Releasing next week on the 5th December alongside the Ultimate Edition of Cyberpunk 2077, Update 2.1 adds and improves a whole bunch of stuff. The full patch notes are coming next week, but for now, we've gathered all of the main points from the latest CD Projekt Red stream and made an easy-to-read bullet point list, which you can find below.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1 Features
- Adds a full NCART (Night City Area Rapid Transit) metro system to the game, allowing players to travel around Night City via public transport
- Metros can still be used as fast travel points, but actually getting on one results in a much more cinematic experience where you travel in real time, looking out of windows and engaging with NPCs
- Adds an on-person radio, or Radioport, which lets you listen to the game's existing radio stations while exploring Night City on foot or via the metro
- The Radioport will be disabled during some quests that have specific music, and during key conversations
- The Radioport's volume can be adjusted
- Improved boss fights, including a much more powerful Adam Smasher, who now uses his Sandevistan implant like in the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime
- Adds replayable car races that become available after finishing Claire's questline; you can win money and vehicle discounts
- Adds a bunch of new vehicles to buy, including an open-top Porche
- You can now throw knives and axes while riding motorcycles
- Motorcycle driving has been reworked, with leans, wheelies, and tricks
- Enemy factions will now hunt you down after completing certain gigs, engaging in more vehicular battles
- Adds a new accessibility tab in the options menu, including new settings for clearer HUD visuals, and customisation for puzzle time limits
- Adds hangouts with romantic partners
Honestly, we didn't think this much stuff would make it into update 2.1, but CDPR continues to go above and beyond when it comes to supporting its open world RPG.
Unfortunately, though, there was no mention of New Game+ during the stream, which has long been a requested feature. We don't know for sure if 2.1 will be the final big update for Cyberpunk 2077, but, outside of this latest stream at least, it's been suggested.
Will you be taking a trip back to Night City for Update 2.1? Let us know what feature you're most looking forward to in the comments section below.

So we can finally have sex with our romantic options more than once?!?
All sounds fantastic especially being able listen to the radio on foot.
Just got to the PL DLC in a new playthrough, so this is much appreciated! Can't wait to have a digital midlife crisis in that convertible Porsche!
Oh that's actually pretty cool, I was using a mod to get Judy to stay at another apartment but this will be much better.
I'd played the dlc with my existing save but now will start a brand new game
Cyberpunk 1.0 has been released! Congratulations CD Projekt Red!
This is actually pretty substantial. Sounds good to me!
Bit disappointed about no 3rd person mode or new game plus. I’m hoping the sequel will have this in.
No new game plus means no returning to night city for me. Still very sour after launch, then seeing the roadmap gutted and then the claim that new game plus is too hard? Nah, I’ll give other games my time.
Those are all very nice additions but I really wanted new game plus. My OCD can't take seeing some skill trees half and fully empty!
Wow I was not expecting them to add in the metro system but finally.
Waiting for the final patch and a big discount on Phantom Liberty before I jump back in and start from scratch. Loved this game!
@DennisReynolds Honestly funny considering it's the cyberpunk universe and people transfering money through their eyes
Nice to see CDPR is taking green initiatives by promoting use of public rail systems. 😅
Looks like a great update all around, though!
This looks great ,so much whinging though ,I wanted a garage..I hate you cdpr, I'm gonna set my disc on fire😂 it was fine on ps5, at least for me, before all the patches ,superb game.
I do wish you could travel from anywhere to a fast travel point, or even have a nominal fee attached like in Horizon Forbidden West. It's a drag to have to get to a fast travel point before you can even fast travel. But I guess the current way is more realistic. Otherwise, excited for all the new update stuff! Game is in such great shape now
I am nearing the end of a first playthrough, notwithstanding a trial run with Desert kid background.
I will probably start it all over again just to get the full experience from start to finish. I might finish it quickly second time around.
Still haven't properly played or had fun with any CDPR game yet, mostly because I'm really late to the Witcher 3 party and haven't touched Cyberpunk since the PS4 poop version. Does seem like the best ever time to finally try the PS5 version of Cyberpunk now. Still a Witcher 3 virgin as well and I don't know which one to start with in my January backlog mission, probably Witcher 3 first as its the oldest and more complete finished game, or just toss a coin
“A much more powerful Adam Smasher” oh god why! I just got to him earlier today and he annihilated me within minutes 3 times!
Did a reload and now doing gigs and getting my health/armour up. This game is awesome 25hrs in.
Actually ever since the first trailer, I've hoper we can use the subway system and actually be able to look around and out of the window. I knows it's not an addition for everyone's taste but I love that idea
Can't wait to ride the NCART whilst listening to Pacific Dreams.
Adding in the metro system and romantic hangouts means I'll definitely be replaying this in the near-future.
I'm a bit surprised people want NG+ in this game. Isn't the fun of replaying RPG's to make an entirely new character and see how making different choices and using different builds changes the experience? Still sucks it's not there for the people who wanted it. Hopefully in the next one!
@Beerheadgamer82 Toss a coin to your Witcher.. and play it first.. oh valley of plenty, ooohhhh
All I want is a third person mode as cherry on top 🥲
@NinjaNicky Hopefully this game taught everyone a lesson to not pre-order games and maybe wait for a good few patches and hopefully a discount by the time you buy games to make sure they are a more complete package.
@TrannosaurusBex yh me thinks Witcher 3 first too. Did briefly forget TLoU Part 2 remastered is middle of January too so I'll have to temporarily stop Witcher 3 for a while as I quickly platinum Part 2, I know its not everyone's favourite but I absolutely adore Part 2
Took out the metro to only add it back in 🤣
Thank God, finally larger font sizes! (Not even vaguely joking)
@RudeAnimat0r I only started playing Cyberpunk there the last week and this has been my biggest gripe, I can barely read the menus
@TrannosaurusBex yup, I have a pretty modest sized TV and the font sizes plus the UI are really not great.
I’d expect a New Game + around the same time you’re able to skip the intro. So probably never.
@SlySnake0407 I love restarting from scratch for games but I understand people want that powerfantasy and knowing that your entire build is gonna be useless when you 100% the game does kind of suck.
@NinjaNicky I waited 3 years and now really enjoying Cyberpunk for £20. For people who waited patience paid off ❤️🎄👍🏻
I was happily jumping for a second there will be music in game...
...than I remembered that Ritual Radio had advertisements every 10 seconds and it was so disturbing I rather walked on my own...
Honestly, I enjoy playing this game more than so called better games. That said, a world so centred around personal visual expression where you can't actually see yourself doesn't make sense. Also.. no white hair, they dropped the ball there. And augmentation is a big deal but you cant have fake boobs, no sense either..
@Mephisto2869 Well if it was fine for you specifically, then I really don’t understand why people were whinging.
