Following our first official look at HBO's The Last of Us adaptation's second season, another actor that players of The Last of Us: Part 2 will no doubt recall has reportedly been cast. Jeffrey Wright, who plays the enigmatic leader of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF) militia in the game, will reprise his role in the show's eagerly anticipated next season.
As reported by Variety, Wright has officially joined the show's cast alongside returning series leads Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. His character is described as: "The quietly powerful leader of a large militia group who sought liberty but instead has become mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy." Previously announced cast members for this season include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Danny Ramirez as Manny. Catherine O'Hara will also guest-star in an undisclosed role.
Wright is a five-time Emmy Award nominee and was recently nominated for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his role in the film American Fiction. In addition to his role in The Last of Us: Part II, readers may recognise Wright from his work as James Gordon in The Batman and Bernard Lowe in the Westworld series.
What do you think of Jeffrey Wright reprising his The Last of Us Part II role in the second HBO adaptation season? Can his inclusion be used to glean the scope of the season? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Brilliant actor. I always thought Isaac as a character had such an aura but was underused in the game. Let's see if we get more this time.
Wright in anything is always a great sign.
@Atreus97 it seems we will, this set photo indicates to me that his back story will be covered directly this time.
I just love this guy's voice and his overall performances. American fiction was fantastic in showing the hypocrisy of corporate "social awareness" while also just being a beautiful and funny family drama. He was also great as Bernard in Westworld. Even as the watcher in what if, he's one of the few bright spots in the MCUs current mess.
I recently watched all seasons of Homicide: Life on the Streets (great series!) and a far younger version of him popped up there too:

@Perturbator wow that's funny, never seen him this young
The man himself confirmed.
Why is it “reportedly”? It has been tweeted by the Last of Us official account. It’s not a rumor.
My memory doesn't work too well, is Isaac in the first 40% of the game which I assumed season 2 would encompass, or just the middle 40% that he was in? I'm pretty sure he wasn't in the last 20%.
My wife and I were hoping the first 40% and second 40% of the game would run concurrently in the show, that's normally how Tv shows work, but I don't think I've seen Abbey's sidekick brother and sister act cast so it was looking to me like filming following the game, which I think would mean no Isaac? 🤷♂️
I was going to wait until after season 3 released to watch season 2, we don't normally subscribe to Max, but I may watch season 2 now just for JW's inclusion, really like him in pretty much anything he's in.
Booo, he looks nothing like him
@Deljo as if that matters at all? He's a character that appeared in two scenes in the game ffs
@NeonTiger it was a joke genius...
Didn't care to much for the first season in terms of how closely it followed the game, but it was decent as far as shows go.
