Sony has placed thousands of games and DLC on offer with its epic PS Store January sale, but it's not stopped there. A freshly added promotion now brings prices crashing down on PS Plus subscriptions.
If you're not currently a member at all, you can purchase a three- or 12-month subscription for PS Plus Extra or Premium with a saving of up to 40 per cent. A year of PS Plus Premium is normally £99.99/$119.99, but if you take advantage of this deal, you'll get it for £59.99/$79.99. That's not bad at all.
The above deal is only available to new subscribers. However, if you're already a PS Plus Essential member, Sony's got something for you too. Upgrade your Essential subscription to Extra or Premium, and you'll save 30 per cent on the cost.
You can actually save even further on the deal, too. Simply pick up one of these discounted PlayStation Wallet Top-Ups from CDKeys (make sure to choose the correct region) and use those funds towards your subscription. A win-win!

These offers are available from now through to 13th January, so you've just under a week to snap this up. Will you be subscribing to PS Plus Extra/Premium with this deal? Tell us in the comments section below.

So as I'm on Premium and want to downgrade I'm stuffed. Thanks PlayStation. I've just checked and all I have is an option to resubscribe at the full price for premium or wait for it to expire and pay full whack on Extra.
I know plenty of people are unhappy with Premium but I have to say £59.99 is an absolute steal.
Especially when you weigh up that the normal price of the basic essential package is £50
If I hadn't already snapped it up for a similar price on black Friday (£64) I'd be in there like a rat up a drain pipe
$0.81 cheaper on CDkeys. What a steal.
@Muttt who says you have to pay full wack when your sub expires? Do you know what future deals are coming up?
Not sure why PS is advertising CDKeys gift cards when Shopto has £50 gift cards on sale for £42.85.
I'll never upgrade from Essential, it's just not worth it
@ActionPanther Premium has been utterly pointless up until now. The only reason I got it was because I found cheap deal, but once my sub is up if it hasn't improved by then I'll be dropping down a tier at least, even of Premium can be bought relatively cheaply.
Yep I'm one of the suckers on premium so I only get the option to resub at full price. If I wanted to downgrade then there is absolutely no chance they'll let me do that!
@gamer_since_83 i was of the same mindset as you until i upgraded to extra and that is what i'll stay on because its more than worth it for the games that get thrown in. Premium for £60 is a bargain if you are a new subber. It sucks that you cant downgrade to take advantage of extra when its on offer cheaper.
I did a upgrade to Extra and my renewal is up in February. Didn't pay much to upgrade for the short period of time but I will cancel and revert to Essential on renewal. Just haven't got the use out of it to justify the cost as I have GP on Xbox. I am glad people are seeing the value in the service though. Hopefully new subs with this offer will drive it forward more and I wouldn't say know to dipping back again in the future.
How about rewarding loyal customers too!!
Why only for new Subscribers again? WTH
Doesn't appear to be a discount for re-upping your basic plan in N.America. At least not yet.
I'm on Essential (it renews in November) and I can upgrade to Extra for £20.14, which is particularly enticing. I've already got a sufficiently large backlog, but for that price I'm sure I'd get through enough Extra-exclusive games to justify the upgrade fee until renewal. Hmmmmm
$59.99 for PS Plus Extra isn't bad at all.
I had Premium for a couple months, and it really was not worth it all. I have Game Pass Ultimate, and it blows Sony's Extra and Premium services out of the water. I'm perfectly fine with Essential, and even then, I may just cancel my sub and play third parties on PC and XSX, at least for the games my PS friends don't play.
Is this deal over on Jan 18? My sub expires in Jan 19, so I prob won't be able to get this deal either. I have premium right now, but going to downgrade to extra as premium is not worth the extra money imo.
I'd love to add a year of Premium for that price, but I'm already on Extra so I can't? Only option is to upgrade the remainder of my sub or buy extra again for £89.99 👍 👍
I guess no stacking years on discount anymore :/
Oh well, not a big deal. I'm sure there will be an opportunity to get my next year of Extra for less than full price. I still have 8 months left so not in any hurry.
@riceNpea this is not playstation
It must be bad if they are offering discounts and people are still saying they just want out. So glad I didn't renew my basic subscription on Black Friday. I'll probably just let it run out. That's what I call a win-win.
Is there something wrong with Premium, no idea why jealousy is the hot topic?
I’ve been a PS+ subscriber since I got my PS4 in 2014, and have always topped up my subscription when there was a deal. Sony seems to have taken that off the table, so at this point I’m planning on letting my subscription lapse to see if I miss it at all.
What's really annoying is their are 3 games on premium that I want to buy but aren't available to purchase have to be subscribed & it's not worth it lol
I upgraded from Essential to Premium during Black Friday just for the retro games. Long as I can continue to get that subscription at a discount and Sony don't stop offering retro titles ill stay on Premium.
Slightly annoying that I paid £58.99 for 1yr Extra mid December, when now just 2.5 weeks later you can get Premium for £65.99. But I still think £59 for access to all those games for a year is decent. I've played 5 shorter games so far, and have another 5 or so downloaded ready to play.
But once my year is up, I will have probably had my fill and likely won't re-subscibe. I'm not short of games, just added the 'Resident Evil 2&3' remakes to my digital collection for just £12.49, and I still have a few disc & digital games I've either not played at all, or barely given a chance.
Although if you were brand new to PS4 or PS5, getting a year of Extra for £50 or Premium for £66 is a steal, given stuff like the 'Spider-Man', 'Miles Morales', 'Ghost of Tsushima', 'Death Stranding', 'Horizon Zero Dawn', 'Bloodborne' etc. are all part of Extra.
Considering they had similar deals running for Black Friday, mid December and now in January, they really seem to be trying to boost those PS+ Extra & Premium numbers.
The sales were all trending down too, I believe these were the prices of Extra/Premium on the 3 sales; BF sale was £63/£75, Dec sale £59/75 and now £50/£66. Maybe testing what people are actually willing to spend, as it certainly isn't £84/100...
At this point I'm letting mine run down and I think it finishes this or next month, I almost never play online and I think I used it to play 1 game last year. When or if the PS1/2 offerings become substantial I'll give it another go but otherwise I'm fine without it
@DaveSimonH , I subscribed to Ps extra in Dec. And I received a deal to upgrade to premium for less than £10. I guess it will come up again soon.
Okay, it's extra £10 instead of £7 if you subscribe now, but that's still not bad if you are after Premium.
Personally, I am happy for my Extra deal back in December. But why all the deals are for newcomers? There is any way to extend my subscription for cheaper like these deals?
this means ps+ extra/premium subscription numbers are lower than expected and they are scrambling to make the service more enticing. thanks for clarrifying, sony, but dropping the price is not good enough — people want better/more recent games.
So Essentialists can only wipe tears... again.
So, they give people a discount to upgrade, knowing that many people will just forget to turn off auto renew, and will re-sub again at full price next time. Clever.
Dropped from Premium to Extra recently...will probably go to Essential... realised I actually prefer to own my games rather than just rent them...
