The finale of HBO's excellent The Last of Us adaptation aired last night, and while perhaps not as impactful as we found the source material to be, it was still a fitting conclusion to a great series. Eagle-eyed observers might have spotted a familiar face (albeit obscured) during one of the episode's most climactic scenes.
We will try to be circumspect, but be advised that you may encounter spoilers for The Last of Us: Part II and potentially season 2 of the HBO show ahead!
Voice actress and industry juggernaut Laura Bailey appears as one of the nurses in the operating room where Joel rescues Ellie. Don't be too hard on yourself for not noticing, as a surgical mask covers her face. Bailey portrays Abby in The Last of Us: Part II, a complicated antagonist who will go on to have very messy run-ins with Joel and, later, with Ellie.
Considering the events that transpire in that operating room are core to Abby's character development, it will be fascinating to see how the story will unfold in the seasons to come. After the finale aired, Naughty Dog VP Neil Druckmann shared a cheeky text Bailey sent him, pictured below. If you know, you know!
What did you think of Laura Bailey's cameo in The Last of Us finale? Make not to rush things in the comments section below.

She was incredible as Abby, shame she suffered and still suffers so much abuse over it.
@WallyWest don't underestimate the power of stupidity.
Unfortunately, people that invest too much in TV shows have migrated to gaming it seems. I don't remember it ever being this bad.
Yup, I immediately recognized her just from the eyes! Cool cameo but I hope she has a big role on the second season!
Like the last of us 3 I can't wait for season two and three of this show. I heard they start filming this year so I wonder who they have cast as abbie?
@SolaceCreed I think it's always been this way, and not just in tv shows and games. When Arthur Conan Doyle wrote that one infamous scene in Sherlock Holmes his fans wrote 100s of letters in protest to the magazine that published the story and many cancelled their subscriptions over it.
This was in the 1890s.
It's just that now dumpster fires like Twitter amplify all of the unreasonable voices.
Saw her in the credits and immediately rewinded. Also learned from the podcast that she was one of the nurses in the game as well (along with other various additional voices in the game)
Ms. Nadine Ross herself! Among so many others! I love those voice actors who play so many memorable characters!
@Shepherd_Tallon
I see your point.
I'm always reminded of the poor actor who played Joffery in GoT, how those imbeciles were so nasty, they gave up acting.
@SolaceCreed I think I read back in the day that guy never wanted to be an actor long term anyway. He got a lot of abuse but didn't care about it was the long an short of it.
I don't know why I remember that.
@Shepherd_Tallon Since I dropped Twitter its a lot more relaxing.
@Flaming_Kaiser I never got in to it.
I used to have an account so I could follow updates and announcements, but Push Square sees them before I do anyway so I have no need to touch it.
Twitter can be a cesspool if you don't use it just for news and quick tweets.
@Shepherd_Tallon The porn is rampant and im sick of it. Pretty girls yeah that's fun for a while but it doesn't add that much. And OMG if you don't agree with someone wow yeah I'm good now. Kid beats teacher but somehow it's always the teachers fault. It's shocking how much violence, hate, porn, social justice, conspiracy theories there can be on one platform...
