Bandai Namco has reached a new sales milestone with the popular action RPG, Elden Ring. As the smash hit game approaches its first anniversary, the publisher has announced it has now tipped over 20 million units worldwide.
This figure includes physical shipments and digital sales across all platforms. Elden Ring set off at a rapid pace upon launch, easily becoming FromSoftware's fastest selling game, and it's now quite comfortably its best-selling game, too. A large percentage of the 20 million figure was reached fairly quickly; the game sold 16.6 million copies in its first four months.
The game has received multiple post-launch updates, most notably adding new multiplayer arenas with distinct rules. Fans are hoping for some more substantial DLC soon, though nothing has been officially announced as yet.

One of the best games I've ever played. Can't wait for DLC. Miyazaki is a genius.
Well deserved! It opened up a new world of gaming for me. After many years Returnal and ER made me see challenging games can actually be a lot of fun.
I'm glad that Fromsoft is finally getting the recognition it deserves!
Excellent news. Excellent game from an excellent studio. Future member of the PlayStation Studios family I dare reckon.
If the Activision deal goes through I bet steak dinners Sony gobbles up from soft, and a big japanese publisher
Wasnt for me, but good to see great numbers.
This couldn't have happened to a better game
Good stuff!
And you people are crazy for fantasizing about Sony owning them, I hope they stay as independent as possible!
Congratulations to bandai namco.and from software.for creating this masterpiece.word up son
Excellent achievement. Congrats to FromSoftware. It's hard to stop playing their games when you're hooked.
I'd love to play it but the difficulty is just too off putting for me.
I'm playing this at the moment, about 20 hours in and making my way through Stormveil Castle.
That's why it's the 🐐, the goattt
Wow! I wonder how many hours of gaming that equates to 👀
Greatest sense of wonder gained from any game I've played, perhaps ever, but definitely in recent times!
@LordFlamingo Same here, started the game recently but taking as much time as possible with it so after about 25 hours I am making my way... around the starting area, discovering all the bits and pieces I can. Expecting to spend 250 or more hours with the game, and looking forward to it.
I haven't contributed to those sales because I bought a second hand copy.
Played this for 305 hours (according to my save file) when it released but haven’t gone back. For someone who hates dying in games that was a great accomplishment for me. I never did beat the final boss, and Malenia would make quick work of any 2 people I summoned in to help, but I made my piece w/ not beating final bosses over a decade ago so no problem there.
I might play more if they put out a new area like HZD or TW3 but I’m not going back in for challenges or PvP. It was difficult enough as it was. But a new area to ride my horse away from fights in, sure, why not.
I’d love to see a completion % by boss. Having fallen off the game at the Fire Giant I’m curious to see where others hit the wall.
Despite my overall mixed feelings on Elden Ring, it's good to see FromSoftware finally get the sales figures they deserve.
Elden Ring was great. It was my first real foray into a FromSoft title and I’m glad I started there. Elden Ring even made me better at other video games. Praise be to the tarnished! (Now go finish your books, George. Please.)
Well deserved. One of the best games ever created.
@Anthony_Daniels Doubt it since FromSoft has a parent company already and Sony won't by them because it would be in issue in the anime world in Japan
@extragood Yeah its definitely going to be keeping me busy for a long time but also enjoying it even in defeat, it just makes victory all the sweeter.
@Shredderlovespizza TBH I've been putting it off for awhile but I had a few days off last week and decided to pluck up the courage and jump in. I defeated Godrick the grafted earlier this evening and then after activating his great tune went and slayed Flying Dragon Agheel, good times.
Not surprising. I won't be touching the game until it's either $20 New or free with PS Plus though.
