Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will feature the biggest map in Yakuza / Like a Dragon history. This confirmation comes directly from RGG Studio, which states that the upcoming RPG's Honolulu City map is "more than three times the size of Isezaki Ijincho". Just to be clear, that was the main Yokohama map in Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Lost Judgment. So yeah, Hawaii is huge.
Indeed, it sounds like Infinite Wealth is huge overall. Earlier this month, RGG Studio referred to the game as "monster-class", in reference to its sheer size. It's "longer than anything we’ve made so far", said studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama.
Is a game's size really a selling point these days? For some people, we doubt it will be, but we think the key takeaway here is that RGG Studio seems to have poured everything into Infinite Wealth. Hopefully the finished game meets expectations when it arrives in January.

What I always liked about the LAD games was how the map size for Kamurocho was perfect for everything you need in the game. I found Isezaki Ijincho pushing it when it came to size so I'm not particularly happy to hear the new one is even bigger. That doesn't mean it won't work, I haven't played the new game yet but when I'm told something is bigger it doesn't mean it's better.
i hope the rumor of kaoru sayama returning is true since kiwami 2 is my favorite
ill buy it even though i skipped yakuza 7 lol
Like A Dragon: Infinite Map
Certainly sounds ambitious that's for sure. Yokohama was already pretty big so this is going to be absolutely massive in terms of scale.
Size of the game isn't necessarily a selling point for me but I do appreciate knowing what I'm getting myself into. Now I know I need to clear out some time to devote to Infinite Wealth compared to other games coming out around that time.
Looking forward to it!
I'm glad they're going to a new location. I do wish they'd revisit some locations from Yakuza 5 and Ryukyu from 3.
Getting Yakuza 5 vibes from this. An all-in, everything and the kitchen sink, swing for the fences approach. Good luck to the RGG team, got a lot to prove without Nagoshi IMO.
Usually huge games put me off, but when it is one of the greatest franchises of all time, it’s only a good thing.
Size DOES matter. Give me a game with huge maps and 250h of (great) gameplay, a fantastic story and characters and I’ll say that this game is worthy every penny. Unfortunately, not all games can be The Witcher 3… but I think all developers should strive to make games as perfect as that one. Bigger and especially longer games are always the best ones. Nothing more irritating than gaming sites trying to convince people that “short is good”. No, it isn’t. There are some insanely good games which are really short, but these are usually indie gems sold at reasonable prices. If I buy an expensive AAA game, I expect some 30 to 50h for the main story (much more if we’re talking about RPGs…), lots of side content and at least one big piece of DLC adding some 20h or more to the total.
There have always been areas in LaD games that have seemed like there is nothing going on in them. The area has neither a restaurant, mini-game, or patrolling thugs to beat up. These areas do however add to the vibe of it being a real place.
My guess is that they need the map to be bigger in order to make the food delivery minigame better or some sort of Segway racing.
After the masterpiece that is LaD:G:TMWEHN (lol) I fully trust in what RGG is giving us with Infinite Wealth.
I'm not thrilled by this news. I'm not necessarily worried either. I think they're still delivering with each game so we've got enough good stuff in the bank between us for me to trust this is fine. But making the map huge isn't something that gets me excited about a new Yakuza game.
I'm excited. I know a lot of the water in Hawaii will make up a good portion of the map size but I'm still hyped.
@PlayStationGamer3919 don't buy it then since he is the voice actor for Kiryu
With Yakuza maps, I want every single street to have something; I want to trip over restaurants, minigame spots, substories, collectibles, anything that has meaning and offers interactivity. It's one of the things that endeared me to the series, coming off needlessly large and soulless sandboxes pioneered by Ubisoft. Even San Andreas, for how great a game it is, suffered from it - there is very little point to most of San Fierro, for example.
Bigger really isn't always better, it shouldn't be a selling point. Yokohama was already stretched way too thin, but I'll opt to trust RGG Studio once more on the back of all the amazing games they've given us previously.
Im already set on buying this game.
If it has as much content (or even more) as Lost Judgment then I'm definitely sold? Also it'd be interesting to see what classic SEGA game there are to play.
@Scouse_Pirlo
Beating up high schoolers in Lost Judgement was some of the best content this series has ever had...lol...
The entire "school stories" portion of the game was so incredible with the variety of games and content that it felt like an entire second game. Robotics club turned out to be my favorite but only after I figured out what the heck to do. The Dance Club was really fun and gossipy, as well as the boy version of the Dance Club...Boxing Club.
If I'm going to pay $70, I definitely want it to be longer than a <20hr game.
Let's be honest they're never overly massive. You can probably run from one side of the map to the other in a minute or two. I welcome this if there's enough stuff to do. I'm fully preparing myself for a 200 hour platinum 😂
RGG knows to keep their maps dense instead of big for the sake of it so if they can find a healthy balance, Im all in
Platinumed Gaiden and looking forward to Infinite Wealth.
I'm excited for some more turn based goodness. Like a Dragon is one of my favourite games of all time.
