There’s really not a lot we can say about this TMNT: The Last Ronin trailer, which debuted during THQ Nordic’s showcase yesterday. The game, which had previously been teased as influenced by favourites like Sony Santa Monica’s recent God of War reboot, is being developed by Destroy All Humans!’ Black Forest Games, and has been inspired by a gritty 2020 comic book reboot of the same name.
“Who is the Last Ronin?” ponders the press release. “In a future, battle-ravaged New York City, a lone surviving Turtle embarks on a seemingly hopeless mission seeking justice for the family he lost. From the minds of the creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and based on the best-selling comic book event by Eastman, Waltz, Bishop, Delgado, and the Escorza Brothers: the official video game adaptation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin.”
And that’s pretty much your lot for now – basically a commitment to the project’s existence, with more to follow in the future.

I'm totally down for a dark take on TMNT, but seeing that Nickelodeon logo scares me.
I hope this is good, also does this mean no destroy all humans 3?
Radical radical radical
It’s all very exciting… outside of the fact that THQ Nordic pretty much make average or worse tier games for the most part. If they stick the landing, it’d probably be the first THQ game I liked in about 20 years or so.
I heard great things about the Last Ronin comic series. I enjoy all (I MEAN ALL) of the animated Turtles series, but a dark tale of the Turtles kinda similar to the original comic run sounds great, and even better as a video game.
@Ken_Kaniff After the Batman v. TMNT movie, which was vulgar and violent, and still had the Nickelodeon name stamped on it, as well as some of the newer Turtles comics with the name being a bit mature, I'm not too worried. Worse case scenario, it'll get a hard T rating.
@Americansamurai1 They may be Destroy All Humans 3 after this title releases, which hopefully isn't a hundred years from now.
Can't say I particularly trust Nickelodeon (their middling licensed game track record speaks for itself), and don't have a ton of faith in Black Forest or the reanimated corpse of THQ...but I'll keep my fingers crossed.
@Ken_Kaniff Nick has owned them since 2009, it'll be fine. The overall tone of Last Ronin is "dark", but in actual content isn't all that far removed from most other TMNT stuff.
@somnambulance THQ doesn't make, it publishes games and some are very good, like Pillars of Eternity.
The real question is, how does pizza taste in the gritty future of NYC.
@Sil_Am You know what I mean. They’re hardly a top tier publisher. They mostly push out licensed shovelware.
@HotGoomba i don't think we get tmnt until after 2025 at the earliest.
@HotGoomba I can’t recommend The Last Ronin enough, it’s such a fantastic series.
Not the studio I was expecting.........woof....
Was hoping Rocksteady, Respawn, etc would do this. Heck what's Visceral doing these days?!
The comic was amazing. If they follow that template we are in for a good time!
@Rafie Nothing because EA closed them a few years ago.
@AdamNovice Oh damn....I forgot about that. 😮💨
The comic was sad, but awesome. Hope this game lives up to it whenever it comes.
Really hope that this will be good. Can't wait to see some gameplay!
I have no confidence in the developing studio and publisher. It's going to be an average game at best.
@Rafie I know, sadly EA will be EA.
I just finished the graphic novel last night! Absolutely fantastic.
I like the art style and darker themed setting but I'd love to play all 4 of 'm.
I expect it to be an action game, just like GoW & FF16. Right up my alley!
I keep an eye on the game for sure.
Excellent comic, terrible developer and publisher. I'm hesitantly excited because of the source material (and anything to get my mind off the horrible Seth Rogen movie is welcome 🤮🤮) and how dedicated they have to be to do it right, but I don't have much faith.
Rocksteady had always been rumored to be doing a co-op 4 player, gritty Turtles adventure after the Arkham series finished, so they would have been the best bet. It's still too early to judge though.
Playing as Raphael will be great as you avenge your brothers. Cant wait for it!!
I really hope they'll deliver a great game and will not mess it up
What a pathetic trailer, shows absolutely nothing.
