The Trophy lists being patched into PS1 games via PS Plus Premium have proven very simple up until now, allowing you to have a classic title with 100 per cent completion forever on your PS5, PS4 profile. And Syphon Filter 3, available right now via January 2023's PS Plus drop, is no different. All you need to do is beat the game.
Across 21 digital gongs — which includes the Platinum Trophy — you'll unlock one for beating each level. There are 19 missions in the game, so you'll be unlocking them all at speed, with the title estimated to take around eight hours to beat. The only other thing you need to be aware of is killing an enemy with a knife, which unlocks a Bronze Trophy. It can be unlocked very early on in the game, so it's hardly even worth worrying about. Effectively, just complete Syphon Filter 3 and another Platinum Trophy from a Classic title is yours.
As well as Syphon Filter 3, Star Wars: Demolition and Hot Shots Golf 2 join PS Plus Premium today. Will you boot up this Sony Bend classic first? Share your plans in the comments below.

These are the laziest types of trophy campaigns. Always a disappointing and gives the system a bad name. We can forgive them somewhat though as they didn’t have to add them, and I imagine they had to work with existing flags in the original game, which may only have been mission clear info.
Easy list, but really glad that bends at least puts in the effort to give their classic games trophies. Every classic should include trophies.
Digital gongs? Sounds gross
Is Syphon Filter 1 and 2 the same as 3 or is more effort required for those plats. Was never a fan of Syphon Filter, way to clunky even back then
"gives the system a bad name" lol the drama. You want them to put demanding trophies in a 22 years old game? Sounds impractical.
@thefourfoldroot1 True. But on the positive side more people are likely to play the game with trophy support. More players and more engagement will hopefully make Sony add more classic games.
Considering how one developer recently complained about trophies and achievements taking up developer resources, trophies for these old classics is a bonus for anyone that is interested in collecting them.
@thefourfoldroot1 No, the laziest are ones that pretty much autopop after a half hour "game"
Nothing wrong with adding trophies when you complete a level on a PS1 game through to completion. If anything it'll drive people to play it and hopefully that leads to more classics being added.
Just glad to see more classics with trophy support. 😁
Fyi since they didn't add this in the article Hot Shots Golf 2 also got trophies.
N.i.c.e. syphon filter and crash bandicoot is my favorite ps1 games ever.syphon filter 1.2 and 3 is amazing.word up son
@thefourfoldroot1 not necessarily, it’s nice to have these lists now and again. Especially when you’ve just come off the back of a recent assassin’s platinum or souls etc lol.
Does star wars have trophys?
Its a shame that there aren't any creative trophies, but its better than nothing.
Syphon Filter (the first which launched alongside PS Plus Premium) had a decent list with a few missable Trophies and even a collectible (one kill with each gun).
It's a massive disappointment that they couldn't be bothered for 2 and 3 and went with such lazy lists. Clearly the technology is available, make use of it.
@Croman_Marko27 Nope, just Syphon Filter and Hot Shots Golf 2.
I don't know how it has aged, but i loved the original Syphon filter games.
Would love a remake/reboot.
I wonder if the trophies were added by someone from Bend Studios (the original developer), or by someone from Sony while making the game work on modern consoles. The trophies look barebones enough where I wouldn't be surprised if they were added almost as an afterthought during the porting process.
@thefourfoldroot1 I disagree.
For me, its stuff that forced you to idol your console for hours to meet a minimum time requirement when the game doesnt have enough content to fill that, or things like "smash 50000 barrels"
I'd rather just tie it to completion than be forced to do hours of pointless, non-challenging busywork
@LordAinsley
Sure. But I didn’t say the worst types of trophies, I said the laziest (although they are pretty bad).
@thefourfoldroot1
touche, although sometimes simple works
Easy platinum works for me, I don't have the time for challenging trophies.
This article reminds me I need to resume my playthrough of the second game btw.
