Star Wars Outlaws has been in the headlines recently for some less-than-ideal reasons. Still, one thing we are genuinely looking forward to is the inclusion of Sabacc, the blackjack/poker hybrid popular among rogues like Han Solo and Lando Calrissian. Strangely, despite the rules being first revealed in 1989, its inclusion will mark the first time Sabacc has ever graced a video game.
Spotted by GamesRadar, this reveal comes from the game's ESRB summary description, which warns of things like "futuristic gunfire, explosions, and cries of pain." More interesting, by far, is the following line: "During the course of the game, players can wager in-game currency on Sabacc, a blackjack-like card game with detailed rules."
We'd be willing to wager a starship or two on a few rounds of Sabacc, and hopefully, the option for some underhanded hijinx will exist. Pulled from the wonderful Wookiepedia, the goal of Sabacc is to collect: "A hand with an absolute value closest to 23, but no higher. A typical Sabacc deck comprised 76 cards (60 distributed in four suits plus 16 special cards), all with a specific value. However, some variants used different decks, and furthermore, in many versions of the game, the value and suit of a card could change at random during play unless the card was placed in the interference field."
What do you think of the inclusion of Sabacc in Star Wars Outlaws? Does it entice? Lay down a Full Sabacc in the comments section below.

In-game currency?
That’ll be £50.99 for 5 tokens my friend.
KOTOR had a similar card game called pazaak, hopefully this game would be better and have side quests tied to it like gwent from Wild Hunt.
@Shadcai I was wondering what that was called again in kotor. I remember also enjoying pazaak, but it's no Gwent. I always seem to get hung up on card mini games in RPGs 😅
Typo in the article: you misspelled Triple Triad
@Czar_Khastik you mean Tetra Master?
Game of Sabacc?
**Rodian bartender nods**
Swear to god, if Ubisoft makes an actually finished game, that doesn't play like it's all made from cardboard, where NPC's are smarter than Patrick Star, where they don't repeat the same dumb line 100 times, where exploration is actually fun, where combat isn't sponge BS, where the dialogue isn't written by a 15yo crack addict...
I will eat my socks
Though I gotta say it looks pretty decent
@itsfoz Can see it now...they'll be called :Ubi Bucks"!! *NB Ubi bucks can't be used in any other Ubisoft game. Ubi Bucks won cannot be redeemed for real world currency!!😂🙄
I love playing Sabacc with my friends, so its presence in-game is a huge win to me. Did not expect this, nice.
This game has to be good to justify having a 'season pass'. Obviously, games can be ongoing even if they focus on single player content and most games are not finished at the time of publishment. Most games also offer paid DLC pretty regularly which lessens the controversy.
I will rely on video games journalists to tell me if this is a positive or a negative.
@EchoRange I still don't understand Tetra Master. Every time I thought I grasped it, some sudden curveball would flip 5 of my cards, haha.
An open world game with a card game included? That's shocking!
Seriously though, it's fine with me as long as it's good. Most of the ones included in the many open world games are good.
“Want the complete deck? Get the Super Galactic Edition for only $250!”
Is there a collection aspect regarding 'special cards' in sabacc lore? Or are 'special cards' just like a dealers choice for a round?
Obviously Gwent is the best mini game of all, and rolling loaded dice in Farkle in KCD is also pretty sweet, Orlog in AC Valhalla was pretty decent to be fair, although a bit limited in scale or simply underdeveloped.
But I always found stuff like Texas Hold'em in RDR2 a bit too boring, because in reality hold'em takes f***ing hours and is just a standard card game and that is that, it didn't really translate well because of that, and there was not much effort make it more interesting imo, it was just there because it was there.
So I'm hoping there is some other element to make Sabacc worthwhile, be it story or collection aspects, and not just a standard counting numbers card game.
Give me hope people? Do we think Sabbac will have legs in its inclusion? Or be a grindy chore?
@ApostateMage
I wonder if it's included in standard edition or we have to buy the Ultimate Gold Platinum Galactic Death Star edition to unlock it.
After the last stunt of Ubisoft im not getting anymore of their games. They now are stealing people purchases killing of games and removing your access. After their blatant lie when you buy digital that you will keep access to your products. Its even worse after they said get used to not owning your games. F### Ubisoft.
@Specky Dont worry you sont own it you will need to go online to install it and after they think you has enough thet will steal your purchase. Thet did it with the Crew always online and now they even take away the ability to play or even download it.
blackjack/poker combo? WTF are you talking about.. and how long before the hardrock has that table game available?
@Flaming_Kaiser
You'll own nothing and be happy.
(Though tbh they do the world a great service by removing their crappy games)
Jk of course
@Specky 🤣
