Two new Persona titles have leaked, although they’ll hardly come as a surprise after strong rumours recently. Both games emerged on Atlus’ Instagram account ahead of schedule, although the strong Xbox marketing presence suggests they were intended to debut during Microsoft’s own event later in the week. The last time the Redmond firm had dibs on Atlus announcements, it prevented the firm from confirming the PlayStation versions for several days. We suspect a similar situation may occur here as well.
As for the games, though, Persona 3 Reload is the heavily rumoured remake of Persona 3 – and it looks like it’s been given a distinctly Persona 5 flavoured lick of paint. That’s due out in early 2024. Meanwhile, Persona 5 Tactica looks like a grid-based Fire Emblem-style reimagining of the hit JRPG, albeit with a chibi look. That’s due out on 17th November, 2023.
Obviously, we will still have to await confirmation of PS5 and PS4 releases, but we’d say they’re relatively safe bets given the bulk of the Persona fanbase plays on PlayStation platforms. In the meantime, we imagine Atlus will be kicking itself for accidentally setting these trailers live ahead of time.

Hmm, I'm not too interested about Persona 5 Tactica in general but I'll have to watch gameplay on it (whenever that is). I am looking forward to Persona 3 Reload though.
NEAT! I'll be consuming both of these... It'll be interesting to see how much is added/expanded upon for P3R!
I'm a sucker for tactics games so P5T should be right in my wheelhouse.
Now do we get a hat trick and a Persona 6 teaser gets thrown in the mix?
That P3R trailer looks pretty damn good. They got me. Again. Again again.
Excited for more Persona, especially 3 remake.
DON'T FORGET GUYS
We will have to wait a whole day to know if the games are coming to PS. So ... see you all on monday 😂
@Mintie I'm going to say not yet because you've got to assume it would have leaked with these two.
@GymratAmarillo May be even longer unfortunately. Last time they had 72 hour embargoes in place. This time next week we should know for sure.
@ManifoldCuriosity Probably just be boasting because they’re going to both be day one on GamePass.
Don’t know of anyone who thought they were going to be completely Xbox exclusive.
It really was P5 Tactics lmao but I wasn't expecting it with the Q models. That's a slight bummer
And P3R does look good but too similar to P5. I was kinda hoping it's have the demon models from SMTV cause those look insanely gorgeous
Ahhh, I wanted P5 Tacos...
In all seriousness, all over P3 Reload. P5T, not so much, not a fan of that genre, so I might end up watching a playthrough.
Tactica almost looks like a sequel to the persona Q games. It's too spin-offy to me.
P3Remake i am all in on. Looks just like what i wanted. Curious to see more details.
Though i must complain how Xbox proudly shows us games like these and Playstation seems almost ashamed of them. They should know better. JRPG's were what made the PS1.
@ManifoldCuriosity Well we know how it works now with the embargoes. I don't think anyone realistically expects either of these to be exclusive.
Mixed opinions on these. I was excited for a Persona Tactics game but I pictured it looking more like FF Tactics with cool sprites. And as @Judal27 says Persona 3 remake looks good but It looks a lot like Persona 5 and will likely reuse the demon models.
Not to sound too debbie downer I'm just hoping Atlus isn't getting complacent
@awp69 I don't know why. I just have to wait 2 months after launch and i get the game for 30 odd euros. Which is much cheaper than gamepass. 😅
Well definitely coming to playstation. Lose millions of players on playstation to 30 on xbox
All in on Persona 3 Reload when it drops on Playstation. Tactica we'll have to see. Not entirely sold and it feels a little unecessary - i'd hope that is a lower priced release at launch.
Still unhappy with Sony for letting the Persona series slip - i've no problem with it being multiplatform, but as the home of the franchise, and after they put out a statement saying how important it was to them only a couple of years ago, it leaves a bad taste seeing it being announced by xbox and dropping on gamepass.
Same applies to anything Like a Dragon related.
Oh boy, my wallet...
The devil survivor games on 3ds were pretty cool so atlus do have some experience with tactical games, I think it could be good, even if p5 is starting to feel a bit overused.
@Rob_230
Money talks more than fanbase to Atlus and Sega. They have showed that they dont care about their fans.
They dont even believe in their games since desperate for gamepass money, they know nobody at Xbox will buy their game.
@Rmg0731 That's exactly why these games won't be xbox exclusive, we don't need the embargoes to lift to know these are coming to playstation and maybe nintnedo.
These games will come to PS and Switch, I'm not worried about that.
What irritates me to no end is that Persona 3 Reloaded has no indication of the female protagonist and Persona 5 Tactics once again doesn't have Akechi or Sumire.
Atlus really, really, really hates its fans.
Like I expected, Persona 3 remake looks good but like… I’ve already played that. Many times. Persona’s gameplay is largely unchanged since 3, I dunno what they could really do to hook me with modern advancements.
@Mintie I have a feeling Sony still have the marketing rights to the new main numbered titles, so you may have to wait for a playstation showcase for that.
I have Game Pass but still haven’t messed around with Persona 3. Maybe I’ll just wait on this remake.
Also if you notice at the end of the trailers it doesn't say "console exclusive" or "launch exclusive" like they usually do with games that are only for xbox or timed like stalker 2 and ark 2 etc
So that's a definite sign they will be coming to playstation, and judging by the visuals I'd say even the switch will be getting these games.
Yeah, this would happen not long after buying the lazy remaster on Switch lol.
Can't complain, though. I really wanted this.
P5 Tactics looks cute as well. I like the Persona Q-esque artstyle.
@Nem PlayStation are definitely not ashamed of them, I don't get where you got that from. Sony have showed a few anime games over the last few shows such as Eternights, Honkai Star Rail and Granblue Relink.
The reason xbox get to show these games now is because they are paying a lot of money to do so.
According to this leaker who got it right
https://www.thegamer.com/persona-3-remake-wont-be-definitive-fes-portable-content/
Its not a "definitive" version and is based of the vanilla version which is disappointing, not even FES content.
Oh lord almighty give em both to me.
@UltimateOtaku91 That's so they can sell the FES remake a couple of years later.
I'll hold off on watching until the official reveal, but I'm certainly eagerly excited to see Persona 3 Remake. Tactical games aren't normally my thing, but it wouldn't be impossible for a Persona 5 themed tactical game to win me over.
Imagine if its revealed its exclusive to Xbox? Will be nice seeing the mental gymnastics Phil and his fanboys will say to justify it and yeah i actually have a bad feeling P3 will be a exclusive as will many other 3rd party games that have ties to PS. We all know MS hate making games and Phil has pretty much admitted that so buying 3rd party exclusivity seems par the course.
@WallyWest
If exclusive to Xbox Atlus just killed Persona and maybe themself.
Wouldnt be suprise if it went exclusive.
Phil says he hate exclusive and then buy up everything to make exclusive.
@WallyWest The trailers don't say anything about being console exclusive or launch exclusive though, trailers of games like stalker 2 and ark 2 do. So it's highly unlikely they will be xbox exclusive.
Plus the leakers online who got the release date window and the games name correct earlier today also say its coming to playstation consoles, so it's pretty much a given. Even Gematsu say they understand that it's coming to multiple platforms and these trailers are just xbox branded for their showcase.
Also Atlus surely know the series would die by making it exclusive to xbox, the main bulk of sales are from Japan and that would not go down well over there, also xbox have a what 2/3% market share in Japan so they would be losing a lot of money to make it exclusive.
Awesome, I will still buy them both to support my favourite dev but I'm glad they're day one on Game Pass too.
@ShogunRok
You never see it coming
dang, a persona 2 remake would have been much more exciting... it needed it a lot more than the latter. still, pretty neat to see p3 getting this treatment but i don't think i have it in me to re-play such a long game. as for the tactics game... looks like something that was designed for the 3ds or switch. it does not look particularly good to me... more like a 3rd rate tactics game with a persona skin. i think it is time to move on from p5...
Why not Persona 6? P3 is fine as it is, a sequel would be much more interesting.
Honestly I was completely expecting P5T to be a tactics game. You don't put a T at the end of a game title in a long running series unless its a tactics title lol
@Porco I'm hoping for both a remake of Persona 1 and 2 but I think it makes sense they'd want to do 3 first. 3 created the formula for the modern Persona game, while the first two are lacking some of the key features people have come to expect from the series. There would be a heavy debate on whether or not to implement a social link like system and that might be a headache for another day.
@UltimateOtaku91
I highly doubt anyone would sign a deal that is so long reaching as that. The last mainline title was released in 2016, Sony would basically have had to have been able to lock a 10 year deal on everything Persona? I highly doubt it.
Does not mean that P6 won't be timed PS5 exclusive, but any such deal will likely be new negotiations. Reveal is going to supposedly be later this year, so eventually we will find out. I personally hope they give up on taking exclusivity money, from anyone.
Hell, bring Persona Q 1 and 2 to PS, Xbox and PC (and switch!)!
@WallyWest
People keep bringing up that supposedly Phil does not want 3rd party exclusives, but that seems to be a selective reading of a 2015 quote:
(emphasis mine)
So he never said he would never aim for third party exclusives, just that it would not be their primary strategy long term.
As for anyone complaining about the possibility of a legacy PlayStation IP ever, even potentially, becoming an XBox exclusive, I do hope that same energy is being carried for things like Knights of the old Republic remake being PS5 exclusive.
I'm sure P3R and P6 wont be exclusives (at least not until the day MS decides to buy Sega.) P5T, who knows. The game looks very Persona Q-esque, and that spin-off is already not on PlayStation platforms. If someone offers them the money, Atlus/Sega will indeed take a deal that gives them enough money.
@UltimateOtaku91
As much as people here know the game, Persona is incredibly niche.
As of November 30, 2022, P5 Royale sold 3.3 million copies, 1 million of those as the combined result of Switch/PS5/XBox/PC and 2.3 million over several years on PS5.
The entirety of P5 "series" (combination of P5, P5R, P5Dancing in Starlight and P5Strikers, barely reaches 8.3 million. This means, at best (assuming Strikers and Dancing in Starlight didn't sell a single copy) the initial P5 release sold a max of 5 million copies. I honestly would not be shocked if the actual number is more between 3 and 4 million between the PS3 and PS4 baseline versions.
My point? These games likely make more money of their exclusivity/marketing deals and merchandize (anime/manga/collectibles) than they do out of sales as it is, they likely exist at all thanks to them taking some platform holder's money, be it for timed exclusivity or for inclusion in things like Game Pass or PSN+.
@Tharsman persona isn't a call of duty, but it's certainly a lot more popular than a lot of franchises out there.
Calling it niche and using the word millions several times in your explanation is kinda eh.
Not sure when Atlus and Xbox became besties, but sure if it comes to PlayStation I'll play P3 Reloaded, I just finished P3P on PS5, so I got my need satisfied, would be a fun replay.
The only issue i have with Persona 3 Reload. is that i've have to wait until Early 2024 for it. 😭
Otherwise, i can't wait to play it. i can finally put the PS2 version to rest, and pick it up on PC.
now all we need is a Persona 1 and 2 remastered or remake on all modern platforms. and i'll have all the Persona games!
@Porco I would love a remake of the original 2 (3 ) games
@NomNom A remake of 1 and 2 would be amazing. Persona on the original PS was one of my first PlayStation RPGs, but would love a remake that took a lot of freedoms, like introducing social links and a calendar system.
Interested in both, I hope atlus remake persona 4 golden next 😃
@UltimateOtaku91 Holy... that leak basically confirms P6 announcement which more than makes up for it. 😁
Not a fan of the Chibi look or the constant milking of P5. But P3R looks fire
@Porco Both parts of Persona 2 are brilliant. The PSP English patch of Eternal Punishment was worth the wait too.
@NomNom It's not Atlus that MS is besties with, it's Sega. They have some connections since the Dreamcast was developed in collaboration with MS
P3 was the first Persona game I've played back in the PS2 era and still to this day, my favorite Persona game. Definitely excited for this. I just hope this doesn't come out the same month as FFVII Rebirth. It's going to be multi-plat as well and MS just got the marketing right since they are close with Sega.
As for P5T, well, I'm ready to move on from anything P5 related at this point. They've already milked this out enough.
@KaijuKaiser "Without big daddy Windows I don't think they'd even be around today or for the past decade."
RRoD would have killed the brand without Microsoft money
It's always dumb seeing hate towards Xbox in these comment sections. Like who cares, you're probably gonna get the game anyways, what justifies you insulting a whole other fanbase that is identical to your own?
Also why are people already drawing to conclusions? @patronmacabre neither game isn't even officially announced yet and you're already assuming the worse.
Anyways can't wait for Persona Q3 on the Nintendo 4DS.
@HotGoomba Yeah, it's weird, since it will be multi-platform like the remasters were.
Jrpg's in general should always be multiplat imo,so that they can get to a wider audience.
@Tharsman Phil can say what he wants but his actions speak far louder, the guy is a pro at bullsh*tting and even that quote you linked has aged like milk considering the amount of timed or exclusive deals he's made for Xbox in the past few years and the little focus he's put into 1st party to the point off saying they don't matter.
As for KOTOR well its also a PC game more so then Xbox and the remake is hitting that, its also a Switch game so its not really a Xbox game anymore. In fact the Xbox version is the worst version of the game as the PC and Switch versions are far better.
I’ll probably still play both, but P5T wasn’t what I was hoping for in another P5 spin-off. They could’ve went in so many different directions, but instead we get this. Kinda bummed but I’ll get over it and probably still love it.
P3 Reload on the other hand? Sign me up right now!! So pumped for this. I never played the originals, so I’m going in blind. I waited on P3P because of the remake rumors. So glad I was patient :’) I hope there are some new QOL additions besides the obvious upgrades so that people who played the original still have something different to look forward to!
The chibi style is a real disappointment - for a game based on its visual style as much as Persona, it's a fairly big deal
@Nem
It's just Microsoft having marketing rights. It has nothing to do with pride or shame, lol.
Yes Sir, will be buying day one. Now to wait on the anncouncement of the special editions
“Accidental” leak so they can have unreasonable people and console warriors talk about these games ending up exclusives lol 😆
@UltimateOtaku91 Nintendo 2DS sells more than Xbox at times over there.
Oh no I can't believe the Tactics one looks like that. Hate that art style.
The Tactics game could be MS exclusive, if they payed enough, because I don't think it will sell that great, even on Switch.
I mean, even P5 Strikers didn't do great, and that's the best Dinasty Warriors clone game ever, imho. Can't imagine a Chibi tactics game doing well.
was that a gamepass logo i see at the end? Day 1 gamepass? Nice!
Disappointed in Tactics but can't wait for P3 as its my personal favourite. I hope they keep the darker tone that 3 had, rather than try to make it more like 4 and 5.
@TheTony316 I see people are not really understanding what i mean. Sony has great JRPG IP they don't use. Wild Arms, legend of dragoon, rogue galaxy, etc.
By ashamed i mean they are afraid to bet on them with modern games and show them off proudly.
I hope P3RE tones down the gun violence — I mean “evoker” violence. Either way, I will probably buy it.
On P5T, I am frustrated and not really interested. Atlus, just because I love P5R — a turn based RPG — doesn’t mean I also want dancing, fighting, musuo/hack-and-slash, and now tactical games and I think it’s bizarre to drag the characters across so many genres (though I get it from a financial perspective). But — dang it — can I just get P6 or another turn based P5? Maybe send my phantom thieves to college? … And where is Kasumi?!
@Nem I kinda agree with you on this.
If it's not a 3rd person cinematic action game, Sony is most likely to not put much trust or effort in it.
I still wished Japan studio was successful,that would have given Sony a insensitive to push for those kinda games.
@koffing There was more gun violence in P5 than there was in P3...
@Nem
I'd love to see a new Wild Arms or Legend Of Dragoon.
Many people blame Sony's current direction for the lack of japanese first party games but we haven't seen Wild Arms since 2006 and LOD was a one off from 23 years ago. So, even the "old quirky" Sony had no faith in those games.
@rachetmarvel i have a friend who was suicidal and even just watching me play p3 was upsetting to them. I get that’s not everyone, but my friend would like to play p3 and doesn’t feel like the current version will work specifically because of that regular animation. In P5 you mostly can avoid using guns if you choose.
Another pathetic attempt by Xbox to pretend these games are xbox exclusives.
Is there any more Xbox related news that Push Square wants to post? Over on Pure Xbox they have made a claim the games have been announced by Atlus. Here on Push Square they have been leaked by Atlus. On Nintendo Life they have been accidentally released by Atlus. I am sure some where somebody is typing up the “New Persona Games - Everything we know so far” article.
@LightningLeader that is different. Sony hasn’t paid money for the developers to conceal games are coming out on other platforms. That’s Microsoft practice. They are doing the same with No man’s sky now on the website the new expedition is only mentioned to be released on PC, Mac and Xbox. No mentioning of Nintendo or PlayStation. There is a difference between not mentioning other platforms and paying developers to conceal that the game will be released on other platforms for several days.
@BadPlayerOne where does it show no info on being available on ps etc ?
Cause ythier tweet about it says
Ship of AI Souls
🔭New Expedition
🦾Robotics!
🪶Part 2 of 4 Part Arc
🧬Community Goal
🤖Assemble a Construct
🧠Find it a brain
✨Crimson Trail
⛑️Wayfarer's Helm
🎲ARG Clues
Free on all platforms 😍
If Microsoft had paid to keep that part secret they wouldn't be tweeting about it being free on all platforms
@ManifoldCuriosity to be fair all console fan boys do that not just Xbox , most see some random person post rubbish on twitter then pass it on LIKE it's fact ,if I had a penny for every bs tweet about consoles I'd b buying Activision with what interest I get on the money alone lol
Tactica is a skip for me. but maaan that persona 3 reload is an instant buy for sure.
@LightningLeader
They paid Atlus for not telling anyone that persona 3 and persona 4 ports was gonna come to playstation last year.
Same will most likely be on this games.
No other gaming company has done that.
On showcases they dont mention other platform exept pc. But after showcase everyone can see or read on publishers site which platforms game is coming to.
Exept one time when Microsoft bought 48hours not tell anyone exclusive.
@LightningLeader Persona 5 Royal, 4 Golden and 3 had a 72 hours embargo on them. During that time on the Atlas website was no mentioning of those games coming to PlayStation and Nintendo. Microsoft paid money for that 72 hour embargo. Just like they are paying for the same kind embargo for Persona 5 Tactics and Persona 3 Remake.
@LightningLeader
What scummy stuff has Sony done that doesnt Microsoft or Nintendo also is doing?
Exclusive third party games or timed exclusives?
Microsoft has had more of those last couple of years.
Buying studios?
Microsoft has bought more and bigger stuff.
Marketing rights for games and not coming to other subscription service?
Microsoft is doing that too.
@ManifoldCuriosity the problem is back in the day you could just ignore the village idiot but nowadays they have internet access and post crap they have zero proof on and ppl believe it ,them when it's proved its not a fact they will either defend it and move the goalposts or just not reply when u point out Thier wrong and again not console specific
E.g a post earlier
"Just like they are paying for the same kind embargo for Persona 5 Tactics and Persona 3 Remake"
Zero proof of this , the trailer was a accident so no one knows this is the case at all
But the rumour mill keeps turning and ppl churn it out like fact
At the end of the day even if this is true who cares ? It's still coming to everyone and they will get to play on Thier console of choice
@nessisonett absolutely. i have played the original ps1 release of eternal punishment but never completed it, partly because i was waiting for the fan translation of the psp port for many years. i have it installed on a psp go but need to get through innocent sin first.
@NomNom yup! even persona fans who jumped on the ship with persona 3 would likely appreciate the origins of the series.
@brn70121 agreed. the series definitely hit its stride with persona 3. the quality of life updates and change in tone made the franchise that much more... digestible for a wider audience. i don't think i would include social links with a remake but they could certainly modernize it enough to make it an enjoyable experience in the modern era. that said, even a basic remaster of the psp ports of innocent sin/eternal punishment would be welcome. as for persona 1... the first person dungeon crawling wasn't for me personally.
It seems like the Spanish retailer Xtralife has accidentally listed the Persona 3 Reloaded games and yeah it's coming to Playstation and the Switch, nice box art too.
@LightningLeader
How did Sony pretend that MGS3 was a PS5 exclusive? PC and Xbox were announced right after the showcase.
Last year, Microsoft had a 72 hour embargo for the Persona games. Atlus didn't say anything about a Playstation version until the embargo was up.
I'll get both games when they're $20 New or free with PS+, I don't trust Atlus.
I can totally see them re-releasing Persona 3 Reload at full price with all of the missing P3P and FES content (Female Character and The Answer DLC).
