Sony’s identified accessories as a meaningful growth vector within the PlayStation business, and it’s seen enormous success with products such as the DualSense Edge and Pulse 3D Headset. But it plans to aggressively expand its efforts in the area with products like Project Q, its new Remote Play streaming handheld, and official earbuds.
Just like AirPods, or any of the many rival products, the earbuds will feature “new wireless technology developed by SIE” which it claims will allow for low latency connectivity and lossless audio. You’ll be able to pair these with your PS5 or Project Q, and presumably a whole suite of other devices as well. They’ll come with a little storage case which doubles as a charger.
The platform holder said more information would be revealed later in the year, so you’ll need to sit tight for price and release date details. These should be a solid addition to PlayStation’s expanding product portfolio, however.

Bringing innovations…from Nintendo and Apple! These look cool though
I bought the 3D Pulse Headset at launch with my PS5. They promised 3D sound. Wasn't impressed. Why buy these?
@Uncharted2007 they do have 3D sound. Have you not calibrated yours? These earbuds are pointless, headphones deliver 100000x better audio for gaming
I expect the sound quality to be great but my first thought when seeing them was they look massive.
That sliding design on it looks kinda flimsy, kinda wish it was just a lid, but i'll probably be grabbing them because AirPods aren't supported on PS5 :c
I'm very interested. I like the Pulse Headset but after about an hour I have to take them off.
Yes! Finally some proprietary earbuds using non-standard technology.
Oh...wait...
After owning Apple Airpod Pro's for around 3 years, they are starting to crap out on me. When I use them now, there's a lot of static. They are barely usable. If these are priced lower than or comparatively with Apple, I will buy these instead as my replacement earpods.
@Splat same here I’m constantly pulling them around my neck cuz my ears get super sweaty.. playing Zelda: TokT with them and it’s super loud around my neck
A lot of technologies are supposed to be installed like any other same products, noise cancelling or so. How about 3D audio? So, the problem is the price. What I wish is it won't be equivalent to PSVR2.
@ThunderSteve85 Are they 1st generation? If so, the static is a known issue. Apple will replace them free of charge if so.
Lossless is kinda a big thing for earbuds, isn't it?
So if you have an ipad for remote play and airpods for wireless audio, you really dont need any of these then?
I don’t think they were called “PlayStation AirPods” 😂
They look very cool but I will probably pass
I'd buy them I like earpods
@Vacuumator thanks for the heads up! I will Google the model number and check! Appreciate the info!
"It's like people who say Tannoy when they mean public address system. Tannoy is a brand name”.
@ThunderSteve85
According to the support page it’s only for AirPods Pro manufactured before October 2020. Take them into an Apple Store and they will test them. The replacement programme runs for three years after manufacturer of the first unit.
Offtopic question: is there any difference in sound features between Sony PlayStation Gold Wireless Headset (the last "black" version) and Sony Pulse 3D Wireless Headset?
Currently I'm using the Gold Headset with my PS5, and I am wondering, if I upgrade to the Pulse 3D, will I get any improvement in sound quality / features?
@theMEGAniggle I think the earbuds are meant to compliment the new handheld. Better for on-the-go gaming than a large pair of non-foldable headphones. I agree that headphones offer better sound than earbuds though.
@skaarj217 I'm also using the Gold. I don't think there's any substantial difference. Just the new styling to match the PS5. All the 3D audio processing is done in the PS5 itself, not the headset.
Nice that they also have Bluetooth, so you can use them wirelessly with your phone and not just your PS5 like the Pulse.
@Critonic yeah that makes sense
@NeonPizza might have to copy you with that idea
