Haven Studios, the Canadian first-party outfit established by Assassin’s Creed veteran Jade Raymond and immediately inducted into the PS Studios family, is “on track” deliver a “AAA multiplayer experience” with its debut project Fairgame$. That’s according to a job listing for the forthcoming heist shooter, which is seeking a “self-expression producer”. Candidates will work alongside the Live Operations Producer and Economic Designer to deliver “industry leading customisation opportunities to our players”.
Much like Arrowhead’s breakout success shooter Helldivers 2, the Montreal-based team has been tasked with creating a live service game that retains player interest over a prolonged period of time. This is a new initiative from within Sony, as it jealously eyes the income generated by titles like Fortnite and Genshin Impact.
“We’ve made amazing progress in a short time thanks to our talented, passionate team and their exceptional contributions,” the Haven Studios job listing reveals. “We established a culture at Haven grounded in kindness, adaptability, and courage that unlocks creativity. Our first new IP for PlayStation is on track to deliver a AAA multiplayer experience with a vision to build a systemic and evolving world focused on freedom, thrill, and playfulness that will keep players entertained and engaged for years.”

I have very very low expectations for this. They'll have to create something truly revolutionary if they're going to have any hope in this market.
If its just Fortnite but stealing money I'm not sure this will be a hit. But hey, you never know...
Somehow, and call it a hunch here, the woman behind early Assassins Creed, the first Watch Dogs disaster, Assassins Creed Unity Bugfest and even Star Wars Battlefront 2, who hasnt successfully released a game for the past 7 years and counting, might not deliver on this.
It's like hiring Phil Harrison. It's a harbinger.
@Icey664 this is going to be playstations bleeding edge.
bleeding edge on xbox one was forgotten within a week.
even the artstyle is horendous.
looks like lizzo.
@Haruki_NLI
This is going to be horrible isn't it?
@Haruki_NLI
That's nice bit of history, but you didn't have to look further than the dollar sign in the title to call this a disaster
@Specky There is something rather "mid 2000s" about that title. Y'know, back when Ke$ha was making music and "Pimp My Ride" was putting dollar sign spinners on a Nissan Skyline.
I smell "AAAA game".
@Specky i hate that i agree with you because i want to be optimistic for multiplayer but that title is so cringe
I agree that the debut CG trailer isn't particularly encouraging, but I personally think it's far too early to totally write this off. We've seen zero seconds of the game itself. At least give them a chance haha
It's like, you have to navigate the American healthcare system or something these days, in order to find a good game.
Im looking forward to giving this a try, hopefully it can keep me hooked like HellDivers 2 did.
This game reeks of "how do you do fellow kids" energy and is one of the main reasons why I have little confidence in a Hermen Hulst led PlayStation. This is the guy who pre-emptively bought this studio despite not having released any games to prove their worth.
Sorry, but giving this about 0.1% chance of succeeding. Everything about this game just screams trainwreck...
@The_ghostmen The only resemblance the woman in the trailer has to Lizzo is she's a woman and she's black. She's not even obese.
I want to have faith it could surprise and delight but every time I see that $ in the title...I'm sorry it just evaporates any hope I have for it.😅
this looks like dog shid
@nomither6
Sorry, multiplayer died for me the day Factions 2 died. I'm a doomer now when it comes to multiplayer.
Apex and Rocket League still solid though
@Orpheus79V
I think it was more of a metaphor for a placebo
@Orpheus79V dude im 20 pounds heavier then lizzo.
Its about the middle of her face this has nothing to do with race or weight.
Since Starbreeze shat a bed with Payday 3 I can see opening in market for this type of game.
But I don't have big hopes tbh.
If this game ended as a big flop then it'll be one of old Jimbo biggest sin for PS fans. Because how on earth he quickly agreed to acquired Haven Studio when the devs doesn't even release a single game nor bring any profits for Sony.
Meanwhile old Jimbo closed down Japan Studio, Sony first internal game devs who breed fun and innovative games for decades despite a lot of their games doesn't sold like crack.
Hype level after first trailer = 0.
But... Payday 3 is pretty much a failure at this point, so there is room for a heist shooter in the market at least.
I do feel the hipster/zoomer-style might work against it, but maybe I'm just an old man yelling at clouds by now.
If it's heists like gta heist, I might be interested.
I remember a lot of people disliking the trailer and I doubt they'll be able to convert those people if they didn't do a full 180.
This zoomer shooter is doomed.
We definitely need to see some actual gameplay for this.
I feel confident in saying this will be Sony's Redfall except with a much crappier name! I really can't believe they haven't changed the name yet it's so embarrassing 😐
"deliver a AAA multiplayer experience with a vision to build a systemic and evolving world focused on freedom, thrill, and playfulness that will keep players entertained and engaged for years.”
Literally the broken promise of EVERY live service game. It never actually amounts to anything. These games exist to syphon money from people, and nothing else. I hope this one bites PlayStation EXTRA hard since they were stupid enough to buy the studio.
@Perturbator as an early zoomer i agree with you , i hate this style so much and it’s been around since the mid 2010s now . give me styles like resistance , army of two , gears of war trilogy, splinter cell & Metal Gear , Killzone 3, GTA4, etc
They need to rename it to Fairgame$tar$ so it can join Destruction AllStars and Foamstars in the live service bin.
@Godot25 I was thinking the same thing. If they can do was Payday3 was trying to do and be successful at it maybe it could go somewhere.
You the same guys that said helldivers 2 was gonna flop before release. I don’t understand why people here doesn’t want Sony to have some success live service games.
@Jay767 same people who predicted skulls and bones and suicide squad would be DOA. they weren't wrong. sony is trying to chase trends rather than innovate. they will get the results that they deserve. let's not kid ourselves and act like a helldivers 2 comes around very often.
I want to see if Sony will release a F2P game that doesn't require PS+, if they want to compete with all the others that don't.
I remember seeing the CGI trailer a year ago. When exactly is this supposed to be coming out. I really wish this companies would stop releasing trailers years in advance. If it's not coming out within 6 months to a year, stay quiet.
I get big Rogue Company vibes. RC had a lot of potential but the studio pivoted with some weird choices and unwillingness to fix many bugs. It was on of the few Online Shooters I've really enjoyed.
@Quintumply Unfortunately I think many gamers are completely over live service. And the ones that aren’t are unlikely to leave the games they are currently playing. Helldivers II avoided this by having a unique theme and by being more of a live service light… nothing is timed and missing out on major orders is not like missing a timed event. Even that game is shedding players.
Obviously we've only seen one CG trailer for this and so it's stupid to say one way or the other whether this is gonna be a hit or not, but I'm gonna do it anyway and say this is gonna be a not.
