When is Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 releasing? That's the question on every eager fan's lips right now. All we know for sure is that the game-changing update will launch before the Phantom Liberty expansion, which is out on the 26th September. That gives us a roughly two and a half week window to work with, and it's assumed that 2.0 will drop sooner rather than later.
Why? Well, that's because ever informative CD Projekt Red community director Marcin Momot has said we're getting more 2.0 info next week. "We should be able to share details about the 2.0 release date next week. Thank you for your patience!" Momot writes on Twitter.
Given CDPR's history of launching big ol' updates alongside blasts of fresh information, we're tempted to believe that 2.0 could be happening next week, which would give players around two weeks to get stuck into a new playthrough before Phantom Liberty. Sounds like good timing to us.
For the sake of providing the full picture, this is what update 2.0 has in store, according to CDPR:
- Redesigned skill trees and perks
- Revamped cyberware and new capacity system
- Vehicle combat and car chases
- Combat AI improvements
- New police system
- UI and UX improvements
- Loot, items, and crafting changes
- New radio stations
- And much more
Again, this is set to be a game-changing patch, altering how Cyberpunk 2077 operates on a fundamental level. At this point, the update is just about as anticipated as Phantom Liberty itself.

Cyberpunk 2078
Was hoping for much much more but guess I'll just have to settle for much more.
To much to play to jump back into this...which I was on the fence about anyway
@HotGoomba
I'd personally go with Cyberpunk 2080...
Kinda glad I never got beyond the prologue. Now I'll be able to experience the game at its best for the first time!
Why don’t they just drop the software update and let the players find out the differences by themselves? Did it need the event back then for the Witcher update? Stupid trend of „eventation“
Still haven’t played this game yet. Wondering if now is the time to jump in. Just so many great games out right now that i am not sure this is the place to take a break from SF6 and Diablo 4. Plus i need to start Starfield and many others. I am glad to see them continue to improve the game and it’s always on sale.
Wake up Samurai.
@HonestHick It‘s fun if you just ignore this whole open-world stuff and focus on the missions. And you can see almost everything interesting in your first run, lasting 20 to 30 hours, replay value is pretty low.
@Max_the_German yeah i was expecting around 30 hours. Good to know to just stick to the missions. Thanks for that tip. I might snag it at some point. It seems to improve more and more over time which is nice to see.
Gives me a reason to finally start CP so I’m happy
@HonestHick Played version 1.52 which was almost bug-free, so with the announced improvements you should have a blast. Plays more like a first-person action-adventure then an RPG, with the exception that your bullets of the same weapon make more damage on higher street-cred, which feels totally off. CP is not perfect, but it has this special something, play it!
@Michael2008ish BG3 is amazing for what it is, arguably the best in class and a goty contender. It is a CRPG, if you don't like that genre it's no fault of the game.
I recently reinstalled the game in preparation! I’ve decided to do a new play through, probably as a street kid. I’ve put off Baldur’s Gate 3 for this, Armoured Core and Spider-Man 2 so here’s hoping it’s worth it as BG looks incredible.
@Max_the_German for sure it does. I watched lots of videos on it and always thought it looked fun. I almost bought it with the 1.5 update. Here we are at 2.0, so i need to just pick it up. It’s not going to improve much more from 2.0 i wouldn’t think.
I've been seeing this on the shelf in my library for a few years now but I never picked it up b/c of all the bad news coverage originally and honestly I'm just not a big first person perspective guy. But I'm playing "Bugsnax" now, which really has no reason to be first person, while I wait for this to drop, easing myself in. 😁
Perfect timing.. my Ford plant goes on strike next Friday, so I’ll have plenty of time to get enthralled with this game.. only played the 2 hour demo for an hour last year.. my daughter almost walked in on an abnormally giant animated penis 😅 so I put it down planning to pick it back up during her school hours and never did.. I’m pumped tho!
They also stated that we are supposed to get a new apartment in Dogtown which is cool. I hope they have more customization options for all apartments in the game. It would be cool if we could repaint our vehicles and bikes in a future update.
Is there going to be a native PS5 re-release?
Yes. I'm moving to a bigger house with a dedicated cinema room. My dad cave 😄 I already bought an 85" QN90B. This is gonna be a great excuse to begin a new game as a different...type...class...whatever...
Sounds nice but I've already completed the game 5 times and moved on. Got Starfield and BG3 on my plate so there's no way I'm going back.
