During the Xbox Showcase, we got our first proper look at the recently re-named Dragon Age: The Veilguard, with the CGI trailer BioWare opted for promptly getting torn to shreds by starving fans. In response (probably), the developer has released a sneak peek at gameplay ahead of a longer showing planned for tomorrow. We are pleased to report that it looks like the proper, grimdark Dragon Age we all know and love.
In the exceedingly brief clip, we see protagonist Rook and one-time companion Varric arriving in the almost Gotham-like city of Minrathous. Atmospheric and brooding, lit by roving searchlights, the cityscape is a sight for sore eyes, and the character models and animations have completely recalibrated our expectations for the game.
Has this brief tease changed your mind after yesterday's trailer? Are you more optimistic about the official gameplay reveal now? Let us know in the comments section below.

Looks good in that tweet. That Cinematic trailer at the Xbox event looked lame. So the first impressions were not good.
I told you take away the Borderlands Splash screen nonsense and it actually looked pretty promising.
Had no problem with it before, have no problem with it now.
Looks pretty damn good and very detailed there. Not bad! Still a little old school fable style with the art direction though.
This sneak peak looks great! Can't wait to see more.
Sick? Are you a teenager?
Pretty graphics doesn't mean the gameplay is good.
I'm calling off my scheduled eulogy, still waiting to see what gameplay there is besides walking.
Oh yes. That looks very nice.
Looking forward to seeing more of it later today.
It's new brave Bioware and this game is for 'modern' audience, sooo no thx. Uber uber deeep deeep deep sale, maybe.
That tweet looked ok, but honestly no, I’m certainly not sold on this one. I think I’ve already picked what I’m going to play the rest of the year now and I think my plans may only change depending on a Nintendo Direct at this point.
Remains to be seen if the all action approach to combat works out well, with the focus on also harnessing allied abilities. Sounds very Guardians of the Galaxy still. Not saying that was bad, but maybe ill fitting for what people expect of Dragon Age?
@riceNpea I’m 38 and still use “sick” when I find something sick.
@GeneticMutation such as vomit or something disturbing. That's fair.
Sadly they released the other awful trailer instead.
This one doesn't say enough. But the town looks nice. I still fear the actual combat.
Now this is more like it.
Skeptical after that cartoony reveal a few days ago.
But actual gameplay looks more promising.
I think that BioWare (if they are still BioWare at this point?) realise that there is literally “Everything” riding on this, and on the new Mass Effect.
If they screw up Dragon Age and Mass Effect? Alienate what is left of their existing fanbase?
I fear that they would be finished. And they probably know that.
Personally, I will not know until I actually play it.
So I will buy a copy, play it, and just reach my own conclusions.
Come on pushsquare you guys started that also.by saying it looks a little cartoonish from the trailer.when the trailer looks really good.the graphics looks amazing.so yeah.people tgis day are hypocrites.always try to find something wrong when the game looks amazing.dragon age the veiguard is going to be excellent.word up son
One-time companion?
The full gameplay reveal is in about 2 and a half hours yes? Had to do some searching and only found US times which I think I’ve converted right.
@BearsEatBeets 4pm UK time and I am very much looking forward to it.
@Mintie thanks for the confirmation. I’m still eager to see it too.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this game but I hope the gameplay looks cool. I'm also still holding out hope for a Collection announcement which would be great, especially if the game isn't coming out this year.
Also being in the chat for the Gameplay reveal stream and people calling this game Dave is pretty funny.
Like I said just wait for the gameplay. That looks gorgeous
@riceNpea
Teenagers today don't use sick. Maybe Rizz or "that trailer ate" but not sick, sick is boomer slang...lol...
Push Square: "You can't judge a game by just the 2 minutes CGI trailer!"
Also Push Square: "Look at this less than 2 minutes gameplay reveal, game looks sick!"
Watching the gameplay right now and it does indeed look sick.
The only thing that will stop me from getting many of these new games, is if they have a 60fps option on PS5.
i am not a teenager and this looks sick.
