A release date for Final Fantasy XVI could be announced at The Game Awards, according to a new report from Insider Gaming. Geoff Keighley's annual event takes place on the 8th December, and is set to play host to a range of announcements. The aforementioned report says that pre-orders for the action RPG will go live around the same time, which strongly suggests that we'll get a date alongside a fresh trailer.
Officially, Final Fantasy XVI is on track for a summer 2023 release window. Getting a confirmed date in December would give Square Enix at least five months or so to work with in terms of marketing, which sounds about right.
Of course, earlier this month, the developer did mention that we might get a release date before the year is out. All fingers immediately pointed towards The Game Awards, so we're inclined to believe that this is almost certainly happening.

What does Summer 2023 mean? January?
late June to late September for Norther Hemisphere countries.
State of Play? Sony has marketing rights and SoP right before TGA has happened before.
Most anticipated game now that God of War is done . I’ll probably pre-order ASAP and not buy another game for a few months. My backlog across all platforms is nearing 1000 and I’m finding my son is getting more expensive the older he gets 😂, so now seems like a good time to play some good, old games.
Looks like no showcase this year. Hopefully Sony has some 1st party for the game awards.
I'm so so ready
Soooo looking forward to this game as a return to form for FF. Hoping the last trailer will squash some of my remaining fears concerning it. I need to see more about traversal and exploration. Not to mention party members.
What are the chances of this getting delayed ? I don't know if you guys remember, SE swore up and down that FF15 wasn't getting delayed after there big event showing off the game and it got delayed right after .
@PSfanboy1992 i think its pretty locked in at summer 2023. unless something unseen happens , i'm pretty confident it will hit some where in that time frame.
I have no love for the game awards. They seem to be bloated with ads and freemium/battle royale games, but I like Geoff so it's cool that he gets to make big announcements.
@Hindenburg January is winter. Summer is generally June to August. Hopefully they announce a surprise early release, though.
@PSfanboy1992 Very low. This is being managed by YoshiP. The guy that delivers you a 30-40h RPG with an mmo every two years.
At worst it would be delayed by a couple of weeks, but it's very unlikely.
@Shstrick Same here, at least in terms of 2023 games with still just a vague Season release window!
I'm also looking forward to playing these games in 2023...
