Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake Reportedly 'Completely Redone', Still a Ways Off 1

Video game outlet Insider Gaming has managed to get its hands on some in-development footage of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake.

The project was initially announced in 2020, but was met with heavy criticism thanks mostly to the direction of its visuals. The backlash was so strong that Ubisoft decided to go back to the drawing board and give the game to a more experienced studio. We've barely heard a peep about the remake in the years since, save for a small official update promising development is still progressing.

Now, anonymous sources have provided Insider Gaming with footage of the game in its current state and comments on its trajectory. Apparently, the game appears to have been "completely redone", adopting a more "realistic approach" as it essentially started again from scratch. "Everything has been built from the ground up, which includes a complete graphical overhaul, new animations and mechanics for combat and parkour, and much more," writes Tom Henderson, adding it's also been rewritten and motion capture re-recorded. The footage reportedly shows the game is "somewhat still in an early stage".

Additionally, it's noted that Yuri Lowenthal won't be reprising his role as the prince after all.

Insider Gaming's sources suggested an official update on the Sands of Time remake could be coming soon, but no further detail on that was provided.

So, it sounds like it'll be very different whenever it does reappear. Fingers crossed it isn't too far away, and that fans will be happy with what they see when it's re-unveiled. Are you holding out hope for the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake? Tell us in the comments section below.
