The latest trailer for Street Fighter 6 introduces three characters, but for most fans, Cammy seems to have stolen the show. The veteran combatant, complete with her lightning fast diving kicks and cold attitude, is rocking a stylish new design — but that's not all. As quickly noted by those who live and breathe Capcom's classic series, one of Cammy's new supers is an almost beat-for-beat recreation of her assassination technique from Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie.
It's a fantastic call-back to a film that's still fondly remembered for its incredibly well animated action scenes. And, let's face it, it's a move that suits Cammy pretty much perfectly.
So, dare we ask if you'll be a Cammy main in Street Fighter 6? Try not to snap anyone's neck in the comments section below.

I LOVE the SFII animated movie so when I saw that last night I lost my mind for a few seconds!😅
I honestly don't think I've been this hyped for a game since MGS4. SF6 just looks phenomenal from top to bottom!
To all guys that saw it as a teenager back then, it's mainly known as the film with the Chun-Li shower scene.
Such a good film. Great soundtrack too. Silverchair, Korn, KMFDM and Alice in Chains, amongst others. Still got my original VHS.
Ah crap, now I feel like watching it. Haha.
@Matroska Which was still partly censored in the US R-rated VHS version (there were 2 VHS released, a PG-13 version and an R-rated version). The box colors were different. The PG-13 was more of an orange/red box while the R-rated version was more of a purple color.
The PG-13 version cut the opening scene between Ryu and Sagat as well as all nudity from the shower scene. I think it also cut out the part where Vega (Balrog) talked about "skinning animals" and licking Chun-Li's blood from his claws.
The R-rated version had the Ryu/Sagat scene and only showed the full-body shot of Chun-Li from the outside of the shower.
Both VHS cut out the shots where Akuma was in the background.
It wasn't until the DVD release where absolutely no cuts were made.
I loved this callback to a classic anime.
Off note, I also loved that the recent ad for The Super Mario Bros. movie used the Mario Rap from the old Super Mario Bros. Super Show.
The nostalgia is strong in gaming!
Such a great movie, I wish they re-release it on Blu-ray again as it's impossible to find these days.
@Matroska damn I didn't know about that. Thanks
Not that big on fighting games as a whole, but Cammy IS my favorite Street Fighter character (she reminds a slight bit of Jill from Resident Evil personality wise)
But I got to say this is more brutal than I think I really like; Jill has a neck snap finisher too in RE5 Mercenaries and RE: The Mercenaries 3D too, but that's done against infected (majinis or cultists).
Here it is against actual (computer generated of course - but still) human beings. Frankly I think it's become a bit too much.. (but on the other hand when you defeated a character in the earlier games they often landed on their head as well.. so idk really)
@shgamer In SF2 characters would puke after you hit them with certain attacks. That's much worse than this, I'd say.
@Matroska Also she looks a bit like a street punk with that Union Jack jacket (ok game's called Street Fighter 6.. so idk ); she is supposed to be some kind of secret agent after all (I don't how smart it would be wearing the flag of the country you're working for, as an undercover agent, on your jacket )
Nice.
Don't even really care all that much about SF, but that movie was really fun and endlessly rewatchable.
As I wrote in the previous SF6 article I really liked this nod to the movie. Thumbs-up for that Capcom.👍
@shgamer She's actually not part of any organization anymore. She's mainly a freelance assassin now.
I will be honest I haven't been able to get into a SF game since Alpha 2. I think mainly because all the people I use to play SF with are no longer in my life.
@shgamer
Yeah the costume is terrible. Much, much better in SFV. I do like the overall graphical style of the game though.
My question is why did they never continue the stories and art style of that film. I watched that film more than I'd like to say. It was and is one of the best street fighter movies I've seen.
Bring it back I say
@thefourfoldroot1
Her classic costume will still likely be in the game if you don't like the new look. There's leaked footage of it out there. Now whether or not it's dlc or not is the question.
@Tasuki
She is still part of Delta Red according to the official website.
@shgamer
To be fair her older costume wasn't exactly covert either.😄
Plus she is in London in the trailer at least so the Union jacket isn't too out out of place on that stage. Now if she goes somewhere else then you might have a point but even then at least she could pass herself off as a tourist I guess!
Great design. But still, not enough to convince me to get the game.
Yes, I lost my mind when I saw this! By the way, congratulations to the designers and animators that have finally given Cammy pants but at the same time managed to make her look more soft-porn 😅. It must have taken quite an effort. Ryu is designed in a very enticing way as well, so I won’t complain too much 🫶🏻
@GamingFan4Lyf Not quite. The DVD did have an alteration, the shower scene showed her back instead of the front.
My favourite Kylie Minogue movie.
@GamingFan4Lyf i’m not a 90s kid but i’d die for a R rated street fighter animated movie . i seen the SF2 movie for the first time last year and couldn’t believe how cool it was . i thought it would be like a disney film 🤣🤣
@Matroska it was the fight for me , but that whole scene is badass . chun li fighting half naked and seeing those cheeks was genius👌
@SilentS Interesting. Well, okay, then.
@nomither6 If you saw the DVD version, you’ve seen beyond the R-rated version already. I am guessing it was via streaming though, yes?
This reminds me of Street Fighter Alpha 2 I think it was where they had the field that Ryu and Sagat fought in in the opening as a stage. If I remember right if you played as Ryu or Sagat you would face the other one in that level in story mode.
@GamingFan4Lyf it was through streaming basically . i watched it through twitch , a streamer i followed streamed the movie
@Martijn87 Same here, especially since I've yet to actually watch the film.
@KidBoruto you can find it on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/aQLB2YfOXbg . It's the Japanese version with English subs. Not the same quality as Blu-ray but still great. I still also recommend watching the English version when you get the chance, that cast is amazing as well.
@Martijn87 I'm only interested in the English version. I don't watch subs if an English dub exists.
I'm sure Discotek or another anime company will come along and re-release it onto SD-BD or Blu-Ray, just have to be patient.
