A release date for Final Fantasy XVI could be announced at The Game Awards, according to a new report from Insider Gaming. Geoff Keighley's annual event takes place on the 8th December, and is set to play host to a range of announcements. The aforementioned report says that pre-orders for the action RPG will go live around the same time, which strongly suggests that we'll get a date alongside a fresh trailer.
Officially, Final Fantasy XVI is on track for a summer 2023 release window. Getting a confirmed date in December would give Square Enix at least five months or so to work with in terms of marketing, which sounds about right.
Of course, earlier this month, the developer did mention that we might get a release date before the year is out. All fingers immediately pointed towards The Game Awards, so we're inclined to believe that this is almost certainly happening.
