when I played it (people should definitely go in with an open mind and play the free trial chapter too) but I'm still not paying to play any expansions of it, sorry Ubisoft 😅
I’ll pick up the expansion when it’s on sale as I’ve got a backlog of games going right now and even more coming up that I want to play. But I will say FC6 was the best in the series since FC3 and the villain DLC’s were quite fun too, even if the main games are pretty ‘same-y’.
I'll probably get it just for more female Dani. Her WTF?! lines are ace and there's bound to be plenty in this.
honestly was disappointed with FC6, also was with new dawn. It is just busy work and no actual sense of intrigue or mystery or whatever. Very easy and no challenge at all. At this point maybe it was enough of this franchise for me. I gave up on AC a long time ago for similar reasons
So the xpack is a roguelike?
This one fell by the way of my too many games on my bloody big SSD syndrome, must get back
Nice update for first timers and for those wanting to replay. I have no interest now in a replay or this new sci-fi dlc. However I would have high interest in an arcade mode like FC5 has.
One question. Will the sci-fi dlc file be included with the free update thus adding unnecessary bloat to storage to those not purchasing the dlc.
Awesome. I look forward to playing thru the DLC in a few years when the Expansion Pass is on sale for dirt cheap.
@ShogunRok but a lot of people don't like mythological stuff in AC, which is weird, I think it's fun to explore real fairytales like they could've happened
