Alan Wake 2, the increasingly angsty follow-up to the original Alan Wake, is playable from start to finish... provided you are a developer at Remedy and have access to the latest build.
That's according to Remedy CEO Tero Virtala, who shared the news through the company's latest financial results report, stating that "Alan Wake 2 is in full production. The game will soon have all content in place, and it is playable from start to finish."
Alan Wake 2 was announced for release on PS5 sometime in 2023, and it sounds like development is going apace, with the focus now shifting to bug fixes and polishing. We look forward to seeing how deep the psychological rabbit hole goes when the sequel is released.

I am awake on a lake with Alan Wake
Word up, dad.
Very glad to hear. But just be cautious: fully playable from start to finish means nothing if the 'game' currently stands at 1 hour playtime. But of course they don't mean that. And of course fully playable doesn't mean 'we have sorted out the 15fps drop issues in these 50 places'.
@NeThZOR
Fully playable means "you can play the game from start to finish we just need to polish it up" it doesn't mean "we have developed a 20 percent chunk of this game so far that you can play through".
Really excited for this. Can't wait to see some gameplay.
Hope Sony would help them with marketing the game
@PegasusActual93 "But of course they don't mean that"
Great news, I thought this was waaaaay further off than it sounds. Maybe an early 2024 release?

Why would you even say that if you already know for a fact that's not what that term means?
The first one was the main reason for me back then to buy a 360 and I didn't regret it. I remember buying the Collector's Edition at a local electronics chain. It came in a cover looking like a thick book. When I was checking out, the cashier looked at it, then at me and said: Do you really want to read all of this? I then explained to her what it really was and she just shook her head and gave me a look like "That's super weird" 😁
I ended up really loving that game back then for its mysterious atmosphere but it felt a lot like an action game first and foremost. Remedy taking the survival horror approach is a change I'm welcoming.
Alan Woke 2 Yay
Hot dang we can't leave Alan in the dark free him from the cabin on the lake. I Wana hang with Barry again Barry rules, Alan wake reminds me of a late 90s horror I would love to see the same again. I will be ordering this for ps5 , Xbox and PC.
@DiscoStuUK they said release in 2023 just no date when it was announced
@NeThZOR this is all pretty obvious. If anyone thought they meant different, the game would be releasing right now.
@Luna-Harmony People can find "woke" in everything these days it seems...
Fall 2023 release maybe? I don't see a Summer release happening.
