PlayStation has revealed that it's partnered with Hogwarts Legacy developer Avalanche Software for a new PS5 DualSense controller. This limited edition pad will be sold exclusively through the Official PlayStation Store, and we'd bet on it selling out very quickly.
If you want to nab one, it goes on sale tomorrow (that's the 10th February) at 10AM UK time / 10AM Pacific US. However, this is only a pre-order date in the US, where the controller actually ships on the 28th February, 2023. This DualSense will only be made available in the UK and US — at least for now.
The DualSense itself is all black, with a golden Hogwarts design adorning its touchpad and handles. We must admit, it looks pretty slick.

That is a BEAUTIFUL controller. I'm so annoyed I'm out tomorrow because I think I'd cop this if I was near a computer and ready to order.
Maybe it's for the best, as I don't actually need a new DualSense.
Wow, that looks stunning. But now that I've got the Edge, which I enjoy immensely, I won't buy any Dualsense ever again I'm afraid. Otherwise this would be an instant grab.
Insane! I can’t wait, will set my alarm for tonight. 10000% buying it.
Damn the scalpers are gonna have a field day
That's pretty magical. Personally much prefer these understated designs, like the GoW:R controller, to many of the other custom garish messes.
@get2sammyb by “out”, do you mean scaling a certain mountain whilst wearing a new PlayStation hat? Haha. 13 days to go!!!!!
@NateGoesLive Doesn't Sony Direct requires to sign in with PSN account? I dont see how would scalpers manage to have field day if it would be with sign in.
Sony! You already have enough of my money this month, with my preorder of the PSVR2 bundle with Horizon and the charging dock for the controllers!.... i'll see you tomorrow at 9:59am
@SoulChimera Actually, no! But I'll be doing something exciting... Stay tuned!
Really surprised that they haven't done collector face plates
That does look pretty nice. I might try and grab one, dont really need a new controller atm but always nice to have a spare lol.
Well lucky i remembered while in work 10min before it went live. Just got myself a nice new controller which i didnt really need but it looked nice lol
That's a beautiful controller and I love the Hogwarts design on the touchpad. Thank goodness it's also available in the US too. Hopefully I'm able to get one.
I need to find more friends in the U.K. so they can order one for me.
In the U.S., starting at 10AM PT on Friday, February 10, 2023 with a US launch date of February 28, 2023.,
Whoo!!
I was all growed up when this came out. If this was out in the early 80s I would of loved it but I had the neverending story, garbage pail kids, gremlins etc lol the controller sure looks 🙂👍
From the title I was already grabbing my wallet, but it looks too underwhelming for me, can't get as excited as the other commenters here.
@Mad001 No reason you can't read/watch it now and come to love it!
That is one BEAUTIFUL controller!!!
@dschons It is nowhere close to my Battle Beaver
@Tr3mm0r That is nice. However, that doesn't dampen my enjoyment one bit.
@get2sammyb why am I thinking of Virtual Reality all of a sudden?
Wow, I honestly was expecting a mixed response in comments to what is basically a black controller with a couple of stickers. This is a very low effort. At least change the color of the controller to match its 'limited edition' status.
Looks nice but I'm happy with my current controllers.
@get2sammyb Looking forward to it. I’m refreshing Push Square every 10 minutes. Seriously hyped. Haha
Id be tempted, but im kind of banking on a red and blue spiderman one later this year
@dschons I know it’s off topic, but I’ve been interested in the edge, but the battery life is scaring me away. Since you’ve actually used it what do you think about the battery life?
@dschons Iw wasn't my intention.
@kungfumongoose I tried but meh wasn't for me. Well that was in my twenty's lol and people on fleabay were selling twigs they found as harry Potter wands lol
@REALAIS I did think it was bizarre that I could order the God Of War controller so easily 😂 this makes sense
@get2sammyb it looks amazing, shame it's so close to PSVR2 otherwise I'd be all over this
@kungfumongoose lol there's a lot I watched as a kid I don't watch today Scooby Doo I loved but when my nephew's are watching it I fall asleep lol
me books are sci-fi horror Star trek and star wars.
Meh not my style.. GoW:R is my fave one so far.. glad other people love it though 😎
@NateGoesLive I hope it is like that. I want that controller. I didnt buy black previously, so it was destiny to have hogwarts controller in Black
@ppitchfork I think it's a bit over exaggerated. 4 hours is the absolute minimum when you have constant heavy rumble, such as in Forspoken while sprinting. For instance, in Dead Space a full charge lasted me over 7 hours. I'm having no issues so far. That said, I always put it on the charger once I'm done.
@Rob_230 Bet they’ll put out a black & white controller along with it👀.
Hopefully it becomes available in other countries as well
I was all ready to scoff at this controller. But then I saw it. I cant pretend its not a looker!
I already have 4 dualsense, I wander if I can find a reason for another.
This looks like something an amateur made and sold via Aliexpress…
Looks nice, that black and gold colouring works really well.
Meh, it's just some gold bits on a black controller I can do that myself with a decal or cheaper
@chimango my opinion excalty, there is nothing really special about it tbh
@get2sammyb I don't get why people don't just buy some stickers for their existing dualsense unless they do need a new one anyway , it's much cheaper lol
Everybody saying that this is a good looking controller is just being sarcastic right? Right?!
Nice! Go Hogwarts! Can’t wait to play tomorrow.
"in Limited Supply"
Scalpers gonna have a field day tomorrow...
I love potter but that’s got no alibi. It’s ugly.
Grrrrr I already have three and only just bought the God of War one but I really like this HL one.
@dschons what's the edge like?
@starbuck2212 No complaints, I love it. I didn't know how much I needed back buttons until i had them, lol. Also, I like the convex analog sticks much more but I understand I'm in the minority with that.
@chimango Totally agree, I was surprised at all the postive comments, I looked at it and it looks pretty chintzy to me. Like you said, a couple of stickers. You'd think Hogwarts could get something really creative, or a unique color, or something other than matte black and some gold screenprint. Looks like a controller mod you'd buy for $15 on eBay. Though it's probably the best use of the touch pad around, so there's that
@dschons So much agreed!
@starbuck2212 If you check the comments under the Push hardware review for it, you can see some detailed descriptions of it from myself and a few others. The short is, it's absolutely overpriced for what you get, but it's still a nice controller upgrade and I don't regret the purchase.
@NEStalgia Oh, another fan of convex sticks? I never thought I'd find another one, haha.
@dschons Haha, to be fair I'm half a fan of convex sticks, I like it for the right stick but not so much for the left stick (though I'm not a huge fan of the stock rimmed stick...the one XB uses feels good, but I think ti's because of the lower stick tension. I really REEEEALLY wish they start selling lower tension stick modules for the Edge since it doesn't have adjustable tension built in.
@NEStalgia I'm right there with you on tension. That's probably the reason I still love my Dualshock 3 so much, lol. Most people love strong tension while I only mess up aiming with it by constantly overaiming.
@NEStalgia @dschons welcome to the controller chat Dschons. Me and NES have had some chats on the EDGE. He got his first and i got mine around a week later. Somehow NES got 2 day shipping and mine for 6, but hey lucky for him right. I like but not love the Edge. After buying it there is no way i would buy another DS no matter what collectors edition game it was from. Unless they made a classic PS1 color scheme. That i would buy. Tension or no tension for me, the sticks on the Series X controllers are better… for me, so thats subjective of course. Overall i would give the edge a 7.5 out of 10 and the Elite 2 a 9. Dschons ask NES what he thinks about R3 and L3 hahahahha
@Green-Bandit I love the stick tension on the Xbox series controllers but pretty much don't like the rest as much. However, ultimately, I'd be fine with either one of them. They're all very good controllers in my book. I also like the Switch Pro controller.
Good luck to anyone wishing to buy one! I shall try but I think demand will outweigh the supply and scalpers will be loving it
Man, its such a shame this is US & UK only.
I would absolutely buy this otherwise
@Green-Bandit haha, I got one day, but that's because I pre-ordered which included launch day delivery. Shame vr2 doesn't....
@dschons Its funny with stick tension, PS3 was lower and ps keeps increasing it. X360 was higher, and Ms keeps lowering it. Nintendo always went with low. And most pro controllers are adjustable (or selectable at purchase.).
Edge is one of the only pro controllers you can't pick your tension but since it has modular sticks they could fix that eyed overpriced alternates...
Yeah my aim with high tension is horrible, but worse, just holding forward for long periods causes hand strain. I always thought I hated parallel sticks, and I kind of do, but I've realized it's the high tension that really bothers my tendons! I'm thinking most players just slam sticks from gate to gate with no regard for nuisance but that doesn't explain pro controller players that map custom curves liking the tension high!
@dschons i agree all 3 controllers are good, i prefer the Xbox. Stick placement and travel on the triggers for Dual sense bother my hands, gives me hand fatigue after an hour or so. I can game on the Xbox Controller or the Switch Pro for hours on end and be fine. But i like the Edge enough to keep it at its ridiculous price. So that say’s something.
@NEStalgia not sure Sony’s Edge will be a True Pro controller played by the Pro’s with no Tension key and 2 back buttons, but for what i want it to do, outside of Price and Battery it mostly does it. I just played an hour of COD on Series X and my hands felt so much better and aiming is a treat. Been playing lots of Metroid Prime on switch, love the Pro controller mostly. Battery is insanely good.
ugly controller, still no colored buttons for whatever stupid reason .
@Green-Bandit " i like the Edge enough to keep it at its ridiculous price. So that say’s something"
That's a back of box quote if ever there was one 😂
I agree with it though. Idk I think it'll be an official pro controller, only because Sony will provide them for comps for marketing, and allegedly they designed it with feedback from pros that were unhappy with their "current" pro controller (presumably scuff, Razer, Beaver (what a name)) and love the ds5 so much they didn't want the form factor changed, thus crippling features and battery. But, I think they have some loyal pro niche in mind for this. I'm still hopeful alternate tension modules will be sold. An expensive way to do what everyone else does for less. But it'll address that problem. The lack of 2 more paddles would then be the main problem for comp players. Not all use all 4 but the ones that do is just doa.
£69.99 ordered and on way. Can't wait!!
Ordered from PS UK. Mmmm
Got mine 😁😁😁 even though i didnt really need one but looked nice. Lucky i remembered about 10min b4 it went live
Managed to get one, I don't think it is quite in short supply as anticipated. Lucky that it will be with me long before US launch date.
@Darylb88 yea same i thought it might be sold out by now, still available in uk at moment. Was looking and the god of war one is still available, but that didnt look as nice to be fair but had limited availability on that too lol.
@Daleaf Based on the launch dates it seems like the UK is holding all the stock for shipping to the US for the 28th! I will have mine in a couple of days as the UK launch date is today.
Ordered mine from PS Direct UK at 10:01am!
Looking forward to using it whilst playing Hogwarts Legacy! (even though I've had the game since Tuesday xD)
Also finally have a black Dualsense to match my black console faceplates!
@NEStalgia HAHAHA I see that as a back of the box quote forever now. Yeah i see what you mean it will have a small percent of pro’s using it but still play role in the pro market that asked for it. Makes sense, XB should ask me and you what to do with the Elite 3. Hall sensors would be number one on the list.
I'm going to pre-order this soon as it's live, mega hype!
