Hey, it's about time the PS Store got some upgrades! Sony's online storefront finally has a dedicated demo section, both on PS5 and through your web browser. To be blunt, this is something that should have been implemented on the store ages ago, but at least it's here now.
As you'd expect, the new page lays out all of the playable demos currently available on PS5 and PS4, with the most recently added at the top. If you're a bit stuck on what to play next, you could always give this section a look and see if anything tickles your fancy.
Here's how it looks on PS5:
And this is the web version:
Just to be clear, these demos are free for everyone, and they all vary in terms of length and available content. They're not the same as the Game Trials that come as part of a PS Plus Premium subscription.
Will you be browsing the new demos section any time soon? Tell us what you're downloading in the comments section below.

Given how much income Sony gets from the PSN store, it's a real shame, how bad the interface of the store is.
Wait...so I don't have to type "demo" each time I'm searching for one? Man, that's what next-gen should be about!
@tofuman86 Yep, next-gen has finally arrived.
That's good was trying to find the demo section when I got one a few weeks ago they need to add a new dlc section aswell
Long, long overdue but appreciated all the same.
@PlayStationGamer3919
PS4 did have a demo section, I would know I used it.
@PegasusActual93 I can't remember the section for ps4 demos either. If I remember correctly you had to type something like "doom demo" to find something every time.
Hallelujah!!! Now if they'd just let us copy our saves to a thumbdrive...
@PegasusActual93 I've used it too. Think you go into Games and down towards the bottom there's a Demo section. Can't believe you've never seen it, @Tomato_Goose, @PlayStationGamer3919?
Why is the PS4 Store still so much easier to use than that web monstrosity?
This is looooooooooong overdue!
@Tomato_Goose it was just in one on the drop down tabs to the left. Just titled "Demos". Deffo had one tho.
Better late than never, right?
@sanderson72 Yep can't believe they never saw it too. Even on some games it says "Try Demo" next to the Add to Cart.
Still can't filter out anything I've purchased or added to my library though.
(Unless I'm missing something obvious and about to get shamed?)
Wow the technology in the ps5!
Honestly things like this baffle me as to why it takes so long to be practical. I always thought demos sell more games, so it doesn't make any sense that just over two years after launch they add this back in. It doesn't feel that technical either, so I'm really confused.
So in 2 days Sony put out a video talking about all the great games Playstation has and then Sony updated their PSN store to show us all the demos for their great games we can try out and the Venn diagram of the 2 looks like this? π
So Sony.π
That is a good thing.
It's good to try and see how control works etc before buying. Especially, since I bought a game which looked nice but has rubbish control, and never played it again since. Wasted money...
Okay, I know there are only a few games in stores with Demo version, but good to find them quicker.
By the way, why PS store doesn't have review option by people who bought games?
It's so annoying, whenever I see a game in SP store, I have to search what people think about a game.
It's about damn time! Finally easier to find demos of games I wish to check out now.
I remember being so excited for demos. Then the developers blamed the demos for poor sales instead of their poor game.
You mean game Demos were not just some urban legend on PS5? And I don't have to Google search for an URL to the supposedly released demo no one really knows about?
But seriously, about time. I recall having to check the different versions of the game in the web and add them to my library because I couldn't find them by searching on the store itself. And some of them stop being available (or something like that) once the full game is released.
@PlayStationGamer3919 I use it quite a bit on PS4 even prior to the PS5 launching (no idea what update they had demos or if it was always in the store or during the revamp where they had with the letter search system to what it is now, maybe, no idea, but for me at least in the last few years I've used demos for a handful of games before buying them on PS4).
It is annoying they mostly pushed it to the bottom of the 'Games' section near redeeming codes or other stuff I think or maybe it was in later updates to the store they added demos as I don't remember where it was positioned before the revamp in 2016 or so.
I agree though that you knew where the PS3/360 demos were immediately on those stores. Even Xbox One it was clear then they complicated it (don't remember with the 2013 or the second dashboard but with the 3rd and 4th I do) (or I'm thinking backwards compatibility listings they don't have a section for but do demos that always annoyed me so I had to go to the Xbox website/put all my 360 and OG Xbox disks in to catalogue them with thumbnails in my library to tell what's compatible or not and if I ever want to actually install them I can).

Thumbs up for snark, but currently searching 'demo' only shows around half the demos on the store - just 128 of 253 demos - so it's a useful addition.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Yes it's a UI limitation. There are a limited number of top level menu items they can fit horizontally on the Store on PS5 as that menu is along the top. On PS4 it was down the side which gave more room for additional options.
I thought the headline was that PS5 has a web browser and got my hopes up
Jaysus....it only took them 2 years...slow down Sony....
Are the demos free to access even if you donβt have a ps plus sub
