Street Fighter 6 is a pretty big deal, if you haven't noticed, and has been selling like gangbusters in the days since it launched. Fans seem content-ish (at least, for the time being), and critics loved this reinvention of the iconic classic, although none so much as the venerable Japanese outlet Famitsu, which has awarded the fighter a perfect score.
Famitsu has been published since 1987, and in all that time, only 29 games (thanks VGC) have been honoured with that most perfect (if odd, compared to Western rubrics) score, 40/40. The most recent was actually only this month, with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom similarly honoured. On PlayStation, Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding were the last titles so recognised.

This generation Street Fighter 6 will be hard to beat when it comes to fighters.
Well deserved. I'm never been more engaged and enthralled by a fighting game than by Street Fighter 6. What a winner!
World Tour is absolutely amazing, and the Battle Hub is genius. This is how you do a live service game right here, make an amazing game and keep it going with events and new content.
I think the only reason at this point i don’t just buy this game is all the threads saying the easier controls is hurting the online experience which i can not speak directly to. Plus i want to see more of Tekken and MK1. However i can’t deny i really want the game and think it looks great. However Diablo 4 released and Diablo is a top 3 franchise all time for me. I played Diablo 2-3 more than any other game franchise combined x12. So i do need to pulled away from that, but wow i am so happy for Capcom. They seem to keep on rolling with good news and money in the bank.
@Green-Bandit I've been playing SF for 30 years. The easier controls are fine. Sure I've lost to people using them, but that's cos they played better. I think it's not an issue for most players, just a vocal few. And it has 100% helped people into the genre, so job done.
While Street fighter 6 looks quite excellent and deserves that perfect score let's never forget their 40/40 Nintendogs score 😅 #neverforget
@Green-Bandit i will admit, as a fair street fighter player using the classic control system some of the players using the easier control method have trashed me in online battles but i agree with @Justaperson. They fought better than me and i wasnt careful enough. Its so addictive tho and i never play any games online. Deffo got that "just one more fight" thing going for it. Its a damn good fighting game thats for sure.
@Kidfunkadelic83 gotta admit it's more frustrating to lose to modern, but for sure my losses are on me! Who are you seeing using M? Mostly Ken players for me. One Zangief too, but he was easy enough to deal with, surprisingly.
Gonna wait for Tekken personally but this does look great.
@Justaperson almost every character in the game ive encountered using modern. Jamie has been the most awkward to deal with tho. Im a ken player but i use classic.
I really hope we see SF6 getting some wider recognition when it comes to awards season. Fighting games have always felt like they're relegated to the "Best Fighting Game" category, no matter how good they are. Hopefully with scores like these, we can see SF6 nominated for GOTY, if not win.
@Green-Bandit Honestly I would say don't even worry about it. From what I've played you won't lose anything to a modern player compared to classic players. They both have their own strengths and weaknesses. Plus most people I've ran into online and most others from what I've been seeing have been using classic anyways so it really is a non-issue. Waiting for Tekken and MK1 gameplay is all good, but if you are on the fence about SF6, I can easily say that it's worth the pick-up even so early into its life
This game is superb.
I haven’t played a SF game since 2 on the SNES but I’m having a blast learning and when I get enough courage I’ll take my character online to get annihilated!
@Kidfunkadelic83 Hi there friend.
I´m also a Ken main player and I have Luke as my secondary.
Still trying different characters like Dee Jay and Marisa though.
And just like you and @Justaperson mentioned, I have also encountered many Modern players and they Drive Impact and anti-air you like it´s nothing.
Oh and I finally fought a Dhalsim player and he was as nuts and unpredictable as I thought he was going to be.
And how obnoxius JP comand grab and gound attacks are?
But still, I´m having a lot of fun playing a good SF game.....
Cause it´s been awhile.
Cheers and happy gaming
@RaZieLDaNtE we should have some fights sometime buddy. I believe we are friends on the ps network.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Yeah, absolutely.
We could do some Ken mirror matches and also try some other characters as well.
Today is my day off so I´ll home in the afternoon playin SF6 and then will watch Summer Game Fest.
Hit me up when you can.
Cheers
@RaZieLDaNtE sounds good to me buddy 👍. My son has just got it for his PC too after trying it on my playstation so maybe you can create a custom tournament or something. Ive not delved too far in to the othe menu options just a bit of single player and some ranked matches.
I bought it on release and I absolutely love it.the world tour mode is brilliant especially the hidden arcade games.yournormal single player stuff and online is awesome and I love battle hub.mymonlyngripe is that the story mode single player could have animated cut scenes instead of still images.overall a 10❤️❤️
Oh and a note to.ther developers.this is how a game should be released with no massive bugs and glitches.
According to my PS5 I already have almost 50 hours logged in on the game. Lots of sleep lost playing it! Even as a long time fan I've always had trouble recommending the series to new players as SF hasn't really been known for single player content for the most part. However World Tour along with many other things has changed that in all the best ways.
There is so much content packed into this game and all of it is pretty much at least good if not great! I know there are folks holding out to see MK and Tekken but I gotta say it's going to take some serious work to take down SF6 for me. The game is absolutely superb in every sense of the word.
@RaZieLDaNtE Yeah I use Dhalsim - a lot of differences from V, so its slow going, but I think he's gonna be a lot of fun!
I don't know why other reviewers in the industry aren't adopting the Famitsu methodology. Having several viewpoints and a consensus score makes a lot of sense although I guess we can go to Metacritic for that too.
@Kidfunkadelic83 @Justaperson @Fighting_Game_Loser i agree with y’all, it was important to introduce modern controls to allow the game to expand to more and different players. It was nice to see both of you take the blame for the loss and not blame the controls. I mean the game has a block button for those that claim they are loosing to new non experienced players. I really want to give it a try, i used to love SF back in the day, i skipped 5 but had SF4 and liked it. I have seen some players online asking Capcom to make online modes that separate the controls. So modern control players in one and classic in another. Seems unnecessary but at the same time it would please the more hardcore fans and give the newer players something to strive to get better towards. Your thoughts on that? Thanks for sharing tho, this game seems to get nothing put positive reviews and most players loving it.
@Green-Bandit I think that'd be a bad move. It honestly doesn't feel like that much of an advantage. Its like anything else - we just have to learn the specific advantages and disadvantages of each characters modern setup (eg Zangief can only do his heavy SPD, I think).
And if it wasn't this, people would be complaining about drive impact instead.
Just like they did with focus attack in 4, v-system in 5, universal parries in 3, and even supers in whichever SF2 added them.
BTW, 6 feels a little more like 4 to me, so you might dig it.
@Justaperson yeah i mean that’s a fair point. It’s like i said earlier we have a block button for a reason and it’s not as if they are cheating or the moves hit for more damage. I think you have your idea’s for the game in the right place. I never played 5 so it’s nice to hear 4 and 6 have similar feel.
@Green-Bandit yeah, as stated above i wouldnt want to see the community split between modern and classic modes. I dont think it matters too much to be honest. I mean, it might be easier to pull off a soecial move etc but i bet i can do it equally as fast as someone in manual mode. I think the key to this game is learning a few combos.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Yeah good point and the more i think about it i am agreeing with y’all. Like i said i read that somewhere online were players were saying they should spilt it, not my idea as i haven’t even played it yet. But i am in agreement with you that i don’t see that doing much for the game.
