Fans can sleep soundly at night, safe knowing that the upcoming Street Fighter movie appears to be in capable hands. It might still be a long way from hitting the big screen, produced in partnership between Legendary Entertainment and Capcom. Still, the directorial duo (and brothers) Danny and Michael Philippou are at least headed in the right direction, judging by the film's newly revealed poster.
Courtesy of Collider, the Street Fighter movie debuted its official logo at the Las Vegas Licensing Expo and is sure to appeal to longtime fans of the series. Now spanning more than four decades, the series is older than many of its players. The brothers Philiippou are Adelaide-based filmmakers who started on YouTube and made their directorial debut in 2022 with the A24 haunted-hand horror film Talk to Me.
If you need more convincing, check out what the brothers are capable of in this almost-decade-old YouTube classic, Real Life Street Fighter (thanks, ResetEra). Content warning: it's extremely Australian.

As much as i enjoyed SF: Assassin's Fist and the guilty pleasure Van Damme / Raul Julia (RIP) SF movie, i feel SF never fit for live action movie.
I would love if Capcom spend some money to make a new anime movie as good as SF II or tv series like SF II V. But oh well...let's see what these Australian directors can do with SF.
SF Assassins Fist was no joke exactly what I wanted from an SF movie. I thought they were working on a sequel to that at some point but I guess it didn't come together unfortunately.
Oh well I'll still give this a shot whenever it comes out.
If they can get the same quality as Assassin's Fist that would be great even get the directors of SFVI as constants.
Been ages since I seen anything by RackaRacka (referring to the Yotube video here), that takes me back.
I'm optimistic, but they should probably stick to anime for Street Fighter.
From Talk to Me to Street Fighter? Interesting directors.
Honestly Ming-Na Wen could probably still play Chun-Li today 😅💗💗💗
The Van Damme SF was quite funny. I liked it a lot. Even if it wasn't that faithful.
@McBurn It was about as faithful as the 1993 Mario Bros movie, in that it was called Street Fighter, and had characters from the game in it.
@get2sammyb I agree, and the CGI intros that they have done for games like SF4, USF4 or SFxT were amazing, that quality is enough for a movie.
I'm not very optimistic but I'll probably go see it anyway. I went to the theatre back in 2009 to see the Chun-Li movie and I was the only one there.
@DeepEyes the super street fighter 4 intro is so underrated and forgotten , it was arguably the best sf intro ever
Third time's the charm?
At least the 90's movie was so bad that it was great. The meme's on it. 🤣
These guys have been directing homemade action films since they were kids and Talk to Me had FANTASTIC sound design. One of my favourite horror movies. Not a huge SF fan but I'd trust them completely with this if I were.
