Update: Based on what we can see, Persona 5 has now returned to the PlayStation Plus Collection in North America as well. There's no sign of it in Europe yet, however.
Original Story: It seem as though Persona 5 — that's the base game, not to be confused with Persona 5 Royal — has found its way back to the PS Plus Collection...but only in select regions at the time of writing. From what we can tell (and as spotted by ResetEra), the RPG has returned to the soon-to-be defunct collection in Brazil and other South American countries, which makes us wonder whether it'll soon be reinstated elsewhere.
Persona 5 was weirdly removed from the PS Plus Collection back in May of last year, and we never really found out why. It was speculated that Atlus pulled the title ahead of releasing Persona 5 Royal on PS5 and other platforms. If true, it would make Persona 5's sudden return all the stranger.
And just as a reminder, the PS Plus Collection will no longer be a thing from the 9th May. Remember to add its games to your library before they're gone!
If Persona 5 is re-added to the PS Plus Collection in other regions, we'll be sure to update this article. But until then, let us know your conspiracy theories in the comments section below.

Like a phantom thief, it returns!
We never saw that coming 🤔
Wait... I'm confused
PS Plus collection gets it's last surprise.
@Jayslow @ztpayne7 These are so much better than my tagline...
why do they keep the vanilla version. they should only keep the royal with an option to play it vanilla or with royal content.
Gald to see it return one the only few ps games I enjoy to be fair. When Sony removed it was like the phantom theifs stealing my heart.
I actually like the original a ton even with Royal out. It has its own charm IMO. Don’t get me wrong- Royal is much better. The original though still has a very fun trophy list unlike Royal.
I got nothing. Maybe someone at Playstation was in the middle of preparing the service for deletion and accidentally pressed the "Add Persona 5" button. Who knows but hey...at least it's a fantastic game for free!
@KaijuKaiser Good on you for getting out early - I struggled to the end, took me 108 hours. Months and months of real world time. For the whole time I was just barely enjoying myself enough to keep playing. Apparently Royal is even longer. And some people have played both!
@Samholy Agreed 100%, Royal is a much better experience.
Royal is the one to play. Took me about 110 hours over a couple of months. Longest game I've ever played by a huge margin. An incredible experience from start to finish. I think what helps the Persona games manage their extreme lengths is that they're sort of comprised of two games in one. You have the dungeon crawling and combat, and you have the social sim/visual novel side. I always felt like just as I was starting to tire of one of those, the game flipped to the other style.
Well, since the £50 DLC pack became free for the royal edition, the price of second hand sales of the disc version have jumped up considerably. You may get lucky and find a seller who has no idea what it's worth though. And the steelbook version is commanding strong money too
I played this but dropped out before finishing the first dungeon, not because i didnt like it ,but life etc just got in the way and i never got back to it..Is Royal worth restarting the story for?
I really tried to like Persona.. I only played 5 because it was free.. There was just soooo much talking.. my dislike for anime might have won in the end though as I deleted it after 4 hours
I despise manga/anime so not bothered
