While the UK's boxed games sales can't be used to indicate trends worldwide, we think it's safe to say Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is doing pretty well for itself. Publisher Bandai Namco will no doubt be pleased with its performance so far; it's landed at number one in the UK physical chart, displacing some mainstays with another solid debut from FromSoftware. Almost two thirds of the physical copies sold were for PS5. It won't be selling Elden Ring numbers, but we're sure the new game will be breaking series records pretty quickly.
After taking a dive to 24th last week, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga force leaps back into sixth place. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt also makes a return to the top 10 in ninth place. Hogwarts Legacy is also up, moving from ninth to fifth. Meanwhile, FIFA 23, which was third last week, is now in fourth, and GTA 5 moves from second to 10th.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 26th August, 2023
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- FIFA 23
- Hogwarts Legacy
- LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sage
- Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate
- Minecraft (Switch)
- The Witcher III: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition
- Grand Theft Auto V

That headline's mechin me laugh.
After taking three months and nearly 300 hours to beat Tears of the Kingdom on Switch, I finally got around to starting Final Fantasy XVI this weekend. I’m only ten hours in, but it’s absolutely incredible. What I find more incredible, however, is the fact that it’s not in the top 40 this week. I don’t quite understand why it isn’t selling more.
Do we know the platform split % for AC6?
Haters, back off! ACVI is a hit 🔥🔥🔥
I get that it's probably on sale but buying FIFA 23 when then new one is out in less than a month seems pretty pointless
@Smash41 Bearing in mind this is only for sales of boxed copies in the UK:
PS5, 64%
PC, 21%
Xbox Series, 10%
PS4, 5%
@Quintumply no sales at all for the xbone lol?
@Cherip-the-Ripper Well I think the Xbox disc copies work for Xbox One and for the Series consoles, as opposed to PS5 and PS4 still being separate.
@Cherip-the-Ripper Armored Core 6 uses smart delivery so there's only 1 physical version for Xbox containing both versions (though with smart delivery games the Series X|S version is usually a full internet download for physical releases).
@Quintumply How is there a PC physical %? Issnt this a digital only Game on PC, or a Code in a Box?
@Shepherd_Tallon ba dum tsh 😂
@MagisterMagi Could be code in a box, I don't know. Just repeating what the chart says!
I just picked it up last night. I haven't had too much time to play it yet but from the little I did play? It seems really great! Looking forward to playing it more today.
Congratulations to From for another well earned success.
Ouch. Immortals of Aveum not even hitting the top 10 with only Armored Core as competition. Called it that AC6 would top the list this week. These charts are about to get a whole lot more interesting!
@Quintumply @Grumblevolcano ah right ofcourse, that makes sense. Thanks!
@Powerplay94 Probably when also taking into consideration digital copies, the PC will get most sales, a bit above PS. From Software has huge fanbase on PC, that's why Sony needs a new BloodBorne, to atract some of those FS fans. Curious about Japan sales, but I wouldn't bet it selling more than 100K copies.
Thats the from software impact.all the dark souls game.sekiro shadows die twice.and bloodborne helps.and people have been waiting for a excellent mech game.and like tag team music.whoop there it is.haha.word up son
@The_Pixel_King 100%, it's amazing. I'd imagine a lot of people who were going to buy it all bought it week one.
Meanwhile a PS3 game is still convincing enough people to go out and physically buy it to put it in the top ten.
People typing AC, you'd think a new Assassin's Creed was out. Maybe ArCo or ACore dunno, because the Creed has already taken them initials.
@TheArt They were pumping out Armored Core’s back when Ubisoft still made decent games!
@kyleforrester87 Yes I know but let's face it Assassin's Creed has stolen those initials with the more mainstream popularity and those consistent releases the past years.
@somnambulance Not surprised. Have you seen the Steam numbers? Aveum got a staggering all-time peak of 751 players…
@TheArt to be fair, when I see AC I think Animal Crossing
@kyleforrester87 😁
Wow Mario Kart. Unbelievable. Played it all weekend with my kids.
@Relygon Launching at #21. This could be the biggest flop title of the year so far.
@somnambulance tbh I follow gaming news more than most people still, and I'd never even heard of the game until I saw your comment talking about how poorly it's doing lol.
And now, looking at it, it seems to be kind of a mess in terms of optimization on everything!
@Ralizah It’s a big budget next gen EA FPS title. You’d think it’d be bigger news than it is. I’m sure the game cost them a couple million to make and it sure doesn’t look like it’ll recoup whatever it cost to make it at this point.
@somnambulance Marketing fail for sure. The generic title doesn't help.
In fairness, 2023 has been a pretty stacked year so far in terms of acclaimed AAA releases. Not a good time not to be Hogwarts, Zelda, Baldur's Gate, Spider-Man, or Starfield.
My next ps5 games after I'm done with elden ring and ff 16 😃
@Ralizah you'd think a game covered by Digital Foundry with an over 200K views video would get decent sales. Seems not. People really don't care to play 7/10 games these days, even if sone may be very good.
Anyway, I'll buy a copy for 30€, but I buy all my games on discount, even 10/10s.
@Sil_Am Coverage was not great though. Game utilizes advanced UE5 features and in doing so image quality takes a gargantuan hit.
@Sil_Am I think you can be right but I also think sometimes people overestimated a little pc sales. For example the Elden Ring case, there are companies who said 41% of the sales were on PS while 29% on pc. For a game that has sold more than 20 million, 2 million (10%) is a lot, most PS games on Steam didn't sell 2 million copies lol.
So I'm sure fromsoft has a large fanbase on pc but as large as the gaming community on pc is there is still a difference in games designed with console as their priority. Also elden ring was a mega success so it doesn't tell the whole picture of realistic sales numbers for other games.
In the case of Baldur's Gate 3, a game companies say has reached 5 million copies early access included, their sales on pc will be larger than on ps because BG is a big pc classic (and a lot of console user just play freaking call of duty lol)
My first armored core. Really enjoying it. The more bitesized structure really fits my lifestyle right now.
Number 1 👩🦲 mech it so
Glad its doing well as its fantastic.
How is MK8 still pulling in such high numbers?
I picked this(AC6) up on sat on steam. I am truly impressed. It' plays like no other game and runs buttery smooth.
@4th_at_EVO whenever someone buys a switch, they immediately buy MK8, because that's what all their friends are playing. Simples.
I always find it very interesting how the US and UK sales charts can be vastly different. Can be a display of different genres of gaming interests.
This of course excludes the games like Mario or GTA that are always in the top ranking for years.
