It doesn't come as a huge surprise, but Armored Core 6 is set to be a lot bigger than its predecessors. Not just in terms of environments — the upcoming mecha title boasts relatively open level design — but with regards to campaign length as well.
According to a fresh video preview from Fextralife, Armored Core 6 is 50 to 60 hours long. Now, we don't know whether that's just the length of the main missions or whether it's everything, but if accurate, 50 hours would be more than enough to make this one of the most robust games in the series — and by some distance.
For context, the first four Armored Core titles clock in at around an average of 10 to 15 hours, with only Armored Core 5 on the PS3 boasting more than 40 hours of content — and that's if you wanted to hit 100 per cent completion.
Again, this isn't some kind of shocking revelation. It's clear that Armored Core 6 has a much bigger budget than past games, no doubt feeding off the success of FromSoftware's more modern projects. These are undoubtedly exciting times for veteran Armored Core pilots.
In case you missed it, our Armored Core 6 preview actually touches on the game's structure, which, as mentioned, is still mission-based.
Did you expect Armored Core 6 to last you a good 50 to 60 hours? Were you maybe hoping for something a bit more concise? Start drawing up those mech blueprints in the comments section below.

Armored Core fans are being treated to a feast with Rubicon!!
Fromsoftware and best bang for your buck goes hand in hand it seems. Also see elden ring 😃
I’ve never gotten into Armored Core before but I’m excited for this one. Sadly I kinda wish it was a smaller game, as limited time means most of these games are wayyy to big for me anymore. I’ll still play it, I just prefer smaller, tighter experiences.
I have enjoyed Armored Core through the years on PSX and PS2. I lost interest after that, but i am very excited to go back to its world!
@ErrantRob even at 5x the size it might still be short if you ignore the fluff... Knowing how completionist fextra's folk tend to be that time estimate will include S-ranking all the missions and doing all the optional malarkey.
But all the fluff is where the fun with the AC games comes... The tinkering with mechs, re-running missions to get that perfect ranking, hunting down all the optional stuff... Saving up all your cash to buy A Big Gun only to realise your legs are poop and now you can barely move without wobbling.
5x the length of previous games, or in other words, still 4x smaller than Elden Ring.
That's good to hear. I hope there's many missions in the style of the AC3 family of games, rather than the style of 4/V.
I don't remember if it was For Answer or Verdict Day that had like 4 total missions in the whole game. Granted they were pretty long, kind of like Left 4 Dead scenarios rather than the missions of previous games, but I didn't really dig it. The game felt so tiny.
Good, the world needs more mech games. Now bring on the new King's Field game.
I like the fact it’ll be a long game but my only personal issue is I just worry it’s gonna be super hard like a Souls game and not worth my money.
