Scars Above is a 3rd-person sci-fi adventure game which puts us somewhat in mind of Returnal (albeit without the lightning-fast action gameplay), and it's coming to PS5 and PS4 on 28th February. You play as astronaut and scientist Kate Ward, who is transported to a distant and alien world upon investigating a mysterious structure that suddenly appears in Earth's orbit.
We get our first good look at gameplay, which focuses on Kate's abilities as a scientist. Analysing local flora and fauna will be crucial in gaining an edge over the bizarre creatures and plants that call this planet home. As you explore, you will be able to craft new gadgets and weapons and unlock new abilities, all of which will be essential to Kate's survival.

Returnal meets outriders...wait for a sale i think..
Still looks like Pound-Store Returnal
Returnal meets Remnant From the Ashes. I’m totally in for this, let’s hope it reviews well.
It really does look like Returnal, which isn’t automatically a bad thing, because Returnal is excellent. Eager to see some reviews by the end of the month.
@ShadowofSparta 100% what I was going to write. So ditto.
Ok so someone played Returnal and thought, let’s slooooow things right down, oh and remove all the fun.
The guns are like: pew…. pew… pew. I almost fell asleep.
This game is clearly infringing upon the trademarked title of my upcoming pirate lookout weather forecast simulator, Arrrrrr's Above!
A lot of dismissive comments about this game being derivative of games that came out a couple of years ago, even though the production time will have been way longer...
This game is now on my radar. Yes, it's a trailer full of tropes but we all enjoy a game like that every now and again. A video game ass video game.
Does this game have the same perma death mechanics as Returnal meaning restarting every time i die? Or is it a more linear adventure campaign with difficulty settings?
When I read these embarrassing comments 🤦🏻♂️
Who said it's like Returnal?!? No one!
It has nothing to do with Returnal, the Gameplay is different and this an action adventure and not a rogue lite game.
It is just the look which is a bit equal to Returnal.
I really hope this does well in the end, since it is from a smaller developer who just did mobile games so far.
Looks a bit generic but could be fun somewhere down the line...
This looks right up my street. More AA games please 🙏
@Nintendo4Sonic I mean.... we said it looks like Returnal, because it kinda looks like Returnal. I'm sure it'll turn out to be a decent game but, the similarities in its gameplay, setting, and overall aesthetic are there.
@Loamy I agree. I'm loving the fact that we are seeing more and more AA games. Most AAA games just don't do it for me, as many seem designed by marketing teams and managers as opposed to passionate devs with a strong vision.
I've had this on my radar for some time now. Very much looking forward to it! Hopefully it turns out to be a good game. Has some strong Returnal vibes to it. Not sure if I'll grab it right away but I'll definitely be playing it at some point.
hoping this one is a surprise hit despite all the completely unfounded hate above.
I’d say that mole monster has a quick swipe.
Definitely get some Returnal vibes from the trailer. Need to see more gameplay but it looking promising!
@OMG_Waffles Same here, but that's a good thing imo! I've yet to play my copy of Returnal but have heard nothing but good things.
