The 7th Guest VR is such an unexpected project it virtually demands attention. Based on the original, ground-breaking 90s FMV adventure game, this updated version transposes the plot and puzzles of the original to virtual reality headsets, like PSVR2. Announced earlier in the year, developer Vertigo Games confirmed today that the title will launch on 19th October.
“With The 7th Guest VR, we aim to push the boundaries of what is possible in virtual reality, just like the original game did with the CD-ROM,” game director Paul van der Meer explained. "The story trailer shows the real achievements of volumetric capture at this level, giving players a taste of the intense atmosphere as they observe the characters exploring the strange happenings of the mansion, and the sinister reasons they’ve been brought there.”
If you have any familiarity with the original The 7th Guest, then we imagine this is going to be a must-play. But even if you’ve never heard of the 90s classic, we reckon the use of FMV in a virtual reality environment could prove quite ground-breaking here. We’re eager to see just how well it works when the game launches later this year.

Definitely picking this one up. Sierra squad this month, ruinsmagus next month, this in October. Too much.
And on to the wishlist it goes! I only vaguely remember the original, but this looks phenomenal. Got a bit of the first time on the Haunted Mansion at Disney vibes.
Sold and sold.
One of the first games I played - can’t wait to try it on PSVR2. Am smiling at the mere thought of it!! Please be good!
I cannot wait for this! A friend of mine had it on CDi back in the day but this looks like a massive leap from that.
PSVR2 has been, by far, the most exciting thing about this gen for me.
Oh wow, this was an awesome game back in the day.
too bad its on vr
This game was an event in itself back in the day. O love the fact that VR now provides a medium where developers and creatives can really push boundaries, as traditional gaming has stagnated over time.
Les Mills Bodycombat uses FMV for their trainers as well. That looks so freaking amazing to see "real" people in 3D inside VR, instead of a CGI rendered character!
I feel this one is going to be really special just for the fact that they use 3D scanned FMV actors!
It's going to make the experience feel so much more immersive and lifelike!
