Developer Guerilla Games has added a touching tribute to the late great Lance Reddick, who sadly passed away earlier this year, in the latest update for Horizon Forbidden West. Reddick portrayed the complicated, morally grey character of Sylens across both Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, and the memorial, as captured by MdeavorVP on Twitter, can be seen below.
The scenic place of remembrance looks to have been surreptitiously added in the most recent update, but things rarely go unnoticed when it comes to modifying an existing video game world. It's easily accessible for anyone who wants to take the time to visit, located in the newly-added region introduced in Burning Shores.
In the interest of not spoiling the setup for the expansion, click through the below post from Redditor Sfalj for directions.
It remains unclear how the character of Sylens will be addressed in the future, with the writers not having had time to consider the question last we heard. Will you be paying your digital respects in Horizon Forbidden West? Let us know in the comments section below.

I paid my respects in Destiny and I'll do it again in Horizon.
I'm surprised it wasn't added until now! It's nice to see. The series just won't be right without him no matter what they do. Destiny too. I'm not a destiny player but he's the only thing I actually remember from the brief time I did play D2 and his character in the demo is what made me buy it back when it was a full price game. Didn't even know who he was but his character was just cool enough to bring me in (and then the gameplay brought me back out lol).
I’ll definitely visit this location once I start Burning Shores.
@TeapotBuddha. Incredible series. One of the first, along with The Sopranos, responsible for the television renaissance. I did not know Idris Elba was British when it originally aired. A bit envious. Wish I were watching it for the first time. Enjoy.
@TeapotBuddha Still the best series going, in my opinion. Loved Lance in that too.
I like this actor il check this out 👍
Beautiful. Fitting it's located near where Hollywood Boulevard would be in view of the Hollywood sign. RIP legend.
@TeapotBuddha The Wire is the best TV show ever imo... and I don't say that lightly.
It's a hard start, very unwelcoming in some ways, but the morally grey position everybody is in is just unprecedented. Almost no one is without some form of sin/guilt... perhaps Lester Freamon and a few others. But crucially rather than casting judgement on many complex characters it more suggests the WHY people do what they do which is often situational. As such you often have more sympathy for characters who in other shows would be polarised simply as 'bad'. So much nuance and the acting and writing is fantastic.
Enjoy! (I've watched it 4-5 times, but you've tempted me to go back again)
Very nice of them to do this!
This is very touching, and a lovely tribute. I will make sure to load this up and visit it in rememberance.
Respect to guerilla games for this tribute. R.i.p. to lance reddick .a iconic actor.word up son
Warp speed, don’t rainbow read me!
Got to know Lance Reddick from watching Fringe; such a great actor! Mr. Reddick will be greatly missed. Love this tribute!
@Total_Weirdo Congratulations for one of the worst comments I’ve seen on this site in almost 10 years of being here.
@BusyOlf I, too, wish I was Levar Burton
I was watching The Legend of Vox Machina S2 today and I noticed he had one of the voices there (as an evil dragon). Very recognizable voice! He was great in anything he was in and a killer dragon as well.
And yes, The Wire is one of the best series ever... I'm gonna watch Homicide Life on the Streets soon and hope that has some of the same magic. It's from the same write apparently, with some of the Wire actors too.
Just finished forbidden west..Great and memorable game.
@TeapotBuddha Not to be a broken record or anything but The Wire is legitimately the best series of all time.
