Resident Evil 4 PS5 PS4 Push Square

Capcom has confirmed its masterful PS5, PS4 remake of Resident Evil 4 has now surpassed five million units sold. The milestone was announced in a press release where it's revealed the overall Resident Evil series has sold more than 142 million copies as of 31st March 2023. Having already released the free Mercenaries expansion, the Japanese publisher looks set to continue support with a free PSVR2 mode.

The press release reads: "Sales of Resident Evil 4 grew following a highly positive reception from customers as well as with the release of The Mercenaries, free additional downloadable content, driving worldwide sales over 5 million units." It continues: "Further, Capcom looks to continue expanding sales with the upcoming release of Resident Evil 4 VR Mode, free downloadable content compatible with PlayStation VR2."

In addition to the previously announced PSVR2 mode, DLC that brings back the Ada Wong-focused expansion Separate Ways is heavily rumoured to be in development. In fact, the PC version of Resident Evil 4 has already had a handful of new achievements added to it, which can't be for nothing. The game managed to sell three million copies within its first two days on the market, and then reached four million two weeks later.
