Towers of Aghasba was announced for PS5 during the latest PlayStation Showcase, and while no one knows how to pronounce that name, the game itself looks like a pretty ambitious one. From developer Dreamlit, this is an open world city builder that's as concerned with maintaining nature as it is with building up settlements.
Your people returns to a land they once called home, only to find it desolate. Playing as a young member of the tribe, it's your job to gather resources and gradually build settlements and towns to help keep everyone sheltered, fed, and happy. However, while that's your main objective, gods of the world are wary of the human presence, and so to keep them happy as well, you mustn't over-build; in fact, you'll need to restore nature and wildlife to the landscape.
It seems much of the game is concerned with this balance, forcing you to progress the human settlements but without impeding on the flora and fauna of the environment. On the flip side, you're also in charge of making sure the ecosystem thrives. It's about building both aspects of the game, not just one or the other.
As mentioned, this is an open world island, with the idea being you can lay down settlements and restore nature wherever you want. You'll get around on mounts and using a glider, gathering materials needed to build up the island. Oh, and while you're doing all this, there's apparently also plenty of lore to sink your teeth into as you explore.
Again, it seems like a very ambitious debut from Dreamlit, so we're excited to see how it pans out when the game launches on PS5 in 2024. What do you think of Towers of Aghasba? Tell us in the comments section below.

This looked incredible, it gave me shadow and the colossus vibes.
I’m going with ‘ah-gas-bar’. For me that’ll do for now.
One of the more interesting games of the Showcase for me. I’ll have to see what the balance is between building and playing, I’m not much into sims, but it reminded me of XCX which is nice. This also feels like a sequel to another game which was based on land manipulation on PS3 but I’m not even going to bother trying to remember the name.🤷🏻♂️
Edit: “From Dust” from 2011, which now that I’ve rewatched the horrible trailer only thematically looks like this.
Very Zelda. SotC also comes to mind, yeah. The uninteresting looking main character aside, I like what i'm seeing!
This looked really cool to me, but they absolutely sent it out to die with the timing of this trailer
well that looked quite interesting. Im in!
Looked awesome. As you say though, very ambitious. Hopefully the dev has the talent and resources to pull it off.
Sounds too stressful for me, I'd end up either accidentally killing nature or killing humanity.
