Capcom confirmed earlier this week that Street Fighter 6 had attracted one million players, and it’s since followed up with confirmation that the critically acclaimed sequel has now sold one million copies. With one million players under its belt, it was always likely the title was close to selling one million copies to consumers anyway, but now we have confirmation.
It’s reached the milestone quicker than Street Fighter 5, although that game did launch on fewer platforms overall. However, the positive word of mouth surrounding the latest and greatest instalment is likely to have a big impact, and we wouldn’t be surprised if it passed a few more major milestones over the coming months.
As previously reported, Street Fighter series sales are now over 50 million, which is impressive. The publisher says that it’s committed to the release moving forwards, and we’re sure we’ll learn more about its live service plans for the title – including its first DLC content – during next week’s scheduled Capcom Showcase.

I will probably never touch it unless it comes to PS+. I'm not a huge fighting game fan and the art style does nothing for me. I'm glad people are enjoying though.
I am still big time on the fence about wether to get this or not. I want to wait for the MK1 gameplay and see how that makes me feel. I would like one fighter to have on PS5 or Series X. But i would want a fighting stick to go with it. So it’s an investment. SF6 for sure has my attention tho, and i am glad to see it selling well and getting good reviews. Most players on it seem to be having a good time.
Bought it along with Diablo 4 yesterday and its very good, Capcom is just putting out hit after hit right now.
@Green-Bandit as a fighting game fan I’m enjoying this one so far , I just need more free time to play it lol. But I’m also pretty excited for mk1 and Tekken 8. It’s a good time to be a fighting game fan no matter which series is your favorite.
Well deserved...its absolutely brilliant. A top notch brawler
I’ve only really played a few hours of World Tour but I’m enjoying it so far.
I've been out of the fighting game loop for a while but this does an amazing job of welcoming back players like me and newcomers. I've had an amazing time playing with the F500 elite arcade stick and there's a crazy amount of content, that and the world tour mode is almost like a modern Final Fight 4 crossed with Yakuza lite
This is the best street fighter game since third strike.
I've been absolutely obsessed with this game since launch. Just an excellent game across the board. The combat is simply sublime and even as a series veteran I'm having a blast with World Tour mode. I know it is still early but honestly it's going to take a miracle for something to top it for my personal GOTY.
Capcom has officially transformed back into Capgod now.
Super glad that the game is doing so well so far. I hope more people overtime will pick it up and join into the FGC because all of the new modes and accessibility features makes this the best fighter for anyone to pick up, even over MK imo
@twitchtvpat Glad you are liking it. Most people seem happy with SF6. Yes indeed it is a great time to be a fighting fan. Can’t wait to see MK1 gameplay.
@Green-Bandit I would personally recommend SF6 if you’re going for one fighter. Granted I won’t deny I’m not biased but personally speaking having followed the FGC for what feels like a decade now Street Fighter would be the wiser investment year over year. Mortal Kombat most likely will come out have a year if that of fun and DLC here and there and then NRS will just kinda say alright we’re done and then start teasing Injustice 3 or something and with the Devs goes the fans. All of a sudden MK isn’t “cool” anymore or something. With SF tho if V is anything to go by we could get support for VI for like 5 or 6 years with loads of patches, buffs/nerfs, characters, all of it. So personally I think down the line you’ll have more fun with VI. Sorry if that was too much I’m really passionate about fighting games.
Probably the best fighter I've ever played. The RPG part of the game is the best introduction to fighting mechanics ever. The arcade AI is incredible. A great package brought down a bit by graphics held back by last gen.
@Ryne-Gaia don’t be sorry, that was really good info and something i had not even considered, but i know that is true from even the mild interest i have shown fighting games over the last 5-6 years. Capcom does a great job with support. I loved SF back in the day, tho i will admit i was always a little better at MK and Tekken, maybe cause i was a Blanka player. Maybe that had something to do with me being average haha. But again thank you for that info and that just swung me a little closer to getting SF6.
