First released in Japan last year, Trinity Trigger only just got a Western date on PS5 and PS4. Describing itself as a throwback to 90s-style action RPGs like Trials of Mana, this could be one to watch if you're a fan of the genre. It arrives on the 16th May here in the West.
Given that Trinity Trigger's been available for months in Japan, it's easy enough to find gameplay on YouTube if you need some convincing. It does look like if could be fun if you're up for some fairly basic hacking and slashing, and we imagine that the combat starts to branch out as you progress.
Indeed, the press release mentions the ability to switch between eight different weapon types at any time, exploiting enemy weaknesses in the process. It also supports local co-op, which is always nice.

A lot to like in that trailer. Definitely evokes Mana with some modern sensibilities. First i've heard of this one. How did it review in Japan?
@themightyant I've seen mixed things about its reception in Japan. Critic reviews were fairly positive, but user reviews on sites like Amazon are fairly negative. Difficult to use that as a proper barometer, though, especially when they're written in a different language!
@ShogunRok Thanks. I will be keeping a close eye on this one.
This somehow reminded me of the alliance hd, I have that game on my switch and steam deck.
Reminds me of FF Crystal Chronicles. Nothing too groundbreaking, but it looks like it could be fun with some friends to play locally.
I may pick this up in 3 years when it's dirt cheap, depends on my backlog.
