After a brief delay towards the tail end of last week, Capcom has launched Street Fighter 6’s first Battle Pass – or Fighter Pass, as the publisher has named it. Structured exactly the same as in games like Fortnite, the Early Summer Vibes season will run until 2nd July, so you don’t have an enormous amount of time to complete it.
However, there’s some good stuff available – especially with the Premium Track, which costs 250 Fighter Coins, or £3.99/$4.99 in real money. For example, you’ll immediately unlock the retro game Legendary Wings, and you’ll also be able to grab some new seasonal cosmetics, stickers, emotes, and classic Super Street Fighter 2 soundtracks.

The free version of the Fighter Pass includes some Fighter Rentals, which you’ll be able to use when DLC characters release later on, as well as some extra profile titles and an emote. But if you do pay for the premium track, you’ll be able to earn at least 250 Fighter Coins back by reaching Level 30. This will obviously allow you to buy the next season for free.
You progress the Fighter Pass by earning Kudos, which can be done in any of the game’s modes, including World Tour and Fighting Grounds. There are also daily, weekly, and monthly challenges which unlock some Kudos as well. So all in all, this is looking like a pretty engaging addition to the game, and we’ll probably be paying for the premium version. How about you?

I wasn't exactly impressed with the pass itself, but the fact you can earn back the fighter coins it makes it potentially worth it.
You had me at five bucks for Legendary Wings.
So how do you get Kudos outside of the daily, weekly and monthly challenges? Because there doesn't seem to be much available through them, especially if you don't play multiplayer.
Maybe it's just me, but I'm slightly confused by this. It obviously sits outside of the character pass DLC? Where can the music be used? Perhaps I'm just not used to stuff like this as I don't play any live service games (though I suppose I do if SF6 is now considered one).
Maybe capcom should sells individual arcade games in sf6, like punisher or alien vs predator. I don't think those 2 games are available on ps4/ps5.
I ****ing hate this ****.
~~hands over the 5 bucks~~
Capcom's confusing DLC method continues. In a year we will have the same mess as SF5.
@Matroska You can get it for completing Arcade mode, levelling up Bonds in World Tour, playing practice mode, etc etc. You're basically earning it all the time.
@belmont What's confusing about a Battle Pass? Practically all games have them these days, no?
$5 for a 3 week battle pass? And people get mad that other games charge $10 for 3 MONTHS. Wild.
@get2sammyb Isn't this different than the battle pass that has the DLC characters? I remember when I tried to buy the game it had an 100€ version with some pass with more characters. Or was this supposed to be a season pass?
It may be just me but the only multiplayer games I play are fighting and those very causally, I mostly stick to Single Player.
@belmont I think you're confused. Battle Pass just unlocks some extra cosmetics as you play the game.
@wiiware There's 1 big reason why you don't see those games. Licensing
Damn, if they keep rolling that being able to get the next battle pass by finishing the previous one, that's a huge incentive to keep everyone invested long term.
Maybe not so great for making money though lol, so the pessimist in me thinks that's just for this month. Great stuff so far though, makes me a lot keener to throw the 4 quid in.
At £3.99 i bought it and as you earn that back i shell use it for the next one.
@belmont The Ultimate version gets you the Year 1 Season Pass that gets you the extra characters and a ton of cosmetics. This is just a regular battle pass to earn some cosmetics over the next month, pretty much every live service game does them.
@Hundred_Hand_Slap Yeah, it's kind of suck there's no way to play those games officially on current console, I want to play those games on ps5 and switch 😕
@get2sammyb Irony? Because, of course, having a "Battle Pass" AND a "Fighter Pass" is not inherently confusing at all. It's nearly as not confusing as having tons of different editions to buy of a game, with different digital content and different access tiers. And because practically all games have it theses days it (which is wrong, by the way), that just evaporates every feel of confusion about it. And I would never in the world believe that these (dis)service game-shenanigans are purposefully build to confuse you, so that you better buy everything, before you miss a worthless emote. Like ingame currency, which is just there to make it easier for you to see how much money you pay, not to confuse you.
No problem, when people like certain service-games ("Street Fighter 6" will probably the first one, I pay money for on a regular basis), but just because something is normal, doesn't mean it's okay and there is seriously NO reason to defend this nonsense. Sorry, your comment to me shows a lack of empathy and comes off a little arrogant.
If you have been sarcastic, I want to apologize.
Bought it. Figured for as much as I'm playing this game that I'd buy the Fighting Pass and see how the first run goes. Seems pretty cool and being able to earn the Fighter Coins back to roll into the next pass is a nice bonus.
Hard pass on this Fighters Pass. The avatar cosmetics would be nice to have but I'm not paying $5 for them. I'm mostly playing World Tour currently too, and I don't thiiiiiiink you van level up the Fighters Pass there?
Interesting how there's no regular fighter costumes here, only Avatar accessories. Maybe that'll be a big announcement during tonight's Showcase?
Also having a retro game on the Battle Pass instantly makes it ten times more enticing than most other BP's I've seen honestly XD
Oh battle passes? For a 60 quid game? It just gets better and better, how can capcom get away with this? Dam nasty and frightens me away from ever touching this, I'm good with 3rd strike and alpha 3 arcade versions any day, even championship edition Street fighter has more soul husk than this nonsense 🤢🤢
@huyi To be fair, the game is exceptional and there is enough content in the base game to last for months (or a lifetime depending on your degree of involvement in fighting games).
But I agree : battle passes and other ***** mtx should be banned from paid games, and only exist in free-to-play games. I'd say, hopefully nobody will buy this battle pass... but we both know it's not gonna happen. : (
@Fizza i think they know they are going to make more money with the character's skins/variations being always available than putting them behind grind. And if you put then on the bp and then put them for sale people would wait and wouldn't buy bp.
There's always a chance obviously but I would guess they are going to put avatar things inspired in other ips like Monster Hunter to carry the bps.
Game publishers are towing an immoral line here. I don't mind battle passes in comparison to say loot boxes or time saving microtransactions. In fact on Rocket League it was a lot of fun when I was skint and couldn't do much for a month. Had a boss time playing with @kyroki and it was great unlocking stuff as we went.
However they really need to have a game release, let it settle for a few months. Then release a battle pass a while later. The reality is, it's cut content to be sold piecemeal.
It doesn't matter if every game does it. I'm not happy and never have been, with day 1 dlc whichever form it takes. Especially if you have supported the game at release and are then locked behind another pay wall.
@Olmaz of course not, it's a way to encourage players to keep playing for as long as possible, it really is remarkable that they put this stuff into retail paid games like this 😔😔
@Olmaz @huyi To be fair though, all the battle pass gives you is cosmetics and soundtracks/misc stuiff.
You don't get any new fighters or pay to win perks with it.
@KidRyan In a way, you're not wrong : there is absolutely nothing that looks like even remotely interesting in this battle pass.
But at the same time I don't think the "it's just cosmetics" is a good one. How the game, and your character, looks is very closely tied to your enjoyment of the game... and producers know that well : this is why they sell cosmetics!
The "it's just cosmetics" is pure corporate BS that has been repeated so many times people have started believing it.
