Update: Atlus has confirmed that the PS4 remasters of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden will indeed be priced at $19.99 each (which we assume will equate to around £15.99 here in the UK).
You'll also be able to purchase both games as one very slightly discounted bundle, at $39.49.
Original story: Atlus has shared some key details regarding the PS4 ports of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden. Both titles are set to release on the same day next month — that's the 19th January — and we've all been wondering how much the publisher is going to charge for them. After all, it only recently re-released Persona 5 Royal for PS5 at full price.
Fortunately, it seems as though both games will be sold for around $20, or £15, if the confirmed Japanese pricing (1,980 yen) is anything to go by.
And as alluded, these aren't just straight ports. Both titles have, naturally, been remastered in the visuals department, and a full range of difficulty modes have been made available right from the start. Persona 3 and Persona 4 feature options that range from very easy (beginner and safety, respectively) to very hard (maniacs and risky, respectively).
Quick save has also been added to both games, so you can save at any time outside of combat. Nice!
And last but, well, probably least, a way to rewatch cutscenes has been added to Persona 4 Golden.
What do you think of these additions? How about the price? Summon your own persona in the comments section below.

Sounds fair enough.
I've got persona 4 golden on vita so I don't think I need that again, but I will definitely be picking up persona 3 portable but don't know whether to get it on ps5 for the trophies or on switch for the portability.
Price isn't a problem for me as they are included on Game Pass. Extra accessibility settings are always welcome for those that need it.
Just happy to finally get a chance to play them.
£30 for a lovely disc edition would be amazing (both games in one disc)
That’s some reasonable pricing by Atlus/SEGA. I’ll definitely get Persona 3 for launch & maybe save P4G for summer.
Sounds like some good additions and a great price. Recently i played through P5R for the first time. What an absolute gem of a game was that. So can't wait to play these 2 games and see if they are as good as 5 is.
I will buy these games again and play them again. Wish it was the plain old Persona 3 and not the PSP one but whatever. Beggars can't be choosers.
They had me either way, but this sounds good. First time for P3 and will be the 2nd for P4.
Quick save would have been soooo appreciated with 5. That’s what stopped me replaying for the plat.Just don’t waste my time with anything I find tedious, and going through those long dungeons without being able to stop definitely counts.
I’ve never played 3. Mainly because it always lacked a trophy campaign so was only half a game to me. Would be interested in playing now for sure given that’s been resolved (I presume).
Surprisingly reasonable prices considering how old the games are. Definitely getting these on PS5. I know they're on Switch but I already have them on both PSP and Vita for portability and I'm here for that sweet sweet 60FPS
Cheaper than I expected. Great news!
$20? That'll do I'm sold.
Im going to check out 3 on game pass, already played 4 and 5
Probably get on Switch. Still curious they went with P3P and not FES. Oh well!
Can’t wait for Persona 4 Golden in particular. Under £20 is a generous price point, too.
I'll wait for the physical package no hurry.
Glad Atlus is pricing these reasonably. P4G would be worth full price but when the game is £15.99 on Steam and £7.99 on the Vita Store I think it needs to be at least the same, if not a tiny more than Steam
Very reasonable pricing and nice QOL improvements!
@Pushsquare P4G always had a way to rewatch cutscenes, this is talking about a way to redo events but picking a different dialogue option.
Wasn't expecting reasonable prices for these. I figured it'd be $50 each.
Can't wait to get these. Nice prices and features.
That's a fair price for these old games, definitely going to pick up P4.
Persona 3 needs a real remaster not a touch up.
@thefourfoldroot1 the save system in p4 golden isn't that bad anyway really. The dungeons are floor based (like mementos in p5) and each floor is quite short. If you need to save then just use a gohom to get back to the start, and can re-enter at the floor you left.
If you die, you get the option to resume at the start of the floor you are on. So usually not much progress is lost.
My biggest setback was accidently fusing my main persona without updating it in the registry sometimes. That was irritating, I guess an autosave feature would've saved me from that maybe.
Kinda hope crossbuy was included on these but for £15 I can't complain.
If I’ve only played P5/P5R, wjay does everyone who has played suggest starting with: P3P or 4G?
@CWill97 1 and 2 are very old school, worth a look if you are really into RPGs and/or the shin megami series, but most people probably won't be interested.
Why P3P and not P3FES? I don't get that.
$20 is affordable enough for me to platinum the games. I 100% them when they didn't have trophies, I can do it again with trophies.
@racinggamefanatic I would love for Killzone Mercenary to get Ported to PS5 with a facelift and online functionality. It was such a brilliant idea. Helghast and ISA are both humans, why can't we have mercenaries fighting for the highest bidder. Makes sense to me.
@Balosi
I know, that’s why is specifically said it would have been a godsend for 5. Those dungeons where too long to not have save points.
Where is my free PS5 upgrade for Persona 5 Royal? Thanks for nothing SEGA
It was to be expected honestly. The steam version of 4g was $20
I've been holding $80 to the side to buy Valkyrie Profile Lenneth, MH Rise, and P4G once they're out. Would love to have them physically instead but it's nice to have them at all on PS5
@UltimateOtaku91 Games without trophies are still a priority for people? Pretty shallow.
Great timing as I'm almost done with P5R. Will definitely check these ones out as well
Good now make a physical version for the collection as i shall buy both like the idiot i am
It was expected, they matched the Steam prices, even though other publishers introduce Switch or PlayStation tax Sega does not.
Waitwaitwait. That's too good to be true. This is Atlus. Are you sure there's not a zero missing at the end of that?
$20 ain't that bad, I might go in on P4 maybe another time. But for certain not P3P. Still am baffled by why they chose to port the portable one and not FES but "hey beggars can't be choosers"
Hope we can get these on disc, I'm betting this is digital only.
Still got my FES copy, which I consider the "complete edition" unless you really want to play as a female. Though if the game had trophies I might pick it up for that price.
@brazzios_84
In my case it having trophies would be my only motivation for picking it up, since I already have the game otherwise.
I think this will be the first time I'm not jumping into their games day one anymore no matter the price. Bet they will charge us £19.99 for it to match that $19.99.
There was the talk about Persona 3 having a remake and if 3 gets one, what's to stop P4G from also getting one. After launching P5 and then soon after P5R and then a PS5 version with no save transfer or free upgrade, I just don't want to buy their games at launch anymore.
@thefourfoldroot1 maybe I'm misreading your comments but I'm not sure what you mean about P5 dungeons not having save points. Every Palace has a bunch of safe rooms that you can save in and fast travel between. You can't quick save anywhere but you're never more than a few minutes away from a safe room and stealth is so easy that you can almost always get to the nearest one without enemy encounters. Or if you have Goho-M items you can even just fast travel to the Palace entrance instantly, and from there to any safe room and save.
@metak
Hmmm, either I somehow completely missed that or it wasn’t that way at release.
Atlus dropped a video yesterday on their Youtube for those that didn't see it. "Morgana’s Guide to P3P and P4G"
I honestly expected them to charge $40 each! I'll happily pay $20 for each game.
Though I may just wait on them, after I beat God of War: Ragnarok I plan to dive into Horizon Forbidden West finally.
