Teardown, which launched straight onto PS Plus Extra in November, is a great game with satisfying destruction and engaging, heist-like missions. Unfortunately, if you're the type of player who likes to inver the Y-axis for camera control, the game somehow released without this option. Now, a few weeks after its arrival, the game at last has the option included.
It didn't take very long for players to take to social media when the lack of Y-axis inversion was discovered. After all, it's something found in practically every game with camera/character movement of some sort. While it's a shame Teardown launched without the setting, the latest game update adds it into the Options menu, meaning you can now push the right stick down to look up and vice versa.
Are you an inverted Y-axis player? Did the lack of this option put you off Teardown? Tell us in the comments section below.

You dont see voxel action often, the physics are quite impressive. imagine with more cpu/gpu power, allowing even tinier voxel blocks.
i just wish the gameplay wasnt that much aimed at time limit missions. Sometime they are way too limited to my taste.
@Papa_Godzilla You can double the time limit in settings eh
If you imagine the stick is your head the invert Y option is the most natural and realistic. Why on earth would you lean your head BACK to look at the ground in front of you?
It mimics the axis motion similar to the way a flight stick or yoke mimics the pitch and yaw of a plane.
@darthvirgin yeah, you can add a minute or so. still felt like it was not enough for me to have fun. its purely my own taste, im sure its not a problem for most people.
Finally, been waiting for this to be added, disappointing it wasn't picked up in your review initially
@darthvirgin holy *****, really?? I pretty much gave up on this after getting stuck 😀 cheers for the info bud
@sloppysmusic I tried to explain this to the Mrs, she just looked at me as if I was mental 😂
Finally, I couldn't believe it dropped without it. Disappointing it took this long for them to patch in a common option but I've been waiting months to play it so a few more weeks wasn't that bad. Although having it installed just staring at me knowing I couldn't play it was rough.
@Pranwell I'm glad it wasn't just me! I really enjoyed what I played but I can't last longer than an hour without feeling like I'm gonna be sick it sucks!
@Papa_Godzilla
Agreed, I thought this game would focus more on the destruction aspect but it wound up being more of a time trial game with destruction included.
Been waiting for this update. It's insane to me it was not included at launch. I guarantee you this significantly diminished the numbers that gave it a go.
I am still looking forward to trying it however it's now lost it's spot in line to more bg3.
@sloppysmusic Yeah, it makes perfect logical sense. I don't play inverted (I'm just so used to the "regular" way) but totally understand why people do.
I’m an invert Y player and have had to hold off playing Teardown until they added it. Shame it wasn’t there at launch, but at least I can play it now.
@sloppysmusic Exactly. I think the whole issue is with people thinking that the analog sticks go "up and down." Even this article says, "You can now push the right stick down to look up..." The sticks only go "up and down" in a 2D game. In a 3D game, it's not "up and down," it's "forward and back." If you're playing a 3D game, the left stick doesn't make the character go up, it makes them go forward. So why shouldn't the right stick do the same? Like you said, nobody leans back to look at the ground.
INVERT FOR LIFE. Pilot controls.
I wasn’t aware it was missing this setting and thankfully I hadn’t bought it yet. If I bought this and found out it was missing the invert control setting I’d have stopped playing immediately.
I spent several weeks planning to try the game myself. Somehow it being a PS5 exclusive had gone over my head initially.😅
I absolutely can not play a game if Y can't be inverted. For me the right stick needs to move like my head. Pull back to look up, forward to look downs. The X axis also needs to be move the stick right to look right, left to look left.
That a game was released in 2023 that is without axis options is beyond incredible. Settings and options should be included in game info and reviews.
