The Grandia HD Collection, which released for Nintendo Switch all the way back in 2019, is finally making the trip to PlayStation — or PS4, more specifically. The package includes remasters of both the original Grandia and Grandia 2 — two classic, turn-based Japanese RPGs that graced the PS1 and PS2, respectively.
It may have taken almost five years to hear about this PlayStation port, but you won't have to wait much longer to get your hands on the collection. It's out later this month, on the 26th March, and it's getting a physical edition via Limited Run Games.
We should probably mention, however, that these remasters shipped with various technical issues on Switch — although the PC versions apparently run a lot better. Here's hoping that any issues have been ironed out for the imminent PS4 release.

I wonder why it took so long to get to Playstation seeing as it started on Playstation. Was this title timed?!
About time. Now i will pick up
@Rafie I believe GungHo said it was because or Sony's stringent rules of 4k options on PS4 at the time. I dunno what's changed other than maybe it will now display at 4k.
Year of the JRPG continues.
Geez the amount of times I considered just emulating these thinking they were never gonna be ported. Looking forward to it too bad March is already so stacked
Nice. I was planning to play through Grandia at some point, so I'll grab this, as the version available on PlayStation 5 already doesn't have trophies.
Glad I didn’t get the HD collection for the switch or the ps one classic version of the first one.
I thought that the Dreamcast of the second one is considered as the better version though?
Disappointed physical is by LRG so I guess it’s digital for me
time to add another title to my wish list...
Great. I presume it’ll have trophy challenges too, unlike the emulated version n PS Premium.
I thought there was Grandia 3, no?
Never finished Grandia on ps1, know I will have a chance.
Was the physical version for Switch released only by Limited Run Games? If so, what are the chances that this gets released physically "in a normal way"?
@Czar_Khastik yeah switch was limited run only. I doubt it'll get another physical. It'll very likely hold its value if you get one though. Assuming you don't mind waiting a year for it to turn up 🙄
by most accounts, this remaster is not very good. the blurry pixel upscaling does not help. probably better off playing grandia through a ps3 via ps classics release or on a vita if given the choice. one of the essential golden age ps1 games that i still need to play from beginning to end.
Having played the Switch version to completion recently, Grandia 2 is almost entirely bug free. Bugs only really impact Grandia 1, but it's still more than playable. I do wish Grandia 3 could have been included though, a shame.
@Balosi I would even wait it out (although 1 year is of waiting is ridiculous) but one of the main issues is the shipping and customs fee since they send their games from America and I'm in Europe
Since it’s digital does that mean we can purchase them separately? Really don’t feel the need to replay 1 again but I would buy2, still one of my favorite battle systems in a turn based menu driven JRPG. OK I guess that’s kind of specific.😂
@Blacksmith1985 there is bur it's not well liked so it didn't get a remaster
@Bigumamiflavor Thank you for the info. Much appreciative.
Sucks that the physical is by Limited Run, but it's nice to see that many formerly Nintendo exclusives are gettin PlayStation releases all of a sudden, like Monster Hunter Stories, Grandia, SMT 5. Only Square Enix is stubborn and keeps 2 new Dragon Quest games, Harvestella and Triangle Strategy locked there.
Took them long enough.
You're probably better off with the PS classics version of Grandia, the "HD" version is based upon it anyway rather than the better looking Saturn version and the smoothing of the artwork is hideous
@Balosi Yeah it is getting ridiculous. I was looking through my orders and i saw they had a order from me open from 2022 which i totally forgot... After contacting them they send did send it over but man its insane.
@Sil_Am How abouf the FF classic collection i dont understand why they wont release a batch for PS4 or PS5.... 😢
Oooh 😨 Grandia II is pure bliss and it is also the prototype for FFX (no, seriously Mareg and Kimihari can’t be coincidences) I would love an excuse to replay it and trophies might just be it
I am starting to think there were switch exclusivity contracts that ran out recently with several switch exclusives making their way to ps4. 😅
Now i'm regretting getting them on the switch.
Anyways, will depend on improvements whether i get this one.
The issues were technical issues in no way due to the switch but the quality of the porting.
Also, i could already spot that the ps1 version of grandia is still the one being used.
Anyways can't help but be gappy a new grandia product is coming out. I still want a remaster of 3 and a new entry.
@Czar_Khastik the Switch version got an Asian physical release, which plays in English and may even have English box art too (other Asian releases tend to). No idea if the same will be true for this version.
And it’s not quite a ‘normal’ physical release, but I find getting Asian releases of games in Europe infinitely easier and better than Limited Run Games (playasia or bazaar-bazaar for example).
@Flaming_Kaiser don't even get me started on ff pixel remaster. I swear square must've only made like 100 copies for PS4. I know it's hard to judge how many games are going to sell and sometimes under estimate, but the demand is/was clearly there in that case.
About damn time.
@GravyThief I was after this actually. English asian version is a normal release compared to LRG. That is how I how got Like a dragon: Gaiden (from bazaar-bazaar). Thank you for the information, I will definitely be on the lookout for the asian release
@Flaming_Kaiser what do you mean?
You have the pixel remasters which are remastered/remade versions of FF1-6 (which they do sell as a collection or the individual titles if you prefer that)
Then you have a port of Final Fantasy 7.
Then you have remastered versions of 8, 9, 10, 10-2 and 12.
That's pretty much all the classic titles on PS4 and PS5
Or you wan't them all in a single collection?
@DaniPooo they are talking about a physical version of the pixel remaster collection I think. The one run was so limited that it sold out in seconds. Copies rarely even appear on eBay, suggesting that the number printed was ridiculously low.
@Balosi it does exist, google "Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster Collector’s Edition PS4", expensive though
I thought Grandia has been already available on PS5...
@skaarj217 yeah the ps1 original via ps+ premium. This is the remastered version. Not that I'd imagine a huge difference between them. Grandia 2 is new to PS4/5 though.
@DaniPooo I cant seem to get the Pixel remaster nowhere FF1-6 no idea why Square-Enix doesn't want to release that on Playstation as a physical package.
@DaniPooo A normal release not where they sell 5 copies maybe less NFT nonsense and more things that are useful.
@Balosi Im not going to pah €400 or more on Ebay for this. There is quite a demand for them looking at the prices if they are to poor do LRG release i would gladly pay.
@Flaming_Kaiser still, they did a limited physical collection of these games in a couple of different flavours.
But it was a limited offer, now these games are very expensive as it's no longer being sold by Square Enix.
But I get it, you want a bargain collection. Sorry, only digital is your friend in that case.
@DaniPooo Dropping without any announcement on your own store with practically no stock is the same as a non physical release. And two versions with one overly expensive is also not really a good thing and a bargain you mean a normal price. And €400 for a game on Ebay is no bargain also the option of not getting it is just as plausible.
@Balosi Yeah it's ridiculous and the worst was thaf didnt do a devenr announcement that it was released.
@Flaming_Kaiser I don't know why you think that Limited Run Games releases are different.
@DaniPooo Its in the name and mostly small publishers, a decent time to preorder not a shadoe drop release thar sells out in a really short time and fully patched gsames as a extra.
