LEGO Horizon Adventures may not subscribe to the realism of Aloy’s mainline games, but it still looks bloody beautiful. Developed by Guerrilla and Studio Gobo, this is a phenomenal looking co-op outing, which recreates the post-apocalyptic beauty of the tentpole PS5 and PS4 titles using Denmark’s famous bricks. Unlike releases such as LEGO Fortnite, which blends the blocks with other assets, everything here appears to be made of the iconic toys.
The story appears to follow the plot of the first game, suggesting this may actually be the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster that was rumoured several years ago. “Aloy, the game’s leading hero, is found in a cave as a baby and raised by a grizzled huntsman called Rost, who teaches her the way of the wilds,” the PS Blog reveals. “One day, Aloy embarks on a quest to discover her true destiny. Guided by a thousand-year-old hologram of a scientist called Elisabet, Aloy must confront Helis, the leader of a group of sun worshipers who bow to an Ancient Evil shrouded in mystery.”
Gameplay can be enjoyed both solo or in co-op – either locally or online. And there’ll even be a base-building element, where you collect blueprints to build out Mother’s Heart in any way you desire.
Honestly, this just looks absolutely delightful, and while we were sceptical prior to the announcement, we reckon this is going to prove a perfect way to expand on Aloy’s adventures. Are you impressed by what you’ve seen thus far? Take down a dinobot or two in the comments section below.

I can't get over how stunningly beautiful this game looks. Such a great end to the year for PlayStation between this and Astro Bot. I hope everyone that complains about all the "samey sad Dad sims" will put their money where their mouth is with these two titles.
@get2sammyb Yes I totally agree. I've already ordered Astro and will be ordering this as soon as pre orders go live. Sony needs to see that a variety of different experiences will sell - beyond their usual output (ironically I bet this will sell huge numbers on switch - genuinely curious about what impact that will have on Sony's thinking for other titles with crossover appeal)
The last week has shown the fun, colourful side of Sony that has been missing for a while (since Japan studio shuttered)
@get2sammyb absolutely, can't wait for these to release. I'll be getting both day 1. Unfortunately, it seems like in my country they have not yet listed pre-order bonuses for Astro, so I'll be waiting on some transparency on that.
Lego Horizon looks stunning, I knew it was gonna be a good fit, but not this much.
I was kinda hoping it’d basically be a Horizon game but with a Lego aesthetic… unfortunately the trailer seems the opposite. Just looks like any other themed Lego game 😔
@colonelkilgore I think it looks a lot better than the usual LEGO game, but yeah clearly it's going in a different direction with its gameplay. That's not a bad thing, though!
@Cikajovazmaj Which country are you from? You should be able to get the pre-order bonuses wherever you are.
It looks fantastic but I'm stunned this isn't on PS4, it just seems a poor way to treat their own customers when it's being developed for the Switch. Overall one I'll keep an eye on and may pick up
The lighting looks stunning, wonder if there using ray tracing? Was surreal seeing the Lego version of the Tallneck when I have the real on one on my desk lol.
Sony has been caught with it's pants way down it seems, most of it's heavy hitters still being in development for at least a few more years - and all at once.
I guess this is what it takes now to fill the gaps between major releases... wetting appetites for it's IP's with smaller less-epic entries that take a lot less to make, so that people don't start forgetting they even exist.
They should really tone down the gameplay time and map size for major epic AAA games, to what was done in 2018 and before... 20-40h AAA games instead of 100h or more... so we can have more of them.
EDIT - Example: I don't want an epic Horizon game that takes 80h-100h to finish - make it 35-40h and release it in 2-3 years instead of 5 to 10... and quality-wise make it like the first 2 games. Instead of making lego games...
Otherwise we'll arrive in a world where 10 years are filled with all that sh..tuff that was shown last night at SGF, while waiting for 1 major IP to hit the market.
And my kid will have his own kids before he even gets to try it's sequel...
I love how fun Aloy sounds in this. Kinda makes me wish she was this eccentric in the main games 🤣
@Shinnok789 I feel like you're contradicting yourself in your post. You're complaining about them making smaller games to fill the gaps, and then you're suggesting they... Make smaller games to fill the gaps?
@Icey664 Ashly Burch clearly had the time of her life with this project. Haha, it's amazing!
Playstation blog comments are a mess over this 🤣 apparently this signals the end of playstation. Lunatics
@get2sammyb depends on if you like the usual Lego game formula really. I’ve only played one and it bored me to tears 😅
My biggest takeaway from this is that Aloy now qualifies to be in the next Smash Bros as she's technically appearing in a game that's on Nintendo. Woohoo!
@Rob_230
It's a slow process, it won't happen immediately but it will happens. Like MS, Sony is currently digging its own grave.
What is currently happening with the Xbox will also happen with the Playstation, just later. GTA 6 will save the PS5 again but the PS6 won't be a chance without real exclusive titles and a PS7 may not exist.
Sony will learn the hard way how important exclusive titles are. but I fear by then it will be too late.
@get2sammyb It's the usual complaining for the sake of complaining to the point he contradicts himself.
I'm just baffled with the complaint though especially when this year we got quite a lot of interesting games either exclusives or multiplats. Heck, i myself not yet buy this year releases like Unicorn Overlord and Apollo Justice trilogy because i want to finish some of my backlog while grinding in SF 6 for Capcom Pro Tour.
@get2sammyb
My meaning is: make smaller AAA games, so we can have more of them - instead of relying on more "diluted" titles like this lego game, to fill the many-year gaps between 80-100h long AAA behemoths.
Added an example to my post to make it clearer.
This lego title feels like a filler we can have in the interim before Horizon 3 arrives... and most likely it won't be the only one, since H3 will be probably released in... what 2026-2027?
@carlos82 Poor way? Dude last gen is over. Come on did you think its poor that Bloodborne wasn't on PS3? Infamous SS? Its been 4 years now its time last gen was let go.
Can't wait for this, hopefully this means we get more Lego games based off other Playstation IP's, maybe TLOU or Ghost of Tsushima next.
@Shinnok789 I don't know about you but for me the last two Horizon games definitely weren't 80-100 hours, I clocked both games between the 40-50 hour mark and that's with their DLC's.
@DennisReynolds I would agree but they're making a Switch version anyway, so at that point there's no reason not to make it for their own console which is still incredibly active and still gets most new games. Also the PS3 was vastly different to PS4 for development and was quickly abandoned by most so that analogy makes no sense
@LowDefAl Seems about right, 30-40 hours is just right for RPG's, anything more and it starts to drag in my opinion.
@UltimateOtaku91 Not if you want to find and do everything in the game - which a lot of "open world" players love to do, myself included.
Also
@Shinnok789
Yep you are totally spot on. Gaming development is taking ages nowadays and the big AAA games could be made a bit smaller.
About 40 hours will all side missions and collectables etc.
Not sure about Sony Studios or Xbox studios they all seem to take ages.
It’s funny how some third party developers are getting it right though and they need to programme for more devices.
I’m sure cost cutting and financing are more involved nowadays.
@Rob_230 Leaving just Nintendo then as Xbox are on their way out too.
@get2sammyb bit of a late reply on my end, I'm Croatian. I'm sure they will update local shops soon, I just don't want to preorder before it's "clear".
Unfortunately, had previous experience where "fine print" was read and side-by-side offer listing was examined for some extra content, so I'm just going "better safe then sorry" route these days.
Edit: One of the popular shops actually updated their page to include preorder bonus today, so that settles that
@get2sammyb "I hope everyone that complains about all the "samey sad Dad sims" will put their money where their mouth is with these two titles."
I will definitely be getting Astro Bot day one so I will be backing up my mouth there! As for LEGO Horizon Adventures yeah no way it's a LEGO game! They all basically play the same with the exact humor and sometimes same jokes, this one looks like a prettier version of the same thing 🤷
@carlos82 Why add the extra cost for a 10 year old console port?
@DennisReynolds the same reason pretty much every other publisher is doing, to make more money. What a bizarre question
@DennisReynolds To be honest, I don't think it would be a high cost (probably just put the same source code through the compiler with the PS4 options set) This is Sony marketing not believing in generations...
Given the target audience, cutting out the PS4 does seem somewhat silly because it wouldn't have problem running it if the inferior Switch hardware can.
Isn't it nice to have 2 games that many are looking forward to that dosent rely on sex and extreme violence to sell itself.
Astro bot and horizon lego adventures look amazing and I cant wait for both of them. I don't mind some action games but gaming these days is deluged with extremely violent games. Its nice to have a bit more balance.
@get2sammyb Don't forget Concord, with Lego Horizon, Astro Bot, Concord and HellDivers 2 all in one year, I hope this shuts up the trolls who complain about Sony only having 3rd Person cinematic adventure games.
Personally… not really seeing the beauty. The distinct isometric angle and the window dressing on one solid plane just makes me think Apple Arcade more than anything. The Lego Movie videogame is like 10 years old and did the same concept of everything being Lego more impressively personally.
@carlos82 Yet Sony think otherwise.
This does look like fun, but just such an odd project 😅 hope it does well all the same!
It just looks like every other Lego game
@Shinnok789 fake gamer alert
@sanderson72 "This is Sony marketing not believing in generations"
This isn't Sony marketing not believing in generations but it's Sony who wants to moved on from PS4 and fully focus on PS5.
PS4 already fully served it purposes; it's the winner for 8th gen console that brought Sony not just profits but also consumer trust for PS brand. It also a crystal clear proof how Sony turning the table from their mistakes with PS3. The console outsold + outlive its competitors by a long mile. So how long do you want Sony to be shackle down with PS4 when this is PS5 4th year?
I mean. For a decade, Sony already showered PS4 with plenty of great games. From Bloodborne, Uncharted 4 & Lost Legacy as well 1-3 remastered, TloU remastered & Part 2, GOW 3 remastered / 2018 / Ragnarok, Spider-Man & Miles Morales, Ratchet, Gravity Rush remastered & 2, The Last Guardian, NiOh 1 & 2, GT Sport & 7, LBP 3, FF VII Remake, Death Stranding, Infamous 2nd Son, Medievil remake, Parappa remastered, etc etc. Heck, Sony are still porting PS1/PS2/PSP classic games for PS4.
Meanwhile, you don't even see Nintendo supported WiiU for that long. Even MS already cut out Xbox One suport, which is why you don't see games like Starfield, Hellblade 2, Hi-fi Rush, new Forza, or MS Flight Sim released for Xbox One.
The graphics and color of the hotdog guy blew me away.
It was like looking at a hotdog and for the first time really seeing it🫣
This will be the first LEGO game I ever buy.
@UltimateOtaku91 TLOU with LEGO game style humor would be truly bizarre but I would have to play it just to witness it.
@Toot1st If you have something meaningful to add, then do.
Otherwise, stop trolling
@LowDefAl I’m about to platinum Horizon: Forbidden West now and I’m 43 hours in.
@UltimateOtaku91 it won’t shut them up at all! Seems people who complain always find something new to complain about when their old complaint issue gets rectified.
I hate Lego games but love Horizon so I’m torn. We’ll see…
Oh dear, I had some 69,99.- laying around with no real purpose...the wait is now over !
Right! I love the idea of a new Lego game, but I hope it's worth the $80 CDN for a new copy. I'd hate to wait a year for a decent price.
@Shinnok789 it's a comment section I made my comment I think it's looks like every other Lego game sorry it's different from you opinion and that upsets you. Astro bot on the other hand looks fantastic
