SEGA and Yakuza Like a Dragon developer RGG Studio have announced that they'll be hosting a presentation next month, on the 15th June. Adding to what is already an incredibly busy period for the industry — thanks to Summer Game Fest and a stacked release schedule — the 'RGG Summit' will no doubt give us a look at upcoming titles Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name and, potentially, Like a Dragon 8.
Gaiden is still penned in for a 2023 launch, so a confirmed release date alongside a gameplay deep dive seems likely. Meanwhile, Like a Dragon 8 has received but a tiny teaser up until this point, so more information might be on the cards.
The only problem — at least for us here in the UK and the rest of Europe — is that the showcase will begin at 12 PM JST, which equates to 4 AM UK time and 5 AM central European time (technically a day later, on the 16th June). It's at a more reasonable 11 PM Eastern and 8 PM Pacific in the US.
Still, it should be a good show, and just for you, we do plan on staying up to cover it.
Are you looking forward to this freshly announced presentation? Wonder what's next for Kazuma Kiryu in the comments section below.

SEGA: Worldwide release dates for all Like a Dragon games going forward
Also SEGA: Our Like a Dragon showcase will air at 4/5 AM in Europe
Looking forward to getting Kiryu onto the turn based team. I'm over the moon the Like A Dragon mainline games will be turn based. I could never get into the action based ones.
Meanwhile, Shenmue fans are left holding an empty bag. Middle finger to Sega for not allowing YS to finish the story. I'm not jumping into this series.
If there's a series I'd wake up at 5AM to watch news of, that'd be LaD.
Best series of all time. At least until ABRM gets a sequel. Currently playing through the Ishin plat campaign, then will be all caught up for any new games in the series.
Shame about the time, but I’ll just watch it the next day.
@ShogunRok Tbf, Nintendo Directs and SoP/Playstation Showcase airing at 10/11/12pm during weekdays here in europe isn't much better imo, at least not for people who need to get up early (which propably are most people)
Ah so this is why the showcase was less than satisfactory to put it lightly
Surely they will show a near complete gaiden and more of like a dragon 8.
Will be interesting to see the return of Kiryu.
The Dragon of Dojima will rise again! I will definitely be tuning in.
@Uncharted2007 it barely sold that's the issue. Like a dragon was very successful
Don't have to watch it live. Will watch after I wake up.
@ShogunRok Fellow European Here. I'll stay up late if you will! 👍😀
Absolutely love the Yakuza/Like a Dragon games!
I'm still holding out a shred of hope that the new Like a Dragon is playable with both Kiryu and Ichiban, with Kiryu being beat-em-up and Ichiban being turn based. Why not?
@Uncharted2007 YS screwed the fans on that one. Shenmue could have been great and Sega should have given it to RGG for part 3.
These are always day one for me.
@old-dad Shenmue feels like a series people are always asking for a new game to release and when it finally happens no one buys it
Gaming is NOT dead!
@Sam_ATLUS. I agree for the most part. But Shenmue 3 was not good so cant blame people for not buying it lol
@pip_muzz You've got yourself a deal!
Just watch it after when we wake up UK time, it will be all over social media anyways we won't miss anything lol
@CutchuSlow yeah same
@Uncharted2007 I fell ya, but I learned to love the Yakuza series as much as Shenmue.
Also, Yu had the chance to finish the story in part 3 and decided to gamble for more sequels. We won't even get an anime continuation.
@tameshiyaku just don't think about it too much, this guy wanted many more sequels and he had no chance in stopping, during the Dreamcast days he was ambitious and didn't know where to stop with the series, the fact remains that shenmue 1&2 were adventurous at the time and people that lived through that era had to put up with that and we get shenmue 3 and still don't have a final resolve regarding the game is something we old millennials have to deal with lol
Hey, this is just what I wanted at the PS showcase, but even better!
Am I now an insider? Pay me!!
Shenmue never caught my interest so I never bought it. If it comes to gamepass, maybe I'd give it a go.
@Grimwood If all their games are awful then it's not for you. Every game I like is made in Japan. I think other games made anywhere else are awful. So we're kinda the exact opposite in taste for games.
I still need to finish 6 and 7. But always happy to see new entries.
@huyi don't worry, I don't wake up every day wondering if Ryu will someday avenge his father
Can’t wait for it!! I hope this means they have some hidden game up their sleeves ready to surprise us! Honestly, I’d just be happy to see ANYTHING of LAD 8 and finally lock in a release date for Gaiden!
@tameshiyaku I still have a grudge to the fact I was waiting for decades for a conclusion 🤣🤣
Very excited for this as I too think Like A Dragon Gaiden will be there with a possible release of September to November I’m guessing. I really wanna see what that’s gonna be. A full length 70$ Yakuza game? Or like a budget not really full in most ways 40$ side game thing. Excited either way.
I'm happy for my friends who are Like a Dragon fans!
Hope they get everything they want and more from this showcase.
