While it seems the UK's physical games top 10 is pretty much nailed down through the rest of 2023, one late arrival has added a last minute splash of colour to the picture. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora launched last week, and it's managed to secure a spot within the list of bestsellers at number five. The four games above it would be tough to beat, especially given the time of year.
Leading the charge once again is EA Sports FC 24, which has been on a number one streak the last few weeks. Meanwhile, Hogwarts Legacy and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are in third and fourth respectively. Moving further down, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has shifted down from sixth to seventh, and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is on the up from 12th to 10th.
Here's the latest top 10 in full (physical sales only).
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 9th December, 2023
- EA Sports FC 24
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
- Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Marvel's Spider-Man 2
- Nintendo Switch Sports
- Minecraft (Switch)
- LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

I've been really enjoying Avatar, it does nothing new but the world is stunning and it captures the feel of the films really well.
Where is GTA V lol
That's pretty poor for a new ubisoft game of a big popular IP.
@misak192 13th!
Avatar has some tough competition
Remember this is boxed only. Near Xmas too.
And savvy gamers now know to wait with Ubisoft games. Plus you can sub to Ubisoft+ for a month to play it.
I doubt that’s where they wanted it to launch.
Also, it does seem like MW3 is selling less than it did last year by not really ruling the charts this year. Not sure if this is backed up in the sales numbers or not, but it does seem that way
Is the source gameindustry.biz?
Edit: I've answered my own question, yes it is. They also have an article about PS5 sales being up 217% over last year while Xbox sales remained flat. That's nuts (but also totally makes sense)!
@UltimateOtaku91 I think it being first person is an issue. I don’t mind first person games but I know a lot of people who won’t even try a game if it’s first person.
Anyone else feeling like me: the UI is too convoluted and open world wise no proper guide markers to take u to the next objective. Ended up replaying Cyberpunks PS5 version and dlc
3rd in paid games on UK Digital, so not as bad. I know its Fifa and CoD, but normally big new games with big IPs still at least debut at 1 digitally for one week though. Ubisoft paints themselves into a corner with it's big price drops, I suppose.
Interesting on the digital PS store FF16 is finally back up to 5, and BG3 is back in the top 10 again.
Mario Kart 8 deluxe doing for the Switch what GTAV did for the other consoles 😂
It beat Mario kart that's say something
@somnambulance in the uk MW3 is about 35% down on sales according to the link I clicked over on PX about the series sales increase.
Maybe some are waiting for it to hit GP?
@PsBoxSwitchOwner Could be, but that’s a huge decline when PS is the primary platform for the game. I think it’s poor critical and social response actually made the difference this time. Hopefully Microsoft improves the series, honestly.
@somnambulance think I’ve said it previously that MS need to give it a year off. To look into it all fully.
It won’t happen obviously but it needs it.
