Twitter Integration to Be Removed from PS5, PS4 Next Week

Elon Musk is behind this?

So ‘direct’ posting is being removed, but what if I upload clips or pics that are saved in my camera roll, and tag them PS5, PSShare, PlayStation, etc.? Am I looking at getting banned (despite the idiot billionaire blathering about “freedom of speech” being so important (except where he personally doesn’t agree with it…)?

• doesn’t matter , still one less of the very few (if any) features playstation has left. Why do they keep taking things away to the point of PS5 being identical to a PS1/2 in terms of just playing a game then turning it off . are they trying to make psn a safe space for kids only or what ….

@Fizza Absolutely agree about the whole X nonsense! Ever in its own settings it still refers to itself as “Twitter”. Absolutely insane power flex of a rebrand.

Almost 70% of people never posted anything so no big deal. PS5 is for playing games and if you wanna use X, pick up your smartphone

Never had a twitter account to begin with. Circling the bowl how have I never heard those words before😂, be using those words soon for something else when appropriate

I don’t use Twitter. What’s the reasoning behind this? Are they taking a stand against Elon Musk or is it something else?

Not having a twitter account is the best thing ever.

@nomither6 Interesting point now you mention it. Does seem like the more powerful PlayStation becomes, the less it actually does. Can’t wait for PS6 with its lack of Blu Ray compatibility (already gone from PS5 digital of course).

@Luigia Except PSShare is for, you know, sharing…? There’s quite a few people on Twitter post game clips and pics. They’ve not all voted on here though obviously. Widen your view my friend.

@ItsBritneyB_tch Elon Musk raised the cost of the Twitter API substantially this year. MS has already removed it. Playstation just took longer.

I used it to upload screenshots but once they started appearing on the PS App i stopped using Twitter for it.

Does seem like a strange move as I constantly see #PS5Share when new games drop.

I guess Sony have the data to suggest its not a huge deal.

I actually used it a lot. Now that you can save your captures with the PS app it's fine.

Twitter is dead anyway. I plan on deleting my account soon.

The PS App made it redundant. Twitter’s a mess anyway, little baby Musk is such a ‘visionary’ that he makes everything he touches turn to sh*t.

It would be fantastic if I could play my Playstation without seeing a single social media logo.

Shame they don't replace it with Insta integration or something. I did use it every now and then because it was easy but also not surprised given how Twitter has gone to pot.

Circling it? Not really, Twitter/X is much better than it was before. Elon has improved it a lot.

My guess would be not enough people used it to justify paying the increased API costs. I'd actually forgot it was even there as an option so it's no big loss to me but I'm sure there will be some out there that won't be happy.

Coincidentally, the only time I've ever used twitter was in early 2021 to get notifications about possible PS5 availability when they were so tough to find. Went to pick one up 2 weeks later 🙂

I don't use Twitter and would never want to, but I would still like to see Sony provide an explanation or reason for decisions like this. All too often, we simply don't have a clue why they're changing things, there's just no transparency.

@BeerIsAwesome There was a tweet a while back talking about how they didn’t know anything about rocket science or electric cars so just assumed he knew what he was talking about. It was only when he started mouthing off about software engineering and it was all obvious BS that they realised that he was just a money man who gives off the air of someone who has a single functioning brain cell.

@Ainu20 you are asking transparency to a billion company? Did Nintendo say why they launched a new update for 3ds (that kills most hacks) right before shutting down the eshop? Companies do things and it's up to you if you buy or not.

Given that twitter owner wants to charge for use to regular people i wouldn't be surprised if he wants a stupid amount from sony and they don't want to pay.

But we are here so: "Oh No SoNy DoEsN't cArE " about something i don't use lol.

Ive shared some glitches on the odd occasion but i can download those vids on the ps app and share with my friends if its that good lol

@Andywax and you still can share, the ps app or downloading to your computer are still there. Not working directly with a company means the terms of use changed. Como on dude "Widen your view" lol

That's a shame, I'm apart of a trophy community on twitter and we all share direct from PlayStation to x our recent platinum's and milestones.

X(twitter) is getting worse anyway, its becoming very hateful and full of propaganda every minute

@BeerIsAwesome People who start out rich with rich parents is easy mode anyway. All that apartheid emerald mine money means you can fail 90 times and just need one success.

I actually use it quite a lot to post my Fortnite wins. Oh well.

Sony shutting off posting to Twitter while trying to launch 10 GaaS games is an interesting move.

Never used it anyway. Well, i did actually since you could find the Google browser through it as well with a bit of efficiency.. Not that it's a huge deal if it isn't available anymore, maybe i can do another workaround..

I'd argue that no one in their right mind has been on Twitter in the first place.

I'll be honest, I actually enjoyed sharing the plat trophies or a few screenshots during my run of whatever big story game I'm on, but yeah, I get it after Lon surged the API cost.
The platform has gone down pretty heavily, it's basically a crappy live service game with a bunch of people trying to bait engagement for ad $$$ now.

Bummer. I was using Twitter to upload screenshots so I can use them on my PC. Now the only way to achieve this will be to use a USB disk. Thanks Sony!

I didn't even know PS5 had Twitter integration...

I always used a usb to transfer my files to my computer then upload anyway🤷🏽‍♂️. So this isn't big deal for me personally.

That's a bummer. I've been using that feat constantly. It's very convenient. I'll be missing it for sure.

No one actually believes that. It was a toxic cesspool before and now it is even worse in that regard and much worse off financially than ever (estimates put it at worth $20B).

You can still post meme worth screenshots by just taking a shot with your controller and then uploading it from your PS App on the phone. I don’t see this being much of an issue.

I never share anything on my console online, twitter (and other social media app) is a time waster. For me it's good only for following some retro gaming company account like evercade and analogue inc.

I love how people think Twitter is dying. This is purely an API issue nothing to do with Elon. X is alive and well.

Weird move considering how X wants to get into more streaming. Partnering with the biggest home console install base would have been a great idea.

Twitter/X is odd, seems to be the social media choice of celebrities/journalists, but I rarely meet anyone in my life who talks about using it.
I don't even know what age range is attracted to it.
