The post-press conference haze is a real phenomenon, and it can be difficult to determine exactly which games are exclusive and which aren’t. To be honest, Sony’s show this evening wasn’t the worst example we’ve ever seen, because it became pretty obvious as the minutes ticked by that we weren’t seeing many first-party titles at all – not even from wholly-owned subsidiary, Bungie. (Although it’s been saying this since the sale of the studio went through.)
Microsoft’s typically on-point comms team will be claiming a big social media win this evening, as it politely pointed out the dozen or so games from the PS Showcase that will also be launching on Xbox. Fair play!
While this is obviously good information for Xbox consumers, we’re hopeful the Redmond firm won’t put an embargo on the announcement of third-party titles during its own presentation next month, as it forced fans to wait for the confirmation of Persona’s various remakes on other platforms last year.

You know it was bad when even Xbox are dunking on you for not having games.
the first W for MS for months. even though the best games (Spider-Man 2, FF XVI, Phantom Blade Zero) are all not coming to the Xbox.
Tbf I still tune in to XBOX shows for the third party news too.
Not a smart move when most of Xbox's games are multiplatform too.
Lol, are they really sure they want to get into a discussion about who has more exclusives?!
"We are not in a console war" - Phil Used Car Salesman Spencer
@AdamNovice How isit not a smart move lol...Xbox owners are going to want to know which games are coming for them...seems pretty common sense and standard that they would let people know which games are coming to the platform
Fair enough, it was a pretty bad showcase. I was hoping for at least a Silent Hill 2 release date or some gameplay. Wasn't expecting much but damn... Too many indiegames, I bought a Ps5 for next gen experiences, not cute artwork looking games.
So Helldivers 2 and Foamstars aren't going to Xbox, interesting. Must be part of Sony's 12 live services then? There were some BOTW looking anime ones, I need more detail on those.
In hindsight it was such a mish mash, no boundaries to indicate what's what.
It's pretty much guaranteed there will be a tonne of third party games at the xbox showcase that will be coming to playstation too. I see no harm in this.
@bkeswick one was called tower of fantasy which is on mobile and is free to play. The other one was Granblue Fantasy Relink which will be a proper single player jrpg.
There was also a zelda looking game that looked like the team behind shadow and the colossus made it, that one caught my eye the most.
@StylesT Because they having a sly dig at Sony's show for it's lack of exclusives, if they do the same thing at their show it'll be a bad look.
@UltimateOtaku91 Thanks, that's helpful. Granblue Fantasy Relink thing was a fighter game I played for a while - I think that was from PS Plus Essential - so I kinda recognized the characters, but the showcase one was vastly different so I'm curious.
And that Zelda looking one too. I guess the show had quite a lot in it. It was hard to tell during the show. It's all mixed up in my head.
And the most frequent reply to that tweet is “I’ll wait till it comes to game pass”
Imagine if Sony did the same thing after an Xbox showcase. You'd think the world had ended.
@bkeswick That fighting one was Granblue Fantasy Versus, confusing I know lol Re link is a proper jrpg.

I cant help but think that Sony didnt want to do a conference, they just wanted to do a state of play for Spiderman 2 but they felt they needed to make it a "showcase" just because summer games fest and the xbox conference is happening soon.
So they put a bunch of random games together.
@AdamNovice Surely they are just piggybacking off Sony's promotion rather than having a dig? Making sure the Series owners don't put their consoles up for sale on ebay just so they can get a PS5 for the MGS3 remake. Basically they are being cheap. Why pay for advertising when someone else can do it for you?
@UltimateOtaku91 Yeah thanks hehe. I'll look into it. I'm aware these are different games, but I was just curious because it was clear to me that it was of a different genre.
Meh. It’s not like PlayStation won’t be able to say the same thing after the next Xbox event.
@BeerIsAwesome Haha I think I know what you mean. I think it's fine for marketing, but it only gets weird when observers start to perceive virtues and righteousness in them which seems to be common on twitter.
@BlueBeemer Sure spending a whole lot of money lately for "not exclusives" both on PR and buying publishers
hmmm... no Dragon's Dogma 2 among the lot. I would think they'd single out the big Capcom reveal of the show.
Could it be exclusive?
I don't see this as a dig, even if it was. Microsoft is answering the question ALL of us are asking and do at the end of every showcase, every E3 style event PS and Xbox fans alike
"How many of those were exclusive? Like exclusive exclusive, not timed"
Usually we're left to work it out for ourselves and don't find out until like a day after when the developers stop being vague with details and it's annoying.
Thank you Microsoft for making it clear and this says more about what Sony is STILL hiding. Plenty of trailers, no gameplay and STILL no word from first party developers we KNOW have something that smells amazing baking in the oven.
@AdamNovice Forza, Starfield, HellBlade 2 and Avowed aren’t and those are all suppose to be at the show in June. If they are that should be a good enough showing, but there’s rumors they are going to show off the Indiana Jones game since it’s close to the movie coming out. Plus Contraband and maybe i.D’s new title. Could get interesting. Lord knows MS hasn’t put much out in 2.5 years. Maybe the time is right for some of these games to not have to go up against anything more than Spider Man 2 in the fall, cause that is sure to sell a boat load.
@arsmolinarc It's there, it's not exclusive
@Green-Bandit TBF, Microsoft is making up for several years. We're still waiting for basic news on games they showed trailers for ages ago, so this will be less new stuff, more "hey, here's what you were waiting for"
I don’t do Xbox but this is funny 😂
Yeh. Since I prefer the dualsense controller, I politely prefer playing any multiplatform game on PS5. My Series X has sadly become a great paperweight.
@BeerIsAwesome It could be worse. They could try and be edgy. It's social media so they are just playing the game so as long as you see through it then you're OK. Being cold and precise just doesn't cut the mustard these days.
True, and they probably run best on PS5.
I figured most of the games besides Spider-Man 2 and FFXVI were multiplat
Don't blame them. It won't take much from there showcase to beat what Sony showed.
It's wild how many people are saying that it was a bad showcase all because it didn't cater to their particular tastes. Perhaps expand beyond being a casual gamer who only settles for certain styles of play. I seen at least 15 games that I'm buying so it's definitely a mission complete for me. No one should have any expectations unless they're putting the show on themselves. All the whinning all because the ONE game you planned to buy wasn't shown is not necessary. Since it was so bad, why not sell your PS and see what other platform delivers to an infinitely dissatisfied community. Great job Sony, I've got at least 2k for you without including the portable.
@Pulse2 why would you care if you're actually a buyer? No matter what platform a great game is on you should be willing to buy it unless you're not capable. I counted at least 15 games that I'm buying for my PS5 and could care less what other platforms they're on.
@Green-Bandit An that all presuming Sony doesn't have some surprises up it sleeve over the coming weeks and months.
@Pulse2 i don’t disagree with that. But that seems to be a thing with dev’s at the moment, cause the next Sony show will be that at this point. But be it dumb luck or not. MS is not sitting bad after this show. Which i don’t care if they were or not i have all 3 consoles, but i would be lying if i said i wasn’t routing for MS to be more competitive so we had better competition. It serves us all well in the end. Time will tell and i wouldn’t be on bit surprised if after the MS show i am asking how they missed a layup Sony gave them haha 😀
@AdamNovice
I don't see this as a dig, its just MS trying to make sure the word is out there on what is actually coming to Xbox, before the narrative "these games are not coming to Xbox" gets started, something that can always happen among more casual gamers.
Xbox actually has done similarly in previous Sony showcases.
Also, Phil congratulated Sony on a nice presentation, and I honestly think he was not being ironic.
@arsmolinarc Dragon Dogma 2 is in there. Second row, second column.
@knowles2 they very well could, i mean we know they have stuff in the works. But it seems unlikely it has enough gameplay or they would have included some today. These shows cost money and take time to plan and put together. I am not sure we will see another show in weeks, but before the end of the year is possible. I mean they are selling consoles at a rapid pace and Spider-Man 2 will sell by the boat loads, so they aren’t panicking that us hardcore gamers aren’t thrilled with the show. It’s MS that has to win back some gamers and earn the trust that they have the studios cooking up the right games. I am more sold that they do than others but i respect the doubt of others.
For what its worth, it does seem Konami and Sony are doing something similar with the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection. Even Konami's site is refusing to say anything about platforms, we simply know its coming to PS5 because it was in the show.
They might update/confirm all platforms after some similar window is over.
Great, exclusives are cancer
If either company wants to get a one up on the other get a physical edition of alan wake 2 going with some nice extras like energizer batteries and a fake prepaid verizon card.
RIP. I honestly don't care though, quality over quantity. Final Fantasy 16 and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 are gonna be amazing.
Also I play all multiplats on PlayStation only anyways, so they might as well be exclusives to me as well haha.
@ShogunRok Personally I'd love to see Sony/PlayStation do that, but they never will unfortunately.
Microsoft would be making a good point if their events didn't just feature multiplats.
We're at a point where Nintendo, MS and Sony rarely have exclusives.
I would say Microsoft are the worst for muddying if a game is exclusive or not so hopefully when they do there showcase, they are more transparent this year.
