Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is back! Okay, not everyone will be cheering for the return of this maligned live service project, but with the game set to release in just two and a half months — on the 2nd February — Warner Bros. and marketing partner PlayStation have no choice but to try and kick the hype machine into gear.
And so here we are, with a 19-minute dive into the co-op-focused action title. There's a lot of new PS5 footage on show here, alongside developer commentary covering both the game's main story and its core gameplay mechanics.

For the record, we don't think Suicide Squad looks bad — it just comes off as a bit... uninspired right now. Although having said that, the traversal does look like a lot of fun. We'll obviously be learning much more about the title in the coming weeks, so here's hoping that it all starts clicking before its launch next year.

This looks like it’ll be on Gamepass in June
I’m Afraid that the damage was done at the first reveal. I really tried to give it a chance this time too, but it just looks exactly the same. I saw the mention of a Battle Pass in the special edition of the game, so I am sad to say that I won’t be hearing Kevin Conroys final rendition of Batman. He deserved way more than this for his final act.
The gameplay looks extremely boring and an empty city after the Spider-Man games is unacceptable... which is a shame as I'd loved a good single-player game from Rocksteady with this story!
Also, is it me or are the colors a bit washed out, like some bad HDR or something?
They'd have to rehaul most of the game to make it anywhere near good but I can only hope this kicks off a wave of companies realising this isn't what the average consumer wants
I enjoyed playing co-op Gotham Knights with my brother and that has a bad rap. I see all the negativity surrounding this game too, but I think it looks rather enjoyable.
Doesn't seems anywhere near as bad as people are making it out to be.
Granted, we'll know for sure once it's released.
It honestly seems like it'll be a fun romp with some friends for $20-30 or so.
It's always online and liveservice wasn't it? So the day the servers go offline it's useless? Just like with a Ubisoft game wait a month or 6 and you get all the stuff with a massive discount.
I still can't get past Captain Boomerang and King Shark maining guns. The laziness.
@MFTWrecks I can see that but not at a €70 with a seasonpass and full with MT. Just like with every Ubisoft game wait and get the full game for less then half the price.
Still trying hard to polish a turd huh.
GOTY 2024 contender as early as February? What a way to start the new year
I've been watching all 4 seasons of Harley Quinn on Max the past 2 weeks, nearly done, so this all looks and sounds wrong to me right now. Maybe if I watch Peacemanker when I'm done this will look better, but I really don't want to.
Kind of reminds me of GotG which was good so maybe if I can borrow it from the library for the single player some day I will. Or if it goes free to play if it's digital only. 🤷♂️
I hope it bombs so I can play it cheap for the story only. WB doesn't deserve anything else at this point.
The era of superhero movies is seemingly on its deathbed lately and I hope the same happens to the games.
Sorry if that offends someone, but that is my honest opinion in the comments section below.
It looks very polished and will probably be lots of fun if you're into live service mp games, unfortunately I don't play those games so there's nothing for me here despite being a Rocksteady fan
This looks as terrible as ever. Reduced down to calling the environment a battleground where you grapple, fly, and power slide around an empty city and its rooftops shooting stat driven assault rifles at garbage. This literally looks like a battle royal game map with a DC skin and phoned in story.
What a tragic example of greed. Can't wait to see more of this garbage from Sony's once talented studios as well....lmfao
No thanks! I'm buying FFVII Rebirth instead.
Live service, always online, battle-pass...3 terms in one game that are all negative to me. Pass. IF they enable an offline single player with couch co-op...maybe. The gameplay still looks bland and boring.
@Perturbator Hopefully that happens soon 🤞 Marvel is drowning film, shows and games with their properties! I personally prefer everything in moderation, I wouldn't want to eat chocolate sundaes everyday maybe
Looks good to me. I trust Rocksteady to make a good game.
I’m sure it’ll be fine, a solid 5 or 6/10. But they’re a quality studio and they’ve put so much time into this, I just hope it doesn’t sink them and they come back swinging with a solid hit after
I think it looks alright, but largely not a game type or property I'm interested in. Can't see myself playing this unless it gets great reviews and it's either $15 or free in 2 years.
For context I didn't even like Arkham City since I was bummed Rocksteady went open world. Asylum was an almost perfect game to me with no modern bloat.
No matter how good it might appear to be, launching in the same month as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth? Big ooph... JL is now D.O.A. for me sadly.
@somnambulance probably Game Pass day one just to make sure they recoup losses right away
I just don't see how anyone thought it was acceptable to make a game with a playable giant shark man and make him shoot guns as his main mode of attack. He doesn't do it anywhere else in the comics, the movies, etc. But in the medium where there are tons of games where you shoot guns, but very little where you're a giant muscular shark, they give him a gun. Brilliant.
If you're making a superhero game, be more creative. This looks more heavily inspired by Fortnite than DC
@somnambulance I think Sony has the marketing for this game given the State of Play in February so probably PS+ Extra/Premium getting this game rather than Game Pass.
Hard pass on this live service junk. Story had me hooked. Then they showed the gameplay and the bottom fell out on my interest.
The only way I would play this game is if it’s free.
This really gave me vibes of a more vertical Agents of Mayhem.
I’m not interested.
After MK1, and WB’s messaging, WB games are bargain bin games going forward.
I will not be playing this game regardless.
yaaaaaaaawn ah dang it I fell asleep, gotta restart the video.
@KundaliniRising333 Sony didn’t work on this game
Definitely looks better than expected but still a pass. If history has showed us anything this game is gonna come in hot and probably be extremely buggy and broken for the first year or so. Hopefully it comes to Plus in the future
@Perturbator Nah. I hope superhero game continues. I haven’t been this happy since I was 8. I’ll will be getting this next year as a birthday gift to myself. Bring on more superhero games!!!! 🥳
I think it looks ok but I’m not super hyped for it. Maybe it will surprise me?
This will be a hard game to defend after the servers are inevitably shuttered and the entire game becomes lost media.
I actually think it presented a bit better here...although the live service elements were noticeably never touched on throughout the whole presentation.
The story does actually look really good but unfortunately the wrapping around it just looks so...bland. It also doesn't help that it's releasing in February and I'm all booked up in February with the onslaught of RPGs coming out by then so I'm afraid I'll have to pass on this.
@JokerBoy422 @Grumblevolcano I dunno. I feel like it’s possible Sony is aware they made a misguided choice in supporting this one and won’t want to pay the millions to get it on their service right away… since they already paid to market it. Xbox, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to care. This one smells like Exoprimal, in that it looks to be unexceptional but fair enough title that doesn't realize it’s more of a niche game than the studio thought it would be. I can see it getting 6/10s and then people saying it’s better than critics said it was… after it’s part of a sub instead of being a $70 title. Value is relative in those regards.
I am excited for this. Seem a great co-op title. Traversal is great smooth and swift. Wish combat included more melee though. The story would be good knowing Rocksteady.
@AverageGamer Fair enough mate, let it be known that I respect your difference of opinion in these trying circumstances!
@Brydontk I haven't played Fortnite, but isn't that what happens with all characters in Fortnite? Goku shooting guns? Naruto shooting guns,.etc? It looks ridiculous to me, so I haven't played it, but people seem to love it (and crossovers).
So sad that Kevin Conroy's last performance as Batman will be buried in this atrocity.
looks the same. i don't think they took criticisms to heart. not sure why they delayed it in that case.
> 'unique gameplay experience'
> shoot the big purple orbs
SS: KtJL will be dead ASAP after it releases next year.
Honestly, if it wasn't for Kevin Conroy's last performance as Batman being in here and all, I wouldn't bother waiting for this game and its full story (which doesn't really impress me as its practically just another "Evil Superman & Justice League" + "Suicide Squad fights alien invasion").
Dissapointed. But hey, there are so many other interesting games to play instead of this uninterested piece of trash.
Hm what happened to reserving judgement and not judging a book by its cover? 😋😋
Everyone seems to be sh*tting on Suicide Squad without ever having played it... the new deep dive video log from Rocksteady talks about taking a different approach from the Arkham games because of the subject matter and the multiplayer aspect, while still being story-focused and quality driven, which is what Rocksteady does. I think the problem with this is that it's Rocksteady but it's NOT an Arkham game, and when you throw in the Live Service/Shooter elements, that just makes people see red. If it were a Ubisoft game I doubt the outcry would be nearly as bad.
In any case I'm gonna give Suicide Squad the benefit of the doubt and I think I'll have a blast playing it with my friends, it looks FUN and that's what games are supposed to be 🫡
Co-op gameplay is always my jam, it's got Best Girl Harley in it, and I enjoy shooting the crap out of stuff whether it's Red Dead, GTA, Cuberpunk, Zombie Army, Outriders, Aliens: Fireteam Elite etc etc! Rocksteady did also showcase the melee combat in their video log by the way.
In any case I have faith in the story, gameplay and potential for fun DC Easter Eggs/References, so it's a day one purchase for me... BECAUSE it's Rocksteady... and of course we get Harley's classic costume!! 😃
At the end of the day It may not turn out to be the AAA "Classic Rocksteady" experience people are looking for, but like the Suicide Squad, I think it'll be a bit of an antihero game that will surprise the naysayers and gain word of mouth traction once people get hold of it... a bit like Dragon's Dogma.
Give Squad a chance!✌️😇
@naruball So in Fortnite, theres no story campaign. 100 players are dropped onto an island and you try to be the last one standing. In Fortnite, Goku and Naruto are just skins to differentiate you from other players . The game isn't centered around Naruto's story or Goku's story. I'd be venting about the same thing if there was a DragonBall Z game where Frieza comes to Earth and Goku goes, "I'll stop you Frieza! With THIS!" and whips out an uzi.
What I mean by Suicide Squad looking like a Fortnite clone is the movement of the characters during traversal, the live action service, and the running and gunning. When the characters dive off the buildings in the gameplay trailer, it looks reminiscent to when you dive from the Battle Bus in Fortnite or just when you're jumping around in general. My general point is, they're chasing the live service dragon and it's annoying.
@Brydontk oh, I see! Yeah, that actually makes a difference. But I still find Fortnite skins ridiculous. At first I thought you could fight like Goku or Naruto to an extent and almost downloaded it. As soon as I saw them holding guns, I had to look away.
@naruball Oh I totally agree 😂 And Fortnite is very fun but it has an addictive feedback loop. So couple that with the fact that a ton of kids play it because it's free, and they're the main ones buying up those skins. I've had several kids I know via friends or relatives who have proudly shown me their massive collection of Fortnite skins, backpacks, gliders, etc
I heard it was peach beach splash, where everyone uses guns including Harley Quinn, who is more famous for melee weapons..
Has it changed for the better?
